Introduction to GIS Presentation "Introduce to GIS" brings the audience to the fascinating world of GIS - Geographic Information System. Content included in the presentation provides brief overview of fundamental definitions and concepts related to GIS. The student will be introduced to the basic theories how GIS works, what applications of GIS are or how spatial data defined and processed is. Selected examples presented in the presentation will help student to understand the idea of GIS. The presentation is directed to beginners who are not familiar with Geographic Information Systems.

Approximate duration: 60 min Piotr Czubek Spatial thinking is one of most common skill in human life. This ability has been accompanying me for a long time.

My interestings in Maps and Geography have started in teenage years when I was wandering in forest with map and participating in Orienteering competitions. Participation allowed me to observe the diversity of the world around us, that why I decided to

expand my knowledge in Geography.

I Graduteted from Gdańsk University of Technology (Bsc) and Warsaw University of Technology (Msc), where I met many fascinating people with similar passion for Earth Sciences. Thanks to them I can pass on the knowledge gained. Now, I am working in OPEGIEKA Sp. z o.o. where I am realizing tasks focused on processing photogrametric aerial data. Basing on my experiences, I can safely say that solving spatial problems allows us to better understand reality.

Using geospatial data for land planning policies In this tutorial we will see how, from earth observation data and a multi-agent simulation model, it is possible to manage mountainous areas and especially areas dedicated to agro-pastoral activities. In the case study that will be presented, satellite images are used to evaluate the potential of mountain areas in terms of quality and quantity of available forage. In this end, the multi-agent model SHIELD (Simulating Herd Impact on Encroachment in upLanD) developed on the Netlogo platform (https://ccl.northwestern.edu/netlogo/), will be presented. Based on prospective scenarios, simulations are run to evaluate the impact of different land management policies on land cover. Laure Vacquié | PhD in Geography of Environment (University of Toulouse 2 Jean Jaurès) and Fabspace Manager of Toulouse, France. My research focus on the analysis of the spatial and temporal dynamics (retrospective and prospective) of Land Use and Land Cover (LULC) and the modelling of Land Use and Land Cover Changes (LUCC). The identification of LUCC processes, either environmental, socio-economic or political, allows the development of spatially explicit scenarios in order to explore future mid or long term LUCC to better define adaptation management strategies. Moreover, accounting for spatial scales for prospective studies is crucial since determines the simulation models to be favored and the methods to build scenarios that are the most suitable.

Improving Health using EO Data The course shows how Earth Observation data can be exploited for health issues. This happens because EO data provide information about environmental parameters which, in turn, are affecting health. Interesting examples regard the monitoring of Land Surface Temperatures or of the concentration of ozone in the atmosphere. Some methodologies for the estimation of these quantities will be described.

Business Model Design The module goes through the introduction of a strategic tool, the Business Model Canvas (by A.Osterwalder), a strategic management and lean startup template for developing new or documenting existing business models. It is a visual chart with elements describing a company's or product's value proposition, infrastructure, customers, and finances. The four elements are: (1) a value proposition for customers; (2) resources, such as people, money, and technology; (3) the processes that the organization uses to convert inputs to finished products or services; and (4) the profit formula that dictates the margins, asset velocity, and scale required to achieve an attractive return. Interdependencies, represented here by bidirectional arrows, describe the integration required between individual elements of the business model. They require that every component of the model be congruent with every other component.

Roberto Giuliani is the Manager for the regional incubation programme of the European Space Agency (ESA BIC Lazio), in collaboration with Regione Lazio and the Italian Space Agency (ASI ). Graduated in Economics since 2009 he has been covering the role of Head of the ITech incubator, to support the creation of new companies and spin-offs, based on innovative technological applications and he has assisted the launch of more than 40 startups. He also has been involved in regular relationship with local universities and national research centres.

New and disruptive business models are emblematic of our generation and they are indispensable for dealing with every crisis with impetus. When markets are upsetting, those who can combine a rigorous method with a strong creativity can not only survive, but also thrive. All new businesses have to deal with the challenge of designing a sustainable business model. This is especially true for businesses with innovative products and/or services as a new generation of digital EO driven start-ups.

First position as PhD student in physics at the French Aerospace Laboratory (ONERA), Grégory worked during three years on the MICROSCOPE space mission to assess on orbit calibration methods for the embedded payload. The thesis has been awarded by an international price, delivered by the IAF. Second position at

the French Space Agency (CNES), Grégory worked successively on various scientific space projects to develop ground segment, mission operation systems, satellite equipment industrialization. During these years, Grégory developed very good knowledge of space engineering and collaborate with various experts from all over Europe and major countries involved in space activities. He has delivered numerous papers and conferences in international congresses, mainly about space project management. After a MBA devoted to innovation management, Grégory took a third position at Aerospace Valley cluster to support the development of small satellites market. This new position was an opportunity to develop new skills in line with the current move toward the New Space.

Company Structure During session called “Company Structure” we will try to address four topics:

1. When to start a company?

2. Variety of business enteties.

3. Types of organizational structures.

4. Team is everything! Because the difference in legal systems between project countries the session is aimed not to give straight answers – how to establish a company, and how to structuring it to be the most effective. I will try to open some questions and issues that are crucial for all companies in the beginning of their life. I hope you will enjoy the session and look forward to talk during live session..

Project Management The course will be a brief overview and give you some insights on project management. You’ll get to know the basic terminology and the basic concept. The main idea will be to use project management as a tool to get you started. You will also know the difference between project and process management, which is important for you. We’ll have to ignore some parts and just focus on the aspects that help you right away at the point you’re. So, it’s more a crash course and you have to dig in deeper afterwards to find the solution that fit’s best to you.
