Our focus is on education, income, and health – the building blocks for strong families and thriving communities.

We recruit people and organizations from all across the community who bring the passion, expertise, and resources needed to get things done. We set significant and measurable goals and hold ourselves accountable.

Income

• Reduced access of welfare systems

• Increase earned income = broader tax base

• Decreased crime

• Decreased incidences of domestic violence/child abuse

Benefits of Health Community Goal

Health

• Increased preventative care & decreased ER care = decreased expenses

• Due to higher preventative care and increased medical homes, decrease incidence of obesity, increase in disease maintenance (i.e. - diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.)

• Increased access to health care, including prenatal medicine

How We Do It

Galvanize and connect all sectors of society – individuals, businesses, non-profits, and government – to create long-term change through investing in solutions that produce healthy, well educated and financially stable individuals and families.

Role of the Coordinator1. Educate employees• Through group presentations:

– Consider existing staff meetings or special meetings

– Establish a campaign goal for your campus:

Overall DISD goal: $175,000– Agenda (5-7 minutes):

– Welcome Coordinator (you)– Scorecard Campaign video– Q&A/Thank you Team Leader / UW

– Discuss any first-hand experiences with United Way and ask for others to share (Consider a staff member that may want to share why they invest in United Way.)

– Thank individuals for their time and consideration

2. Distribute Campaign Materials – Share Scorecards at the meeting

– Promote online giving through Oracle (Best Practice of increasing participation and incentivizing staff that give online and maximize their investments)

– Have paper pledge forms available

– Be a leader
