INTEGRATION ARCHITECTURE
FOR COMMUNICATIONS
K E Y B U S I N E S S B E N E F I T S
• Enables faster implementation with lower risk and reduced total cost of ownership
• Promotes rapid deployment, reusability, and configurability of business processes
• Saves significant time, effort, and cost in building and managing process integrations
• Delivers the value of a service-oriented architecture (SOA) at an accelerated pace
Oracle Application Integration Architecture (AIA) for Communications is
Oracle's approach to delivering end-to-end, integrated business processes,
applications, and technology for the telecom industry. Oracle AIA for
Communications enables communications service providers to quickly
respond to changing market dynamics by gaining timely access to more
accurate intelligence, by adapting business processes with ease, and by
delivering more compelling services faster.
Oracle AIA for Communications includes communications industry-specific
process integration packs, which leverage the AIA Foundation Pack
Extension for Communications to deliver pre-built integration for Oracle Siebel
Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Oracle Communications Billing
and Revenue Management (BRM), Oracle Communications Order and
Service Management (OSM), Oracle Product Hub for Communications
(PH4C), Oracle Customer Hub (OCH), and Oracle E-Business Suite.
Oracle AIA for Communications process integration packs (PIPs) are
extensible integrations and deployment accelerators that enable faster
implementation with lower risk and reduced total cost of ownership.
Oracle AIA for Communication in the context of the Oracle Communications Concept to Cash Solutions
Communication Service Providers (CSPs) face numerous challenges today: increased
competition, rapidly changing market demands, pressure to launch more offers faster,
control of operational expenses, and strengthening customer relationships. One of the
keys to successfully navigating these challenges is to view them holistically while
focusing locally on the highest impact areas.
To help CSPs with these challenges Oracle provides the most comprehensive Concept
to Cash solution offering for faster system implementation, enhanced customer
experience, fast time to cash, and operational cost savings.
Oracle AIA for Communications, with its extensible process integrations, is an essential
component of the Rapid Offer Design and Order Delivery (RODOD) solution and in
general of the Oracle Communications Concept to Cash Solutions, a set of solutions for
the Communications industry that besides RODOD also include the Cross-Channel
Customer Experience (C3E) solution to manage the purchasing and service experience

• Pre-built integrations of best in class
Oracle applications designed for extensibility and sustainability
• Based on a library of integration artifacts including reference process
models, business objects, and business services
• Compliant with standard business processes and data models for the communications industry
• Supported by Oracle to simplify
maintenance, benefit from release enhancements, and reduce TCO
across channels and the Rapid Service Design and Order delivery (RSDOD) solution
that extends in the OSS side and covers the service fulfillment part of the Concept to
Cash process.
The overall Oracle Concept to Cash solution offering is captured in the following
diagram.
Figure 1. Oracle Communications Concept to Cash Solutions Offering
The RODOD solution enables service providers to rapidly design and introduce offers,
to accurately capture and efficiently fulfill orders, and to support customer requests
across the order and service lifecycle. In order to enable its four key capabilities of offer
design, order capture, order delivery, and usage to cash to care, the RODOD solution
leverages several AIA for Communications components: the Product MDM Process
Integration Pack; the Communications Order to Cash CRM, BRM, and OSM Process
Integration Packs; and the Agent Assisted Billing Care Process Integration Pack. The
Oracle applications on which the core solution is built are Oracle Siebel CRM, Oracle
Communications OSM, Oracle Communications Billing and Revenue Management and
its Pricing Design Center, Oracle Communications Design Studio, and Oracle Product
Hub for Communications. Complementary applications include Oracle AIA for
Communications Foundation Pack and Oracle Web Commerce.

The RODOD solution was the very first solution to be ever certified by TM Forum
against Frameworx (eTOM) and has been recertified in 2013 to include offer design and
order capture flows that were extended to include Oracle Web Commerce. Compliance
results are available at
http://www.tmforum.org/OracleRapidOfferDesign/14898/home.html.
In 2014 RODOD and the concept to Cash Solutions were recognized by TM Forum as
the winner of the Solution Excellence Award.
