ApArt from the romAn colosseum, the sights of el Jem Are still covered by sAnd. And the city of el Jem is A sleepy plAce without much chArActer. but the colosseum is greAt, Almost As big As the one of rome, And in better condition. it is 148 metres long by 122 metres wide, with tiers up to 35 metres.

There is nothing missing which takes away its grandeur. One area of the walls is gone, and this was done in 1695 when a big hole was shot in the wall of the colosseum, in order to uncover the hiding places of dissidents against the Ottomans.

The colosseum was constructed between 230 and 238 CE by the command of the Imperial official Gordian. It’s believed to have given room for as much as 30,000 spectators, some estimates set it at 45,000. This in the town of Thysdrus with only 30,000 inhabitants. But was a wealthy town, probably eager to impress its visitors.

The building process is even more impressive considering that the stones were quarried 30 km away at Salakta. In 238 Gordian committed suicide after an unsuccessful rebellion against Rome, where he had claimed to be emperor. With this, the construction of the amphitheatre ended. It was never completely finished, but was of course used.

is derived from ‘Gei’, which in Japanese means performance or entertainer, and ‘sha’, which means person, and dates back 400 years ago to the 'Edo' period. During this time the Geisha entertained at banquets and social gatherings by playing a Japanese guitar (called a Shamisen), and singing and giving dance performances.

There is often a misconception by some that Geisha's are prostitutes, but nothing could be further from the truth. Geisha are refined and cultured girls and wom-en who are highly trained in a variety of traditional skills. Besides playing the Shamisen, singing and danc-ing, the Geisha perform the Japanese tea ceremony, and are well versed in the art of conversation.

The training involved in becoming a Geisha is very rigorous, and because of this the numbers of Geisha are declining. Few young women in today’s society are willing to devote themselves to such demanding training. To become a Geisha, if accepted, a young girl must go through an apprenticeship that involves living with a head Geisha. This training period takes five to six years. During this time, the Geisha trainee must help with the chores and the running of the house, learn customs and social skills, and take music and dance lessons. After about six months, the trainee Geisha is called a maiko girl, and accompanies a Gei-sha on her appointments in order to become acquaint-ed with customers. At about age 20, the maiko must make the decision to become a full-fledged Geisha or not. If a girl wishes to marry she cannot become a Geisha.

Coloris an important part of human e xpression

Color or colour (see spelling differences) is the visual perceptual property corresponding in humans to the categories called red, yellow, blue and others. Color derives from the spectrum of light (distribution of light energy versus wavelength) interacting in the eye with the spectral sensitivities of the light receptors.

Color categories and physical specifications of color are also associated with objects, materials, light sources, etc., based on their physical properties such as light absorption, reflection, or emission spectra. By defining a color space, colors can be identified numerically by their coordinates.

Typography (Etymology: typos—type, graphos—written) is the art and technique

of arranging type, type design, and modifying type glyphs. Type glyphs are created and modi-

fied using a variety of illustration techniques. The arrangement of type involves the selection

of typefaces, point size, line length, leading (line spacing), adjusting the spaces between groups of letters (tracking) and adjusting the

space between pairs of letters (kerning).

Typography is performed by typesetters, com-positors, typographers, graphic designers, art directors, comic book artists, graffiti artists,

and clerical workers. Until the Digital Age, typography was a specialized occupation. Digi-tization opened up typography to new genera-

tions of visual designers and lay users.
