Daniel, Prophet of the End

*Lesson 13 (Daniel) - From Dust to Stars

Commentary by Garrick Augustus, March 28, 2020

Introduction Daniel chapter 12 does not officially begin until verse 5! The first four verses in this chapter are a direct

continuation of Gabriel’s message in Chapter 11. In other words, rather than the eleventh chapter’s ending at

verse 45, it actually continues through the first four verses in chapter 12, thereby in a logical sense making

chapter 11 to have 49 instead of 45 verses! This being true, we are obliged to go back to the 45th verse of the

eleventh chapter, to ascertain the context, continuity of though, and timeframe for the contents of Chapter 12.

In this chapter we will see Michael (Y’shuah) standing up as the ancient warrior of Daniel’s people, to deliver His

end-time saints from the time of trouble. Connected with that scene is a mixed resurrection of both saints and

sinners, the appearance of the High Priest on earth, a discussion of the daily, in connection with the end times,

and finally Daniel’s own resurrection to “stand in [his] lot at the end of the days,” (v. 13), upon the earth! What

do all these wonders mean? This is the object of this concluding study. How glad is the thought that whenever

trouble arises, Michael is near and on assignment!

The King of the North Defeated; Sabbath Afternoon, March 21 • “45 And he [KON] shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain;

yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.*

• * As we’ve seen in our previous study, the KON today is the United States of America, and in this role, the

prophecy is teaching that this great nation will one day, after World War II, “plant” an extension of its

Presidential “palace” (the White House) “in the glorious holy mountain” in the land of Palestine! For

decades since the founding of the State of Israel in 1948, the US had located its embassy in Tel-Aviv, Israel,

but over time there had grown an appetite in the halls of Congress to one day relocate that embassy to

Jerusalem. Many presidents came and went, each making campaign promises to honor that Congressional

mandate, but upon gaining the presidency, they have quietly reneged on their promises by signing a six-

month “waiver” till they finally left office, and the promise went unfulfilled! This can was kicked down the

proverbial road of time! President 42 (Clinton) came, served two terms, and nothing was done, number 43

came (Bush II) and served two terms and nothing was done, number 44 (Obama) came, served two terms,

nothing was done, then number 45 came, and in the first year of his reign, made a proclamation on

December 6, 2017 that the Embassy relocation waiver will no longer be signed, and on the 70th anniversary

of Israel’s founding, May 14, 2018, the first clause of Daniel 11: 45 was fulfilled under the watchful eye of

the 45th US President, Donald J. Trump! The numbers 45 and 70 should not escape our notice for the Divine

significance they bear! This move tells us just how close we are to the time of Jacob’s trouble and Michael’s

“standing up!” O, friend, we are nearer, much nearer, then when we first believed. The night is almost

gone!

• The last phase of verse 45 is all there remains to be accomplished! This has to do with the downfall of the

KON! We are seeing that after the USA has relocated its embassy to Jerusalem—the “glorious” holy

mountain in the “glorious” land that she is to make a military mistake thereby distancing her allies, and in

the ensuing war which will occur in the Holy Land, America’s allies will stand down—”none shall help him!”

How real is that to our world today, and what are the signs leading in this direction of America’s allies being

dislocated from her sides? Let’s now trace the pen of history over the pages of prophecy, and the

conclusions are as impressive as they are stunning!

• 1 ¶ And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people:

and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to [not from] that

same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the

book.” Dan,. 11: 45 – 12: 1

None Shall Help Him

• German Chancellor Angela Merkel told a crowd Sunday in southern Germany that Europe can no longer rely on foreign partners.

• Merkel on Sunday declared a new chapter in U.S.-European relations after contentious meetings with President Trump last week, saying that Europe “really must take our fate into our own hands.”…

• Merkel told a packed Bavarian .. rally that the days when Europe could rely on others was “over to a certain extent...”

• This is an enormous change in political rhetoric… Now, Merkel is suggesting that the Americans aren’t really in, and, by extension, Germany and Europe are likely to take on a much more substantial and independent role than they have in the past 70 years.”—The Washington Post, May 28, 2017

• JERUSALEM — The historic opening of the United States Embassy in Jerusalem on Monday seals the Trump administration’s recognition of the holy, and hotly contested, city as the capital of Israel.

• For many Jewish Israelis, the move is a long overdue expression of reality in the city. But the recognition upends decades of American foreign policy and an international consensus that holds that it prejudges negotiations over the final status of the city.

• Palestinians claim East Jerusalem, with its holy

sites sacred to Christians, Muslims and Jews, as the capital of a future Palestinian state and vehemently

oppose the American decision.” New York Times, May 13, 2018.

• “[Daniel 12: 1 quoted] A definite time is introduced in this verse ... "At that time." What time? - The time to which we are brought by the closing verse of the preceding chapter, - the time when the king of the north shall plant the tabernacles of his palace in the glorious holy mountain; or, in other words, when the Turk [KON], driven from Europe, shall hastily make Jerusalem his temporary seat of government. We noticed, in remarks upon the latter portion of the preceding chapter, some of the agencies already in operation for the accomplishment of this end, and some of the indications that the

Turk [KON] will soon be obliged to make this move. And when this event takes place, he is to come to his end; and then, according to this verse, we look for the standing up of Michael, the great prince. This movement on the part of Turkey [KON] is the signal for the standing up of Michael; that is, it marks this event as next in order. And to guard against all misunderstanding, let the reader note that the position is not here taken that the next movement against the Turks [KON] will drive them from Europe, or that when they shall establish their capital at Jerusalem, Christ begins his reign without the lapse of a day or an hour of time.” {1897 Uriah Smith, Daniel And the Revelation, p. 319.2}*

• * Though Elder Smith in this book, was errant on the identity of the KON, his conclusions were precise

and consistent with the theme of the Bible. We have corrected his error by offsetting the correct

identity of the King of the North in square brackets. When read in this light, it leads us to the cogent

conclusion that Jerusalem plays a pivotal role in end time Bible prophecies. Further too, this only goes

to show that there was a time when Seventh-day Adventists had correctly interpreted the “glorious holy

mountain,” the location where the KON plants the tabernacles of his palace, as being earthly Jerusalem,

and not some nebulous representation of the universal church scattered throughout the world, as is

now erroneously taught!

Michael, Our Prince; Sunday March 22 • “13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of

[the first if rank] the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia... 20 Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come. 21 But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince.” Dan. 10: 19-21*

• *Michael shows up when the Church of God was in Persia, and when the “adversaries of Judah” were

weakening the heart of king Cyrus in completing the decision in financing and upholding legislating for

the restoration of the Jerusalem project, in the building of the Second Temple! Both Michael and

Gabriel came down and fight, but Gabriel being a “strong” angel, could not hold the battlefront alone, so

he summoned Michael—the chief warrior in Heaven’s army, and his presence provided much needed

relief to Gabe so he could go and visit with Daniel. It takes one “who is like God” (Michael) to oppose

the Dragon himself, who came down to frustrate the cause of God on earth! He began this ruthless

work in Heaven and was expelled, and it took Michael then to eject him form the portals of Heaven, and

on earth, it still the same!

• “7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, 8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.” Rev. 12: 9.

• “2 And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? 3 And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon. 4 And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon. 5 And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.” Rev. 5: 2-5*

• This book in the Father’s hand in this judicial arrangement is the same book that was introduces in the

Judgment of Dan. 7: 9, 10. Even “a strong angel” could not do that which Michael—the Conquering Lion

of Judah has done, and in fact, he is the ONLY ONE found “worthy” by virtue of the Cross, to meet Satan

on his turn and defeat him, pulling from the burning those who were in his clutches. Here’ is Isaiah’s

assessment of the battlefront: [Isa. 49: 24, 25].

• “24 ¶ Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered? 25 But thus saith the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy [Zion’s] children.” Isa. 49: 24, 25

• “9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.” Jude 9

• “13 ¶ And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries? 14 And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant? 15 And the captain of the LORD’S host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so. Josh. 5: 13-15*

• Since we have discussed Michael extensively in Chapter 10, we will only make passing references to Him here: 1) He shows up during battles in which the forces of darkness are pitched against the people of light

• He is the warrior’s Warrior —the conquering Lion of the tribe of Judah, He breaks every chain and gives victory to His people over and over, and over again! He intervenes to deliver, not as an intercessor to forgive our sins, but as our defender and interposer against all hurt, harm, and danger, both seen and unseen, in the natural and in the Supernatural spheres of life!

• He has resurrection power in his wings, for he also raised Moses (Jude: 9).

• He is the only one who can read the book in the father’s hand, which even a STRONG angel could not touch, let alone read! (Rev. 5: 2-5)

Written in the Book; Monday March 23 • 1 ¶ And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy

people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to [not from] that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.” Dan. 12: 1*

• * Chapter 12 opens with the conjunction “and,” showing that it is the direct continuation of the preceding thought shared in v. 45. Therefore the oft-repeated expression, “that time,” points to no other event than that of when the KON “comes to his end”! In this regard then, it becomes obvious that the KON cannot be Satan, as suggested by the Quarterly in last Thursday’s lesson, nor can he be the Papacy, as is also broadly taught by many Independent Ministries within the Denomination, because Satan will be alive on earth during the millennium, and even after, and the Papacy will continue to exist till the Second Coming of Christ, as recorded in 2Thess 2! To have Satan come to his “end” over a thousand years earlier, and the Papacy similarly “destroyed” prior to its scheduled destruction in Scripture, is to set the Word of God at war with themselves! Let’s carefully remember that our “God is not the author of confusion,” (1 Cor. 14: 33).

• “45 And he [KON] shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.” Dan. 11: 45

Page 5: Daniel, Prophet of the End *Lesson 13 (Daniel) - …...Page 1 of 20 Daniel, Prophet of the End *Lesson 13 (Daniel) - From Dust to Stars Commentary by Garrick Augustus, March 28, 2020

• So, while the KON is being beaten down in a middle-eastern war—World War III, and destitute of her allies support, it is then that Michael stands up! But Michael has always stood during a time of turmoil and threat of certain death to His people in the past, and His standing in these last days, presages another time of trouble! Michael is described as “the great prince which standeth for the children of thy [Daniel’s] people”—the Hebrews! This is an indication that the time for the true Hebrews to be disclosed to view, His Church (Israel) in antitype, has come. He has stood for them in the past, and He will stand for them again! Praise God!

• “There shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to [not from] that same time:” The time when Michael stands up is the “same time” that the KON comes to his end, and the “same time” the war if fought! This means that there will be trouble for God’s people leading up TO that time, and it is this trouble that they are to be “delivered” from! This portends “a time of trouble, such as never was:” thus it is a different kind of “trouble,” for it “never was.” Further too, it is for a nation that “never was”—the USA! Coupling this fat with the truth that the KON is the USA, it becomes evident that the “nation” in prophetic focus can only be the USA.

• “And at that time thy people shall be delivered:” This time is so important that it is thrice repeated to call attention to its significance! This “time” my brethren, also marks the close of probation for the Church, for “at that time” those whose names are found written and remaining in the book of life shall be delivered! This means that those whose names were removed during the investigative judgment of the living, when the books were opened, will be divinely “cut off” from among the living in the church of God, for Michael will not deliver them! O, friend, how urgent the moment in which we live to perfect holiness in the blood of the Lamb, and not to be found in the nakedness of our own righteousness, but fully clothed in holy garments of His righteousness!

• Since the dead knows nothing and cannot in their unconscious state endure “a time of trouble,” it becomes evident that this “trouble” is for the living only, and similarly the judgment which liberates them (given that their names were written in the book), testifies that this is the judgment of the living in the house of God. This judgment does not convene at the Second Coming of Christ, as is erroneously taught by many, but occurs well before that day! God will have a purified and clean ministry to declare the Loud Cry of the Third Angel’s message to the entire sinful world of Babylon.

The Judgment for the Living*

• "Let both grow together," commands Christ, in regard to the commingling of the wheat and tares, "until

the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and

bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into My barn." Matt. 13:30.

• Here the Lord is parabolically teaching that a time of investigation will come, and that then the angels

will remove the sinners from "the congregation of the righteous." Ps. 1:5

• "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:

which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast

the bad away. So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked

from among the just." Matt. 13:47-49.”—V.T. Houteff, The Judgment and the Harvest (Tract 3), p. 42.

• In both of these parables, Christ is sounding the forewarning that the investigative judgment will take

place in the time called "harvest," which is the end of the world -- the time in which the 2300 days

culminate, just as the angel declared: "Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the

Page 6: Daniel, Prophet of the End *Lesson 13 (Daniel) - …...Page 1 of 20 Daniel, Prophet of the End *Lesson 13 (Daniel) - From Dust to Stars Commentary by Garrick Augustus, March 28, 2020

vision." Dan. 8:17. "...shut thou up the vision; for it shall be for many days." Dan. 8:26. "...for yet the

vision is for many days." Dan. 10:14.

• “Pointing directly to the time that the investigative judgment shall take place among the living, Malachi

parallels both parables in his prophecy:

• "...the Lord, Whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to His temple,...But who may abide the day of His

coming? and who shall stand when He appeareth? for He is like a refiner's fire and like fuller's sope: and

He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and He shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold

and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness." Mal. 3:1-3.”--V.T. Houteff,

The Judgment and the Harvest (Tract 3), p. 43.

• “As the cleansings called for in the parables and in Malachi's prophecy have never taken place, the

investigative judgment of the living is obviously, then, yet future. This investigative work is therefore

occasioned by the work of separation in the earthly sanctuary (church), as brought to view also in

Ezekiel 9:

• " 2 And, behold, six men came from the way of the higher gate, which lieth toward the north, and every

man a slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man among them was clothed with linen, with a writer’s

inkhorn by his side: and they went in, and stood beside the brasen altar. 3 And the glory of the God of

Israel was gone up from the cherub, whereupon he was, to the threshold of the house. And he called to

the man clothed with linen, which had the writer’s inkhorn by his side; 4 And the LORD said unto him,

Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of

the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.

• “5 ¶ And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your

eye spare, neither have ye pity: 6 Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and

women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they

began at the ancient men which were before the house.” Ezek. 9:2-6.

• Here the people are shown to be in a mixed state (tares and wheat commingled), with the time just

ahead of them when on the one hand those who have sighed and cried for the abominations in their

midst shall receive the mark of deliverance, while on the other hand those who have

• not sighed and cried shall be left without the mark, to perish (in their sins) under the angels' slaughter

weapons. From this separation -- the one in the church -- come forth the first fruits.” —V.T. Houteff,

The Judgment and the Harvest (Tract 3), p. 43-44.

• “Then follows the separation from among the nations, as seen in the parable of Matthew 25,

prophetically describing Christ's coming, though not the one viewed in 1 Thessalonians 4:16, 17, for at

the time of the latter, "the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be

caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air"; whereas at the time of the

former, "when the Son of man shall come in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then shall He sit

upon the throne of His glory [the kingdom-church, which up to this point consists only of the first fruits].

Page 7: Daniel, Prophet of the End *Lesson 13 (Daniel) - …...Page 1 of 20 Daniel, Prophet of the End *Lesson 13 (Daniel) - From Dust to Stars Commentary by Garrick Augustus, March 28, 2020

• "And before Him shall be gathered all nations: and He shall separate them one from another, as a

shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: and He shall set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats

on the left. Then shall the King say unto them on His right hand [these being the second fruits], Come, ye

blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world....Then

shall He say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from Me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared

for the devil and his angels." Matt. 25:31-34, 41.” —V.T. Houteff, The Judgment and the Harvest (Tract

3), p. 45-46.

• “From this separation -- the one among the nations -- come forth the second fruits. “The angels who are

round about the throne in the heavenly sanctuary during the judgment of Daniel 7:9, 10 and of

Revelation 5:11 shall, as the parables explain, descend with "the Son of man" when He comes "to His

temple" (His church) to separate by judgment "the wicked from among the just," and to purge as gold

and silver those "who may abide the day of His coming...that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in

righteousness." Mal. 3: 2, 3.

• “In graphic demonstration that He will come to earth with all His angels to execute judgment upon the

living, the Lord revealed Himself prophetically to Ezekiel as being brought enthroned to earth by four

living creatures just before the slaughter of the hypocrites in the church takes place.” —V.T. Houteff,

The Judgment and the Harvest (Tract 3), p. 46

• “And as each of the living creatures has the face of a lion, the face of a calf, the face of a man, and the

face of an eagle (Ezek. 1:10), -- the same judicial insignia as have the beasts who are before the throne in

the heavenly sanctuary (Rev. 4:7) in the time of the judgment of the dead, -- and as they descend to

earth, they thereby symbolically show that the work of the mediatorial-judicial throne which convenes

and presides over the judgment of the dead is extended to earth.”

• “This extension, so far as we are able to know now, must take place at the opening of the seventh seal

(Rev. 8:1), for at that time the celestial voices, which opened the judgment of the dead, cease in the

heavenly sanctuary and begin, after the half hour's silence, to sound on earth. In other words, just as in

heaven at the opening of the judgment of the dead, there were "lightnings and thunderings and voices"

(Rev. 4:5), likewise on earth at the opening of the "judgment of the living," there are "voices, and

thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake." Rev. 8:5.”—V.T. Houteff, The Judgment and the

Harvest (Tract 3), p. 47

• “With the judgment of the dead, however, the work of separation takes place in the books in the

heavenly sanctuary; whereas with the judgment of the living, the separation takes place among the

people in the church as well as among their names in the books in the heavenly sanctuary, thus showing

that both sanctuaries will finally be cleansed.

• “Inescapably, therefore, the Lord's coming to His temple (Mal. 3:1-3), His coming with all His angels

(Matt. 25), and His coming enthroned above the living creatures (Ezek. 1), -- all three representing the

same event as has been shown, -- take place at the beginning of the judgment of the living: the time in

which the judicial activities of the heavenly sanctuary extend to the earthly sanctuary -- the church.” —

V.T. Houteff, The Judgment and the Harvest (Tract 3), p. 47-48

• "And I looked, and behold a white cloud," exclaimed John the Revelator, envisaging the same coming

variously described by Malachi, Matthew, and Ezekiel, "and upon the cloud One sat like unto the Son of

man, having on His head a golden crown, and in His hand a sharp sickle. And another angel came out of

the temple, crying with a loud voice to Him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in Thy sickle, and reap: for the

time is come for Thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe. And He that sat on the cloud thrust in

His sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped." Rev. 14:14-16.

• “This coming of the Son of man is plainly, therefore, not when the resurrected and the living righteous

are caught up together to meet Him in the air: for verses 17-20, following the ones quoted in the

paragraph above, reveal that after He came and reaped the earth, "another angel...having a sharp

sickle" came and reaped a second harvest before the wrath of God -- the seven last plagues (Rev. 15:1) --

was poured out upon the wicked.” —V.T. Houteff, The Judgment and the Harvest (Tract 3), p. 48.

• “Thus again and for the fourth time it is seen that there are two different comings of the Son of man:

the one to "sever the wicked from among the just" in the church (Matt. 13:49), and then immediately to

call the just from among the wicked in Babylon (Rev. 18:4); the other to take the saints, both the

resurrected and the living, to the mansions which He has prepared for them (1 Thess. 4:16; John 14:1-3).

• “At the former coming of the Son of man, the stone which smote the great image was cut out without

hands (without man's aid, and by the Lord Himself) because, as the Lord says, "there was none to help;

and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore Mine own arm brought salvation unto Me;

and My fury, it upheld Me. And I will tread down the people in Mine anger, and make them drunk in My

fury and I will bring down their strength to the earth." Isa. 63:5, 6.” —V.T. Houteff, The Judgment and

the Harvest (Tract 3), p. 48, 49

• “This work of separation, or cleansing, brought to view in the parable of Matthew 13:30 and again in

that of Matthew 13:47-49, also in the prophecy of Malachi 3:1-3 and in that of Ezekiel 9, as well as in

Revelation 14, is directly applicable to the judgment day for the living; but the cleansing of the sanctuary

at the end of the 2300 days according to Daniel 8:14 and Daniel 7:9, 10 applies directly to the Judgment

Among The Dead.” .” —V.T. Houteff, The Judgment and the Harvest (Tract 3), p. 49

• “Then we shall no longer have to fight against the flesh, but that sinless life which we laid hold of by

faith and which was manifest in our sinful bodies, will then by simple faith be continued throughout all

eternity in the sinless body. That is to say, when God has given this witness to the world of his power to

save to the uttermost, to save sinful beings, and to live a perfect life in sinful flesh, then he will remove

the disabilities and give us better circumstances in which to live. But first of all this wonder must be

worked out in sinful man, not simply in the person of Jesus Christ, but in Jesus Christ reproduced and

multiplied in the thousands of his followers. So that not simply in the few sporadic cases, but in the

whole body of the church, the perfect life of Christ will be manifested to the world, and that will be the

last crowning work which will either save or condemn men; and greater testimony than that there is

not, and cannot be, because there is none greater than God.” – {E.J. Waggoner, GCB, Vol. 4 April 22,

1901, p. 405.6]

There Shall be a Time of Trouble

• “5 For thus saith the LORD; We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of peace. 6 Ask ye

now, and see whether a man doth travail with child? wherefore do I see every man with his hands on

his loins, as a woman in travail, and all faces are turned into paleness? 7 Alas! for that day is great, so

that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble; but he shall be saved out of it… 10 Therefore

fear thou not, O my servant Jacob, saith the LORD; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for, lo, I will save

thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be in

rest, and be quiet, and none shall make him afraid. 11 For I am with thee, saith the LORD, to save thee:

though I make a full end of all nations whither I have scattered thee, yet will I not make a full end of

thee: but I will correct thee in measure, and will not leave thee altogether unpunished.” Jer. 30: 5-11

• I saw that God had children who do not see and keep the Sabbath. They have not rejected the light upon

it. And at the commencement of the time of trouble, we were filled with the Holy Ghost as we went

forth and proclaimed the Sabbath more fully…

• “And at this time God's chosen all saw clearly that we had the truth, and they came out and endured

the persecution with us. I saw the sword, famine, pestilence, and great confusion in the land. The

wicked thought that we had brought the judgments upon them, and they rose up and took counsel to

rid the earth of us, thinking that then the evil would be stayed. In the time of trouble we all fled from

the cities and villages, but were pursued by the wicked, who entered the houses of the saints with a

sword. They raised the sword to kill us, but it broke, and fell as powerless as a straw.” {EW 33.2-34}

• Lesson Notes (Monday): “The time of Michael’s intervention is also described as a time of trouble

without parallel. This corresponds to the time when God’s Spirit will be withdrawn from rebellious

humankind. Then the seven last plagues… will be poured upon the end-time Babylon (Revelation

16; Rev. 18:20-24) and the powers of darkness will be unleashed upon the world.”

• "The commencement of that time of trouble," here mentioned does not refer to the time when the

plagues shall begin to be poured out, but to a short period just before they are poured out, while Christ

is in the sanctuary. At that time, while the work of salvation is closing, trouble will be coming on the

earth, and the nations will be angry, yet held in check so as not to prevent the work of the third angel.

At that time the "latter rain," or refreshing from the presence of the Lord, will come, to give power to

the loud voice of the third angel, and prepare the saints to stand in the period when the seven last

plagues shall be poured out. “ {EW 85.3}

• These two disparate ides have no resemblance to each other and demonstrate that one is correct and

the other in error, or they are both erroneous, as a third option! How then do we stand? Well, with

what we have previously discussed, and the solid Biblical foundation already laid, it is painfully obvious

that the Quarterly’s doctrines are inconsistent with the Bible’s Truth. Their position, however, must be

addressed, for Sister White has given recognition to this view at one point in her understandings, a view

which she later corrected but which is still taught as the prevailing understanding of the Bible passage in

question. But she has also warned us to recognize that more light will shine on the books of Daniel and

the Revelation, and we must be prepared for that light as well, rather than do as some, walk in darkness

when God promises “more light!”

The Special Resurrection; Tuesday March 24 • “2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and

some to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the

firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.” Dan. 12: 2, 3.*

• * When we respect the timeframe God has given us as to when the events of verses 1-4 occur, then we

shall be prepared to acknowledge the thrice-repeated phrase, “that time.” Ignoring this landmark and

seeking to establish a new one, is to go beyond, and teach that which is not prompted by the Spirit of

God. Les us again recall that these are not Daniel’s words but Gabriel’s instead!

• In this resurrection it is very obvious that a mixed-multitude of saints and sinners is being raised to life,

as clear evidence that this cannot be the “first resurrection” on whom “the second death hath no

power,” (Rev. 20: 6)! So, when does this resurrection convene, is it during probationary time or after?

• “Many of the prophecies are about to be fulfilled in quick succession. Every element of power is about

to be set to work. Past history will be repeated; old controversies will arouse to new life, and peril will

beset God's people on every side. Intensity is taking hold of the human family. It is permeating

everything upon the earth. . . . {Mar 30.4}

• “Study Revelation in connection with Daniel, for history will be repeated. . . . We, with all our religious

advantages, ought to know far more today than we do know. {Mar 30.5}**

• ** In light of this solemn fact that the histories in both Daniel and the Revelation “will be repeated,” we

are better positioned to appreciate the deeper truths that are provided in this concluding chapter of

Daniel’s. We should do well to get a deeper understanding of the resurrection here envisaged.

• “And they that be wise [teachers/preachers] shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they

that turn many to righteousness [shall shine] as the stars for ever and ever.” Dan. 12:3.*

• The verb “turn” is written in the present, active, tense, meaning it is not something that had occurred in

the past, nor a work to be done I the future, but presently they “turn many to righteousness” through

the preaching work of the everlasting gospel message that they proclaim. It is in this sense, and in this

sense alone that we are confident that the gospel work had not yet closed when Michael stood up and

delivered the saints from the time of trouble! We willingly confess that lacking light on the pre-Advent

kingdom, Sister White presented these passages after the close of probation, but God would further

instruct her and us, that there is more light to come from Daniel, and as verse 4 so clearly states,

“knowledge shall increase” out of this “sealed book! We shall say more on this aspect in Wednesday’s

lesson.

• “10 And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars

to the ground, and stamped upon them.” Dan. 8: 10.

• “9 And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a

dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me. 10 And

he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this

dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down

ourselves to thee to the earth?” Gen. 37: 9, 10

• “They that be wise”: “10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do

wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise [teachers] shall understand.” Dan. 12:

10

• “33 And they that understand [the wise or teachers] among the people shall instruct many: yet they

shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days. 34 Now when they shall

fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but many shall cleave to them with flatteries. 35 And some of

them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time

of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed.” Dan. 11: 33-35

• “I am instructed to say that when the Holy Spirit gives tongue and utterance, we shall see a work done

similar to that done on the day of Pentecost.” {AUCR, March 11, 1907 par. 12}

• “The Saviour does not point forward to a time when all the tares become wheat. The wheat and tares

grow together until the harvest, the end of the world. Then the tares are bound in bundles to be

burned, and the wheat is gathered into the garner of God. "Then shall the righteous shine forth as the

sun in the kingdom of their Father." Then "the Son of man shall send forth His angels, and they shall

gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; and shall cast them into a

furnace of fire; there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth." {COL 75.1}

• “Servants of God, with their faces lighted up and shining with holy consecration, will hasten from place

to place to proclaim the message from heaven. By thousands of voices, all over the earth, the warning

will be given. Miracles will be wrought, the sick will be healed, and signs and wonders will follow the

believers.” {GC 612.1}

• * What causes the saints to “shine”? This shining is similar to Moses’ after communing with YHWH on

top Mount Sinai, she shone in the iridescent glory of the Father. My friends, that which Moses

experienced as an individual will be realized in the full body of the Church during the Loud Cry of the

Third Angel’s Message, when Pentecost Part-II is repeated in the Latter Rain of power upon the waiting

Church of God.

• “1 ¶ And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the

temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein. 2 But the court which is without the

temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city [earthly

Jerusalem in Israel, Palestine] shall they tread under foot forty and two months. [1260 days]. 3 ¶ And I

will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and

threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. 4 These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks

standing before the God of the earth. 5 And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their

mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed. 6

These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over

waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will. 7 And when

they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make

war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.” Rev. 11: 1-7

• “8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and

Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. 9 And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and

nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be

put in graves. 10 And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and

shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.

11 And after [end of] three days and an half the Spirit of life [breath] from God entered into them, and

they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them. 12 And they heard a great

voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and

their enemies beheld them. 13 And the same hour [resurrection] was there a great earthquake, and

the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the

remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.” Rev. 11: 8-13

• * These "two witnesses" shall give their "testimony" during the 42 months of Jacob's time of Trouble;

they are to be spirit filled with a missionary zeal, paralleled only by the apostolic Church at Pentecost–

the Church of the former rain in power. It is of interest to note also that the ministry of the Messiah,

"the Faithful and True Witness" (Rev. 3: 14), lasted for exactly forty and two months, 3½ years, or 1260

literal days, at the end of which He was killed. It should not surprise us that these "two witnesses" will

also be "killed" at the end of their ministry, when they shall have finished their testimony. Their death

however, will only be to the glory of God. It should be remembered also, that during the 3½ years of His

ministry here on earth, the Messiah endowed his disciples with the power of the Holy Spirit. This was a

pre-Pentecostal outpouring of the Holy Spirit, to allow his disciples to declare the gospel of the kingdom

throughout the entire realm of Israel. They were given power over unclean spirits and over all manner

of sicknesses and diseases, they were even permitted to raise the dead to life.

Rev. 11: 13 in Parallel Versions

• Contemporary English Version: “Seven thousand people were killed, and the rest were frightened and

praised the God who rules in heaven.”

• Good News Translation: “The rest of the people were terrified and praised the greatness of the God of

heaven.

• Douay-Rheims Bible: “And the rest were cast into a fear, and gave glory to the God of heaven.”

• Darby Bible Translation: “And the remnant were filled with fear, and gave glory to the God of the

heaven.”

• “6 ¶ And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto

them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, 7 Saying with a

loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that

made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.” Rev. 14: 6, 7*

• * Clearly, in this repeat of the Three Angel’s Message, it is directed to the living, and is rightly called “the

judgment for the living.” How do we know that the judgment has changed phases and is now turned to

the living? The answer is embedded in the passage: Only the living can “fear God,” and only the living

can “worship Him,” for “the dead know not anything.” (Eccl. 9: 5). Further, too, we are told, “The dead

praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence.” Ps. 115:17. Therefore, as long as they are

dead, such ones cannot praise God, let alone worship Him!

Third Angel’s Message Repeated

• “10 And I took the little book out of the angel’s hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as

honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter. 11 And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy

again.” Revelation 10:10, 11.

• “As the investigative judgment is in two sections (the first, devoted to the dead; the second, to the

living), the fact is evidenced that though the first, the second, and the third, angels' messages apply

directly to the period of the judgment of the living, they must also, though indirectly, apply to the

period of the judgment of the dead. Thus only, except as a warning of coming events, have they been

preached since 1844. Hence, when the judgment of the living commences, and when the image of the

beast is fully made up, then these messages are, with a loud cry, to be repeated as present truth

concerning the living instead of the dead.”—V.T. Houteff, Behold I Make All Things New (Tract 9), pp.

99, 100.

• “In history and prophecy the Word of God portrays the long, continued conflict between truth and error.

That conflict is yet in progress. Those things that have been will be repeated.”--{CTr 341.2}

The Special Resurrection

• “11 And after [at the end of] three days and an half [not 3 ½ years] the Spirit of life from God [breath]

entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them. 12

And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to

heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.” Rev. 11: 11, 12.

• From the Scripture record, these saints will not be buried , but their dead bodies shall lie in the street of

the cities of this world, in the places they were slain. They will not remain on the surface of the ground

to rot, but to the glory of GOD. Their dead bodies shall only remain upon the earth for 3½ literal days,

thus they will not see corruption.

• The "Spirit [breath] of life from God" now entering into these "dead bodies" indicates a resurrection

similar to that of Ezek. 37: 1-14.

• “And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some

to shame and everlasting contempt.” Dan. 12: 2.

• Dan. 12: 2 in the Contemporary English Version: “Many of those who lie dead in the ground will rise

from death. Some of them will be given eternal life, and others will receive nothing but eternal shame

and disgrace.”

Page 14: Daniel, Prophet of the End *Lesson 13 (Daniel) - …...Page 1 of 20 Daniel, Prophet of the End *Lesson 13 (Daniel) - From Dust to Stars Commentary by Garrick Augustus, March 28, 2020

• In Dan. 12: 2, 3: Notice that at this resurrection both the wicked and the righteous are raised, "some to

everlasting life"–the righteous, and "some to shame and everlasting contempt"–the wicked. Among this

resurrected class of saints are those who are “wise” [teachers, margin], who will "turn many to

righteousness," through the proclamation of the everlasting gospel, and thus shall they "shine as the

brightness of the firmament." With this time in view, the pen of Inspiration in our day declares, in 7T, p.

17.

• The only "work" given to the believers in Messiah is to live righteous lives for Him, and to present His

light of Truth and Love to the rest of the world, calling all to repentance toward God, and faith in His

Son. This will be the work of these resurrected "witnesses.“

• Lesson Notes: “Because Michael “stand[s] up” (see Dan. 12:1), those who belong to Him will also stand

up. They will rise from the “earth of dust” to shine like the stars for ever and ever.”*

• * This statement suggests that ONLY “those who belong to Him will also stand up” at this resurrection,

but that is to misapply the Scriptures, for they clearly teach that two classes of the dead will arise, those

marked for “everlasting life” and those marked for “everlasting” death!

• “[Daniel 12:2 quoted] All who have died in the faith of the third angel's message come forth from the

tomb glorified, to hear God's covenant of peace with those who have kept His law. "They also which

pierced Him" (Revelation 1:7), those that mocked and derided Christ's dying agonies, and the most

violent opposers of His truth and His people, are raised to behold Him in His glory and to see the honor

placed upon the loyal and obedient.” {GC 637.1}**

• ** Most Adventists hold that this “partial resurrection” occurs after the close of probation, and have

used this view to assail those Present Truth believers who hold differently, but a careful read of the Bible

will immediately dispel this confusion. I must confess, though, that purely relying on reading The Great

Controversy divest from the Bible, will yield this and other erroneous conclusions, but when taken in

totality of the subject from the Bible’s point of view, we will see that the time of trouble is divided in

two segments—a probationary phase, and a post probationary one—time of the plagues. Michael does

not stand up to “deliver” His saints from “the seven last plagues,” from the wrath of the dragon!

• What is this “covenant of peace” that the Creator will make with his covenant-keeping people? Let’s

read the answer in 1 Chron. 16:

• “13 O ye seed of Israel his servant, ye children of Jacob, his chosen ones. 14 He is the LORD our God; his

judgments are in all the earth. 15 Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the word which he commanded

to a thousand generations; 16 Even of the covenant which he made with Abraham, and of his oath

unto Isaac; 17 And hath confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting

covenant, 18 Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance; 19 When ye

were but few, even a few, and strangers in it. 20 And when they went from nation to nation, and from

one kingdom to another people; 21 He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for

their sakes, 22 Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.” 1 Chron. 16: 13-22*

• *It is helpful to see here the relationship between God’s “anointed” ones, and their being his

“prophets,” just as we’ve seen in Revelation 11, wherein the “two witnesses” are called “two prophets.”

• “37 Behold, I will gather them out of all countries, whither I have driven them in mine anger, and in my

fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause them to dwell

safely: 38 And they shall be my people, and I will be their God:39 And I will give them one heart, and

one way, that they may fear me forever, for the good of them, and of their children after them:40 And I

will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but

I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me. 41 Yea, I will rejoice over them to

do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole

soul.” Jer. 32: 37-41

7 Facts About Michael’s Stands Up

• When Michael stands up, seven specific transactions will occur:

1. The KON will be crushed—“comes to his end”

2. The liberation of the saints from the hands of their oppressors —KON.

3. The liberation of the sleeping saints entombed in their graves—special resurrection.

4. The liberation of the true church from the tares, as she will then be composed purely of those

whose names are “found written in the Book” of life—purification of the church

5. Restoration of the “everlasting covenant”—the giving of the Kingdom to Abraham’s seed

6. The “latter rain” in power is poured out upon the purified ones—The Loud Cry period of the

Third Angel’s message begins.

7. It will happen in the time of the end of the world —in a technologically advanced age.

Antitypical Pentecost, Acts 2—II

• “It is with an earnest longing that I look forward to the time when the events of the Day of Pentecost

shall be repeated with even greater power than on that occasion. John says, "I saw another angel come

down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory" [Rev. 18:1]. Then, as

at the Pentecostal season, the people will hear the truth spoken to them, every man in his own

tongue.--6BC 1055 (1886).” {LDE 202.3}.

• “I am instructed to say that when the Holy Spirit gives tongue and utterance, we shall see a work done

similar to that done on the day of Pentecost.” {AUCR, March 11, 1907 par. 12}

Show the Former Things…

• “21 ¶ Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob. 22

Let them bring them forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what

they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to

come.” Isa. 41: 21, 22.

• “50 ¶ Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. 51 And, behold, the veil of

the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, 53 And came out of

the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.” Matt. 27: 50-

53

• “But those who came forth from the grave at Christ's resurrection were raised to everlasting life… I

have brought them from the grave as the first fruits of My power, to be with Me where I am,

nevermore to see death or experience sorrow. {DA 786.2}

• “These went into the city, and appeared unto many, declaring, Christ has risen from the dead, and we

be risen with Him. Thus was immortalized the sacred truth of the resurrection. The risen saints bore

witness to the truth of the words, "Thy dead men shall live, together with My dead body shall they

arise." Their resurrection was an illustration of the fulfillment of the prophecy, "Awake and sing, ye that

dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead." Isaiah 26:19.

{DA 786.3} *

• It is beneficial to see this passage, Isa. 26: 19, I the full context of the chapter, for it bears a message of

Present Truth for no other era but ours:

• “19 Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that

dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead. 20 ¶ Come, my

people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little

moment, until the indignation be overpast. 21 For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to

punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall

no more cover her slain.” Isa. 26: 19-21

The Sealed-Open Book; Wednesday March 25 • “4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall

run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.” Dan. 12: 4*

• * We often think that the “increased” knowledge in Daniel concerns primarily the fields of intellectual

and scientific studies, and while these advances are included, the truth is clear that it was the book of

Daniel, above all else, that was “shut up” and waiting to be opened by Christ in “the time of the end.”

This book, once shut, is now unsealed by the Spirit of God, and t stretches over two phases of the

judgment. There is light that has been revealed for the Judgment of the dead, of which we as

Adventists are very conversant. But there is additional light that it also contains for the Judgment for

the Living, of which we as Adventists, are totally ignorant. And unless we give way to the Spirit of God

to open our eyes, we shall continue to stumble in darkness, calling truth error, and error truth, simply

because we do not keep apace with the progressive revelations by the Spirit of God. Throughout this

quarter, for example, we have cited many major errors that are taught in the Quarterly as Truth, but

which the Word of God patently opposes!

• “Daniel stood in his lot to bear his testimony which was sealed until the time of the end, when the first

angel's message should be proclaimed to our world... {TM 115.3}

• “Will our brethren bear in mind that we are living amid the perils of the last days? Read Revelation in

connection with Daniel. Teach these things… Those who eat the flesh and drink the blood of the Son of

God will bring from the books of Daniel and Revelation truth that is inspired by the Holy Spirit. They

will start into action forces that cannot be repressed. The lips of children will be opened to proclaim the

mysteries that have been hidden from the minds of men.” {TM 116.1}

• “The Reformation did not, as many suppose, end with Luther. It is to be continued to the close of this

world's history. Luther had a great work to do in reflecting to others the light which God had permitted

to shine upon him; yet he did not receive all the light which was to be given to the world. From that

time to this, new light has been continually shining upon the Scriptures, and new truths have been

constantly unfolding. {GC88 148.3}

• Let no one come to the conclusion that there is no more truth to be revealed. The diligent, prayerful

seeker for truth will find precious rays of light yet to shine forth from the word of God. Many gems are

yet scattered that are to be gathered together to become the property of the remnant people of

God.” {SSW, March 1, 1892 par. 4}

• “Men entertain errors, when the truth is clearly marked out; and if they would but bring their

doctrines to the word of God, and not read the word of God in the light of their doctrines, to prove their

ideas right, they would not walk in darkness and blindness, or cherish error. Many give the words of

Scripture a meaning that suits their own opinions …by their misinterpretations of God's word.” {CW

36.3}

• “I have been shown that many who profess to have a knowledge of present truth, know not what they

believe. They do not understand the evidences of their faith. They have no just appreciation of the work

for the present time. When the time of trial shall come, there are men now preaching to others, who

will find, upon examining the positions they hold, that there are many things for which they can give

no satisfactory reason. Until thus tested, they knew not their great ignorance.” {CW 39.2}

The Waiting Time; Thursday March 26 • “5 ¶ Then I Daniel looked, and, behold, there stood other two, the one on this side of the bank of the

river, and the other on that side of the bank of the river. 6 And one said to the man clothed in linen,

which was upon the waters of the river, How long shall it be to the end of these wonders? 7 And I

heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand

and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times,

and an half; and when he [KON] shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people

[Jacob’s time of trouble], all these things shall be finished. 8 And I heard, but I understood not: then

said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things? 9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the

words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.” Dan. 12: 5-9*

• * We have previously established, in chapter 10, that the man in the linen garment is indisputably Christ,

attired in His High Priestly garment! This illustrates that the work in the Sanctuary is in session, and

probation is opened to all. In these verses also, we are introduced to “two” who are ignorant of the

times covered by these prophecies, thus their question, “How long shall it be to the end?” This question

indicates that they are humans and not angels, and it will be realized too, that Daniel also posed the

same question (verse 7), after Michael had provided an answer, indicating that he too needed to have

understood about “time, times, and an half.” Although Daniel understood “the truth” (Dan. 7: 20) on

the first aspect of the 1,260 years as having to do with Papal oppression of the Church of God for (Dan.

7: 25), he was totally clueless as to its repeat under the latter-day KON! The truth of this time measure,

however, can only be ascertained from its type. As we have earlier stated, the some phases of truths of

these truths will be repeated, as they are preached the ministration of both aspects of the Judgment

(Dean and Living). As in Revelation 11 an the “two” witnesses, we are also seeing the “two” witnesses

here in Daniel.

• “The Holy People:” God’s “two witnesses,” being the righteous people on earth, His end-time remnant,

their being “scattered” shows the end-time “Trouble” they’d be subjected to by the KON, also known in

prophecy as the “two-horned beast”—The United States of America. It now becomes clear that the USA

will launch a system of persecution upon the Church of God that will cause them to be “scattered,” but

God will “gather” them for His kingdom. On this too, Daniel was clear, both in Chapter 2: 44, and here:

“and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.” (Dan. 7: 23).

• “11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh

desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. 12 Blessed is he that waiteth,

and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days. 13 But go thou thy way till the

end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.” Dan. 12: 11-13

• Judgment for the Dead Understanding of the three Time periods:

1. “The 1,260 years of papal supremacy, which extended from A.D. 538 to 1798 A.D.”

2. “Thus, this prophetic period should start in A.D. 508, when Clovis, king of the Francs, converted to

the Catholic faith. This important event paved the way for the union between church and state,

which held sway throughout the Middle Ages. Hence 1,290 days ended in 1798”

3. “The 1,335 days, the last prophetic period mentioned in Daniel, ended in 1843. This was the time of

the Millerite movement and renewed study of the biblical prophecies.”—Extracted from Thursday’s

Lesson notes.*

• While it is well to see these dates under the Judgment for the Dead, it is supremely important to understand

them under the light of the Judgment for the living:

• The Daily: We have previously established that “the Daily:” has to do with the Law of God, “the Holy

Covenant.” Thus, there must come, according to prophecy, that time when the Law of God will be made

void in the Land of the King of the North!

• “It is time for thee, LORD, to work: for they have made void thy law.” Ps. 119:126*

• * When the Law of the Land shall make void every precept of the Law of God and enforce obedience by civil

penalties and outright persecution, then may we know that the time has come when “the daily” is again

taken away as under the inquisition of Papal Rome. Do recall that the two horned beast is to make an image

to the wounded, leopard-like beast of Rev. 13, thereby inventing a mirror image to that despotic system,

and enforce it upon the people of God on pain of death for noncompliance!

• “The abomination that maketh desolate,” is the enforcement of the false Papal Sabbath above YHWH’s

Commandment, the Sabbath of Creation.

On Dan. 12: 13: The fact that Daniel was told to "rest" and "stand in [his] lot at the end of the [1335] days,"

clears the proof that he is included in special resurrection along with many others of God’s faithful saints, who

will arise from their dusty beds and "turn many to righteousness.“

The night of the saints’ trial is darkest just before the dawn of Michael’s deliverance! If only we will persevere to

the end in the faith of Jesus Christ (Y’shuah) our King, we shall be saved. Hold on Friend when the fires of

persecution rage over your soul, hold on to God when the storm blows over you and swelling billows foam, hold

on to God when the rough winds of privation threaten your earthly existence, hold on to God when family and

friends betray you and the religious world defame you, hold on to God when you are brought before magistrates

to answer for your faith in Messiah, just keep your focus on Him and His Kingdom, and hold on steadfastly to the

King of your salvation—the Rock of Ages that clefts for thee. Resurrection and translation are just around the

corner, so hold on to God with all the faith you have in his true, and sure, and blessed promises.

Thought Questions:

I will forego the questions here, as this lesson is sufficiently long, but encourage each reader to study and

restudy the material herein presented.
