HUMIDIFICATIONMaintaining ASHRAE standards & combating ESD

Humidity control in data centers isrequired to prevent ESD fromdamaging electrical equipment.

For existing data centers ASHRAErecommends a humidity level of 5.5°Cdew point to 60%RH and an allowablerange of between 20-80%RH (see fig 1).

Condair has a comprehensive range of humidifiers to help data centeroperators meet ASHRAE’s standards,including innovative low energyadiabatic systems that can utilise heatfrom the data halls to minimisehumidifier energy consumption.

A single Condair adiabatic humidifiercan deliver up to 630kW of evaporativecooling while operating on less than0.3kW of electricity. This technologyincreases the cooling capacity of a datacenter’s ventilation system and extendsthe use of free air cooling into periodswhen the outside air alone is too warmto meet the required internal conditions.

Condair humidifiers are used to deliver low energy evaporative coolingdirectly to incoming fresh air as well asbeing incorporated into in-directevaporative cooling systems. Thesereduce the temperature of incoming airwithout raising its humidity byhumidifying exhaust air andtransferring its resultant cool thermal

energy into the incoming air via a heatrecovery system.

These low energy cooling techniquescan significantly reduce or eveneliminate the need for mechanicalcooling in data centers with a resultantdrop in PUE.
