My memor y is my vast vault of al l my exper iences. I t is def in i tely not a select ive memor y, I don’t want to control i t. I t ’ s al l there whenever I want or need it.

These are a ser ies of works mainly inspi red by photographs of sur faces, as wel l as an experimental approach with unconventional mater ials. I am constant ly revis i t ing certain memories of my chi ldhood and I was ver y much fond of di f ferent sur faces that I stumble upon dur ing my t ravel. As a result, these mater ials are manipulated and explored so as to recreate a certain atmospher ic memor y for an instance, a part icular place. Thus paint ing in mult iple layers that would create a certain level of depth to my works are to exempl i fy aspects of nostalgia.

I bel ieve in the most commonplace mater ials for instance: earth, sand and dust, i t is f rom them that we may gain some knowledge of the st ructure of real i ty. I t is almost l i ke an enjoyment that can be found in debris, scattered at random.

Dina graduated with a Diploma in Fine Arts at LASALLE Col lege of the Arts in 2010. She has s ince part icipated in var ious exhibit ions such as Al l iance Francaise’s 2nd France + Singapore New Generation Art ists (2010) and Post Museum’s Redl ight (2009) to name a few. She recent ly bagged the Meri t Pr ize for INSTINC ’s Squares Invasion – The 50cm x 50cm Paint ing Show in 2011. She was also awarded the Highly Commended Pr ize for the 28th UOB Paint ing of the Year competit ion in 2009.
