Darren Cooper [email protected] 07923 389845 PERSONAL STATEMENT/ACHIEVEMENTS As a motivated and effective manager of teams, having a proven track record as a First Line Manager I am currently running the Nights operation for DHL on the Marks and Spencer contract. This involves all aspects of the operation from inbound receiving, both GM stock and Cross Dock stock as well as put away/ picking through to despatch of stores vehicles, Returns from stores and despatch of Equipment loads to other RDC and NDC.With a mixed team of core staff and agency circa 60-70 heads at peak. This is a pressurised volume driven environment with stringent time constraints to fulfil vehicle despatch times and also adhere to site KPI along with client KPI to receive the cross dock vehicles within client dwell time allowances. From planning the shift to fulfilling all aspects on a changing daily basis depends on where and what volumes of work are handed over from the AM and PM shifts. This results in a reaction to many different areas that need to be covered. Ensuring all staff are fully trained whilst adhering to SOP procedures and following strict Health and safety guidelines. This is a non MHE site unlike my previous experience which had a high MHE involvement. Prior to nights I ran the Hanging receiving function and the Box receiving function within an operational team of 6 -8 FLM,s. I firmly believe when operating in a multicultural, inclusive environment, success is bred from motivating and managing others effectively, safely and leading by example is paramount in ensuring high performance levels from the team. Within my team, disciplinary matters are dealt with quickly and fairly, grievances are sensitively handled, Health and Safety is of paramount importance, absence is managed within Site policy and a strong team ethos has been nurtured. I believe that enthusiasm and energy would bring success to a role like this and have shown this character by acting as a key team player in the warehouse during peak trading. As a strong first line manager, I will always strive to succeed and improve myself, my team and my targets. KEY SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES Forward planning and ability to prioritise In my current role, developing the skill sets to structure and forward plan a shift using figures of what products are available and prioritising products when needed, to deliver a set target on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. From

planning the shift to fulfilling all aspects on a changing daily basis depends on where and what volumes of work are handed over from the AM and PM shifts. This results in a reaction to many different areas that need to be covered. Ensuring all staff are fully trained whilst adhering to SOP procedures and following strict Health and safety guidelines. This is a non MHE site unlike my previous experience which had a high

MHE involvement. Prior to nights I ran the Hanging receiving function and the Box receiving function within an operational team of 6 -8 FLM,s. I firmly believe when operating in a multicultural, inclusive environment, success is bred from motivating and managing others effectively, safely and leading by example is

paramount in ensuring high performance levels from the team. Within my team, disciplinary matters are dealt with quickly and fairly, grievances are sensitively handled, Health and Safety is of paramount importance, absence is managed within Site policy and a strong team ethos has been nurtured. I believe that enthusiasm and energy would bring success to a role like this and have shown this character by acting

as a key team player in the warehouse during peak trading. As a strong first line manager, I will always strive to succeed and improve myself, my team and my targets.

KEY SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

Forward planning and ability to prioritise In my current role, developing the skill sets to structure and forward plan a shift using figures of

what products are available and prioritising products when needed, to deliver a set target on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

Good time-management skills

I can effectively manage a shift and achieve time driven targets and KPI’s at regular intervals, managing problems and manoeuvring resources to ensure time and budget restraints are adhered to, highlighting issues to the Operation that can affect a positive outcome.

Effective communication skills As a Business Development Manager, I developed particularly effective communication skills and can

comfortably develop relationships with various parties including senior management and clients, both on an internal and external level.

Ensuring swift communication of up-to –date information for shift hand overs and Commcell meetings is a key part of my role and ensuring that my shift is updated with all relevant information they need to enable them to work to their optimum capability.

Efficient team working/building skills and interpersonal skills A proven track record within my current role working to develop a team culture, with the ability to

enthuse others; inspire a positive attitude and use effective delegation as demonstrated in consistent efficient team performances, with targets positively achieved.

Currently, we train staff to a high standard evidenced by all of their personal KPI’s rising and also organise shift rotas, teams and sign off SOP sheets and risk assessments.

Flexible and adaptable Having had a variety of roles through my career and also having been self-employed, I can adapt to

any number of given scenarios and environments with ease.

Showing flexibility whilst working within the Unipart Logistics environment, as on numerous occasions having been asked to alter shift patterns in my 24 hour rota, work with different teams and departments or take on different products at very short notice and have still achieved results

through the ability to adapt in these situations

Creative problem solving and use of initiative

Problem solving in my current role is on an adhoc basis as they arise during a shift

The use of process improvements is key and on an annual basis to identify issues solve the issue and implement a new process is a business requirement. Having recently implemented a binning process

on Return to Warehouse items this has reduced significantly the cost of errors to the business thus increasing the site profitability.

Motivational and influential skills

Within my current role, working on nights, I have had to motivate and influence the team positively e.g. Targeting the fact the team need more understanding of the new cross dock processes the overall warehouse impact and the changing face to the business, it has motivated them to positively embrace the shift changes needed to deliver this, as they now understand why these were

implemented.

Technical and computer skills

The site runs a warehouse management system alongside Red Prairie to report on individuals measured performance feeding back to them on a daily and monthly basis.

Transferable skills

Given my varied background and having a number of transferable skills including keeping a cool head in pressurised situations, evidenced by managing a large free-house with huge seasonal variances in staff numbers and volume sales; also independent working skills, evidenced by a home-working commission only based role in sales.
