Agricultural Use Requirements UsethisproductonlyinaccordancewithitslabelingandwiththeWorkerProtectionStandard,40CFRpart170.ThisStandardcontainsrequirementsfortheprotectionofagriculturalworkersonfarms,forests,nurseries,andgreenhouses,andhandlersofagriculturalpesticides.Itcontainsrequirementsfortraining,decontamination,notification,andemergencyassistance.ItalsocontainsspecificinstructionsandexceptionspertainingtothestatementsonthislabelaboutPersonalProtectiveEquipment(PPE)andrestricted-entryinterval.TherequirementsinthisboxonlyapplytousesofthisproductthatarecoveredbytheWorkerProtectionStandard. Donotenterorallowworkerentryintotreatedareasduringtherestrictedentryinterval(REI)of48hours. Resistance Management Guidelines •Developmentofplantpopulationsresistanttothisherbicidemode

ofactionisusuallynotaproblemonrangeland,permanentgrasspastures,ConservationReserveProgram(CRP),ornon-croplandsitessincethesesitesreceiveinfrequentpesticideapplications.

•Incroplands,useaneffectiveintegratedpestmanagement(IPM)program,integratingtillageorothermechanicalmethods,croprotation orotherculturalcontrolmethodsintoweedcontrolprogramswheneverpractical.

•Similarlookingbiotypesofagivenweedspeciesoccurringinatreatedareamayvaryintheirsusceptibilitytoaherbicide.Applicationofaherbicidebelowitslabeledratemayallowmoretolerantweedstosurviveandashifttomoretolerantbiotypeswithinthetreatedarea.

•Whereidentified,spreadingofresistantweedstootherfieldsmaybepreventedbycleaningharvestingandtillageequipmentbeforemovingtootherareasandbyplantingweed-freeseed.

•Contactyourextensionspecialist,certifiedcropconsultant,orDow AgroSciencesrepresentativeforthelatestresistancemanagement information.

Use Precautions •Applicationsmadeduringperiodsofintenserainfall,tosoilssaturated

withwater,surfacespavedwithmaterialssuchasasphaltorconcrete,orsoilsthroughwhichrainfallwillnotreadilypenetratemayresultinrunoffandmovementofMilestone.Injurytocropsmayresultiftreatedsoiland/orrunoffwatercontainingMilestoneiswashed,ormovedontolandusedtoproducecrops.ExposuretoMilestonemayinjureorkillsusceptiblecropsandotherplants,suchasgrapes,soybeans,tobacco,sensitiveornamentals.

• Grass revegetation:•Milestonecanbeusedtocontrolbroadleafplantsingrass

revegetationprograms.ConsultDowAgroSciences’literatureformoredetailsaboutMilestoneapplicationsandgrassstand establishment.

• Application before seeding grasses•Milestonecanbeappliedtocontrolbroadleafweedsprior

tograssplanting.Grassseedgerminationandseedlingdevelopmentcanbeadverselyeffectedbymanyfactorssuchasseedviabilityandseedlingvigor,soilcondition(sub-optimalsoiltemperaturesorsoilwatercontent),weatherafterplanting, seedbedpreparationandseedplacement,disease,insects,oranimals.Milestoneapplicationswillhelptoreducecompetitionfromweedsandimprovethechanceforsuccessfulgrassstand establishment.Somegrassspeciesaremore sensitiveto Milestone;consultDowAgroSciences’literatureformoredetails.

• Postemergence applications on grass:Duringtheseasonofestablishment,Milestoneshouldbeappliedonlyafterperennialgrassesarewellestablished(havedevelopedagoodsecondaryrootsystemandshowgoodvigor.MostperennialgrassesaretoleranttoMilestoneatthisstageofdevelopment.Milestonemaysuppresscertainestablishedgrasses,suchassmoothbromegrass(Bromus inermis),especiallywhenplantsarestressedbyadverseenvironmental conditions.Plantsshouldrecoverfromthistransientsuppressionwiththeonsetofenvironmentalconditionsfavorabletograssgrowthanduponreleasefromweedcompetition.

• Seeding Broadleaf Plants (Forbs) and Wildflowers Milestonecanbeappliedinthesummertocontrolbroadleafweedspriortoforbplanting.Forbscanbeseeded90daysafterasummerapplicationasadormantfallplantingorthefollowingspring.ConsultDowAgroSAciencesliteraturefordetails.

• Field Bioassay Instructions: Infieldspreviouslytreatedwiththisproduct,plantshorttestrowsoftheintendedrotationalcropacrosstheoriginaldirectionofapplicationinamannertosamplevariabilityinfieldconditionssuchassoiltexture,soilorganicmatter,soilpH,rainfall patternordrainage.Thefieldbioassaycanbeinitiatedoneyear afterthelastapplicationofaminopyralidinthatfield.Observethe testcropforsymptomsofherbicidalactivity,suchaspoorstand(effectonseedgermination),chlorosis(yellowing),epinasty,andnecrosis(deadleavesorshoots),orstunting(reducedgrowth).Ifherbicidalsymptomsdonotoccur,thetestcropcanbegrown.Ifthereisapparentherbicidalactivity,donotplantthefieldtotheintendedrotationalcrop;plantonlytowheat,foragegrasses,nativegrassesorgrassesgrownforhay.

Pasture and Rangeland Restrictions • Do not use grasses treated with Milestone in the

preceding 18-months for hay intended for export outside the United States.

• Hay from areas treated with Milestone in the preceding 18-months CAN NOT be distributed or made available for sale off the farm or ranch where harvested unless allowed by supplemental labeling.

• Hay from areas treated with Milestone in the preceding 18-months CAN NOT be used for silage, haylage, baylage and green chop unless allowed by supplemental labeling.

• Do not move hay made from grass treated with Milestone within the preceding 18-months off farm unless allowed by supplemental labeling. 

• Do not use hay or straw from areas treated with Milestone within the preceding 18-months or manure from animals feeding on hay treated with Milestone in compost.

• Do not use grasses treated with Milestone in the preceding 18-months for seed production.

Restrictions for All Uses Maximum Application Rate: Onalllabeledusesitesdonotbroadcastapplymorethan7flozperacreofMilestoneperyear.ThetotalamountofMilestoneappliedbroadcast,asare-treatment,and/orspottreatmentcannotexceed7flozperacreperyear.Spottreatmentsmaybeappliedatanequivalentbroadcastrateofupto0.22lbacidequivalent(14flozofMilestone)peracreperyear;however,notmorethan50%ofanacremaybetreatedatthatrate.Donotapplymorethanatotalof0.11lbacidequivalent(7floz)peracreofMilestoneperyearasaresultofbroadcast,spotorrepeatapplications. ObtainRequiredPermits:Consultwithappropriatestateorlocalwaterauthoritiesbeforeapplyingthisproductaroundpublicwaters.Stateorlocalpublicagenciesmayrequirepermits. •Avoiding Injury to Non-Target Plants: Do not aerially apply

Milestonewithin50feetofaborderdownwind(inthedirectionofwindmovement),orallowspraydrifttocomeincontactwith,anybroadleafcroporotherdesirablebroadleafplants,including,butnotlimitedto,alfalfa,cotton,drybeans,flowers,grapes,lettuce,potatoes,radishes,soybeans,sugarbeets,sunflowers,tobacco,tomatoesorotherbroadleaforvegetablecrop,fruittrees,ornamentalplants,orsoilwheresensitivecropsaregrowingorwillbeplanted.Avoidapplicationunderconditionsthatmayallowspraydriftbecauseverysmallquantitiesofspraymayseriouslyinjuresusceptiblecrops.Readandconsiderthe"PrecautionsforAvoidingSprayDriftandSprayDriftAdvisory"tohelpminimizethepotentialforspraydrift.

• Chemigation: Donotapplythisproductthroughanytypeofirrigation system.

• Do not contaminate water intended for irrigation or domestic purposes.Donottreatinsidebanksorbottomsofirrigationditches,eitherdryorcontainingwater,orotherchannelsthatcarrywaterthatmaybeusedforirrigationordomesticpurposes.

•Donotapplythisproducttolawns,turf,ornamentalplantings,urbanwalkways,driveways,tenniscourts,golfcourses,athleticfields,commercialsodoperations,orotherhigh-maintenance,fineturfgrassareas,orsimilarareas.

•TreesadjacenttoorinatreatedareacanoccasionallybeaffectedbyrootuptakeofMilestone.DonotapplyMilestonewithintherootzoneofdesirabletreesunlesssuchinjurycanbetolerated.Usespecialcautionnearroses,andleguminoustreessuchaslocusts,redbud,mimosa,andcaragana.

•Donottreatfrozensoilwhererunoffcoulddamagesensitiveplants. • Grazing and Haying Restrictions: Therearenorestrictionsongrazing

orgrasshayharvestfollowingapplicationofMilestoneatlabeledrates.Cuttinghaytoosoonaftersprayingweedswillreduceweedcontrol.Wait14daysafterherbicideapplicationtocutgrasshaytoallowherbicidetowork.DonottransfergrazinganimalsfromareastreatedwithMilestonetoareaswheresensitivebroadleafcropsoccurwithoutfirstallowing3daysofgrazingonanuntreatedpasture.Otherwise,urineandmanuremaycontainenoughaminopyralidtocauseinjurytosensitivebroadleafplants.

• Grazing Poisonous Plants: Herbicideapplicationmayincreasepalatabilityofcertainpoisonousplants.Donotgrazetreatedareasuntilpoisonousplantsaredryandnolongerpalatabletolivestock.

• Restrictions in Hay or Manure Use: ♦ Donotuseaminopyralid-treatedplantresidues,includinggrass,

woodplants,trees,hayorstrawfromareastreatedwithinthepreceeding18-months,incompost,mulchwoodchips,ormushroomspawn.

♦ Donotusemanurefromanimalsthathaveeatenaminopyralid-treatedforageorhaywithintheprevious3daysincompost,mulchormushroomspawn.Livestockmusthave3daysofeatingnon-aminopyralid-treatedmaterialsinordertocleartheirsystemofaminopyralid.  Donotuseaminopyralid-treatedplantsinareaswherecommerciallygrownmushroomsorsusceptiblebroadleafplantsmaybegrown.

♦ Donotspreadmanurefromanimalsthathaveconsumedaminopyralid-treatedforageorhaywithintheprevious3dayson landusedforgrowingsusceptiblebroadleafcrops.

♦ Manurefromanimalsthathaveconsumedaminopyralid-treatedforageorhaywithintheprevious3daysmayonlybeusedonareas usedforpasture,grassgrownforseed,wheatandcorn.

♦ Donotplantabroadleafcrop(includingsoybeans,sunflower,tobacco,vegetables,fieldbeans,peanuts,andpotatoes)infieldsorareastreatedwithaminopyralidormanurefromanimalsthathavegrazedforageoreatenhayharvestedfromaminopyralid-treatedareasuntilanadequatelysensitivefieldbioassayisconductedtodeterminethattheaminopyralidconcentrationinthesoilisatlevelthatisnotinjurioustothecroptobeplanted.
