Eye Glass Recycling Lion IPP Sharon Keenan, Chair

Like a bad penny I am back in December, not 100% but back. I would like to thank my family for collecting at my eyeglass stops for the month of November. That's a family that works together and I am blessed to have them. We had a good month, we collected 425 pair of glasses.

Daly City Host Lions Recycle

Don Riker Recycling Fund – bring your cans and bottles to the second meeting each month. You can contact Lion Director Ed Dollard for collection or bring them to our second meeting each month.

Community Service

Daly City Host Lions have donated 1,396 hours of community service this Fiscal Year! We know that you are giving more time than you are reporting – please report what you are doing not for the recognition but to help us show worldwide what Lions do to make things better for everyone. If you have any questions about reporting, please contact Lion Secretary Denise Kelly.

Cancelled Stamps – bring the stamps that you are recycling with the envelopes to any club meeting and Lion Secretary Denise Kelly will send them to Easter Seals. Easter Seals makes lots of money selling them to philatelists worldwide.

Empty Ink Jet Cartridges – Lion Secretary Denise Kelly is collecting these for Student Speaker Foundation or the Lions organization of your choice. Bring them to a meeting and let her know which organization you want to support.

Pull Tabs – who would have thought that the little tab on the top of the can could be valuable. Ronald McDonald Houses around the country collect these as part of their fundraising efforts. Bring them to Lion Secretary Denise Kelly at any meeting.

Vehicle Donations – contact Lion Director Ed Dollard or Lion Marian Mann to donate your unwanted vehicle. This is joint project with St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Keys for Sight – contact Lion 2nd Vice President Greg Hart or Lion Secretary Denise Kelly to donate your old keys to be recycled for our White Cane Fund. We just got a HEAVY bag of keys from Lion Tail Twister Aaron Straus – THANK YOU!!

Lions’ PG Chuckles Lion David York

An older man, not in the best physical condition, asked the trainer in the gym, "I want to impress a beautiful young girl. Which machine should I use?" The trainer replied, "Use the ATM machine outside!"

A police officer in a small town stopped a motorist who was speeding down Main Street. “But officer.” the man began, “I can explain”. “Just be quiet,” snapped the officer. “I’m going to let you cool your heels in jail until the chief gets back…” “But officer, I just wanted to say….” “And I said to keep quiet! You’re going to jail!” A few hours later the officer looked in on his prisoner and said, “Lucky for you that the chief is at his daughter’s wedding. He’ll be in a good mood when he gets back.” “Don’t count on it,” answered the fellow in the cell. “I’m the groom.”

The clerk asked me, “Cash, check or charge?” after ringing up my purchase. As I fumbled through my wallet, she noticed a remote control for a television set in my purse. “Do you always carry your TV remote?” she asked. “No,” I replied. “But my husband refused to come shopping with me, so I figured this was the most evil thing I could do to him!”

Westmoor Leo Club Ms. Susan Stallard – Westmoor Leo Club Advisor

The Leo Club volunteers at the blood drive did a wonderful job! They were great! They were prompt, knowledgeable, helpful, alert to the donors, willing to take on any task to help out, etc. Hurray for Leos!!

Lions Code of Ethics

To Show my faith in the worthiness of my vocation by industrious application to the end that I may merit a reputation for quality of service.

To Seek success and to demand all fair remuneration or profit as my just due, but to accept no profit or success at the price of my own self-respect lost because of unfair advantage taken or because of questionable acts on my part.

To Remember that in building up my business it is not necessary to tear down another's; to be loyal to my clients or customers and true to myself.

Whenever a doubt arises as to the right or ethics of my position or action towards others, to resolve such doubt against myself.

To Hold friendship as an end and not a means. To hold that true friendship exists not on account of the service performed by one another, but that true friendship demands nothing but accepts service in the spirit in which it is given.

Always to bear in mind my obligations as a citizen to my nation, my state, and my community, as to give them my unswerving loyalty in word, act, and deed. To give them freely of my time, labor and means.

To Aid others by giving my sympathy to those in distress, my aid to the weak, and my substance to the needy. To Be Careful with my criticism and liberal with my praise; to build up and not destroy.

Lions Clubs International Objectives

To Create and foster a spirit of understanding among the peoples of the world. To Promote the principles of good government and good citizenship. To Take an active interest in the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community. To Unite the clubs in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship and mutual understanding. To Provide a forum for the open discussion of all matters of public interest; provided, however, that partisan politics and

sectarian religion shall not be debated by club members. To Encourage service-minded people to serve their community without personal financial reward, and to encourage

efficiency and promote high ethical standards in commerce, industry, professions, public works and private endeavors.
