HRC Cleveland Steering Committee Dare2Care Sub-Committee The Human Rights Campaign Presents Dare2Care – Unite Against Bullying HRC Fashion and Performance Gala - May 1, 2011 Dear Potential Supporter: All bullying is reprehensible. Like hate crimes, pervasive bullying sends a message to young people that just because of who they are, they are not welcomed. Bullying rends at the fabric of our society and can fragment communities. To unite against bullying and the hate that fuels it, we must, as a community, be committed to a zero tolerance message. In the past year alone 85% of LGBT youth report being victims of some form of verbal harassment or bullying in their school as a result of their sexual orientation. In the month o f September 2010 at least 5 students between the ages of 13 and 19 took their ow n lives after facing torment and ridicule, and these are only the ones we hear about. Please join us on Sunday, May 1, 2011 6:00 – 10:00 PM at the Cuyahoga County Courthouse –  (1 Lakeside Avenue, Cleveland 44113), as we spread our zero tolerance message. The event includes: a runway fashion show, several live performances, and award of our youth poetry scholarship. Ticket prices  range from $10 - $200, f ree soft drinks and a cash bar are included.
