CIO Issues
If my business started anew, I would not even have needed my own data centers
With our IT legacy, I just cannot provide IT with enough agility… enter Shadow IT
I get less and less value for my ever-shrinking budget – and legacy DC IT is a key culprit
I want to provision more of my solutions from the cloud and aggressively optimize what is left
Where do I start, how would I go about it, and how would I get a good return while minimizing risk?

What CIOs Need to Ask
CIOs should ask themselves Are your current IT solutions really still fit for their purpose?
Does your IT offering to your business reflect its needs?
If you started today, would your IT would look anything like it now is?
Is your IT agile enough to accommodate rapidly increasing change?
We believe…
The role of Data Centers will definitely change…
IT provisioning will become a finely balanced act…
The model of IT outsourcing will change…
Low risk transformation is possible…
A partner will be essential…
There is huge value to be gained in embracing this change

Winning Combination for Bulletproofing SAP HANA
28
Bulletproofing SAP HANA®
SAP HANA is an In-Memory-DataBase (IMDB) that enables REAL-TIME business analytics (BigData Application)
Connecting patients to healthcare services needed immediately
Traffic analytics in Tokyo to optimize / improve current traffic conditions
Customized marketing for customers while they are in the store
Analyze & optimize customer energy usage via SmartMeter, then perform advanced segmentation with power grids to meet current demands
Financial institutions real-time volume stocks and share trading transactions
Question: SAP HANA does real time analytics, do I really need to protect it?

29
Protecting SAP HANA® Data
Replication provides Disaster Recovery (DR) for SAP HANA data
DR replication only addresses certain types of “failures” (site failures)
Replication does not protect you from corruptions & deletions (deletions & corruptions get replicated)
For complete data protection, you need DR AND Backup
SAP HANA Replication for DR
NetBackup for Backup

30
The Problem with Backups of SAP HANA®
SAP’s BACKINT API
SAP certified backups must use SAP’s BACKINT API
Traditional backups of SAP-HANA using the SAP BACKINT API are stream based backups
Stream based backups of SAP-HANA databases require large amounts of data to be moved in short amounts of time Translates to large backup servers capable of high I/O throughput (more costly)
Adds overhead to SAP-HANA nodes ( backup clients ) when sending data to backup server
Stream based backups are not a reasonable solution for point-in-time copies of an SAP-HANA
database (too much data to move in a short amount of time) Point-in-time copies are usually used to protect against potential corruption (i.e. every 2 hours )
SAP-HANA appliances are locked down hardware configurations, and hardware vendors generally aren’t willing to open up their appliance to 3rd party vendor software being added
This is necessary for testing & SAP-HANA certification

Fujitsu + NetBackup The unique industry best backup solution for SAP-HANA
Enables storage snapshot based backups of SAP-HANA
NetBackup has integration with Fujitsu SAP HANA storage to perform snapshot based backups of Fujitsu SAP HANA environments
Enables enterprise snapshot based backups of SAP-HANA
Application aware snapshots of SAP HANA are catalogued in SAP HANA Studio console
Storage snapshots of application aware snapshots of SAP HANA are catalogued in NetBackup’s catalogue
Requires special integration to enable the coordination of application aware snapshots and storage based snapshots
Fujitsu SAP HANA solutions currently do not have this level of integration with any other backup solution
NetBackup currently does not have this level of integration with any other SAP HANA appliance solution
Reference architectures of the Fujitsu SAP HANA with NetBackup have been setup in Fujitsu labs (Germany)
Solution has been verified, and corresponding implementation guides & technotes have been created to support implementations of the Fujitsu + NetBackup solution
