I recently spoke of the Bell Rock Lighthouse, which is now 201 years of age. The old light house illustration is one many of us think of when we think of people and friends we know that are heading through life unaware that there is a huge obstacle in their path. The sin problem, unless fixed, will cause anyone to shipwreck their life.

Here at Community, we believers know Christ came to fix our sin problem. Perhaps you know someone who needs to be connected to Christ, but to this point in their life they have resisted your attempts to speak with them about changing the direction of their life or about joining the community that will be true community forever.

You are already connected with many of the people you might think of that need to change the course of their life. I trust you pray about them often and that you demonstrate to them often that you care for them. People listen to and put their trust in those who care about them. It takes time to build friendships, but it’s the best way to be a beacon for Christ.

The Tuesday fast continues! I hope you are remembering to pray about June 19 and the land auction. Also please remember our Jour-ney West as we draw a bead on hitting below that 90K mark this weekend.

Could you help support our student ministry at their Car Wash this Saturday at Advanced Auto Parts from 9am to 3pm? Thanks in advance.

Our First Friday Block Party is this Friday evening, 6:30-8:30pm. Popcorn, drinks, inflatable bounce house, face painting and a magician are in store for those who come. A party for the entire family [bring your lawn chair]. Also knowing you all as I do – I know you enjoy good music and dessert! So don’t miss the 2nd First Friday Block Party on July 6. Sign up to bring home-made ice cream and/or pie. Lori says there are prizes for the best pies! I think you will enjoy the music as well.

This Sunday we begin a 5-week series on Living the Courageous Life. We will be looking at Elijah the Prophet to see how he found the courage to live a life faithful to the Lord in the midst of great personal danger. Hope you will join us this Sunday as we talk about Elijah, the Rookie Prophet. dan
