WATER QUALITY OPERATOR – GRADE II Daphne Utilities

Daphne Utilities is seeking a qualified, certified GRADE II WATER QUALITY OPERATOR to join its team to operate, monitor, and maintain water treatment plant systems and related equipment to provide quality drinking water for public use.

• Must be able to operate various machinery, equipment and tools associated with plant operations, which may include a utility truck, volumetric dry feeder, induction motor, chlorinator, vertical centrifugal pump, vertical turbine pump, metering pump, drum pump, SCADA monitoring system, digital cylinder scale, generator, air compressor, meters, gauges, spectrophotometer, scales, laboratory paraphernalia, self-contained breathing apparatus, drill, grinder, diagnostic instruments, mechanic tools, carpentry tools, valve wrenches, hand tools, testing materials, radio communications equipment, or general office equipment.

• Must be able to operate a computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data; verifies accuracy of entered data and makes corrections; utilizes word processing, spreadsheet, database, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system, Internet, e-mail, or other computer applications.

• Must be able to proficiently read, write and communicate clearly in English. • Must be able to travel throughout the Baldwin County area regularly and out of town occasionally. • Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division; ability to calculate decimals and

percentages. • Must be able to use hands, fingers and wrist repetitively, using a keyboard. • Must be able to stand and walk around regularly, both inside and outside, sometimes in inclement

weather and on uneven terrain. Must be able to lift, carry, push and/or pull objects and materials in excess of 50 lbs.

• Must be able to work some overtime, holidays and weekends. Experience and Education Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; and vocational/technical training in water treatment plant operations; and two (2) years previous experience and/or training involving water treatment plant operations, SCADA system operations, and equipment maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

• Must possess and maintain a valid Alabama Grade II Water Treatment Plant Operator License. • Must possess and maintain a valid Alabama driver’s license and be insurable. • Must pass a Drug Screen and criminal background check.
