Demand for bandwidth and data services has grown rapidly. This is continuously driven by the explosion of traffic from cloud computing, data center connectivity, business services, wholesale exchanges, mobile backhaul traffic, video, IPTV, residential broadband etc. – all of which are demanding shorter time-to-market of new services, end to end service performance monitoring, a more cost-effective, scalable, and resilient infrastructure for data and voice services.

MRV’s Pro-Vision® is a carrier class robust, scalable simple service management platform for service providers and enterprises. It enables end-to-end service creation and deployment of cost-effective and reliable differentiated Carrier Ethernet services. With user-friendly intuitive graphical interface, service providers can rapidly create, deploy, monitor and maintain end-to-end Carrier Ethernet services.

Key Features

• Rapid Service Creation: Provides point-and-click user friendly graphical service creation and activation of Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF)based Carrier Ethernet services (E-NNI andI-NNI), Ethernet EVC, E-LINE, E-LAN, E-VLINE, E-VLAN, service extension, bandwidth profile management, tag management, class-of-service, IEEE802.3ah EFM, per-service logical maps, loopback and graphical services OAM.

• Advanced Graphical Reporting: Provides real-time intuitive service visualization graphics tools for OAM reporting. Per service accounting and performance monitoring, configurable data collection and thresholds, performance results and history, detailed RFC 2544 service turn up services, data collection and alarm thresholds.

• Powerful Performance Monitoring: Ensure customer centric performance levels are met enables reconciliation of Service Level Agreement (SLAs) as well as providing real-time end-to-end performance monitoring, availability of service, diagnosing and graphically reporting on various service and network performance metrics such as fault status, historical counters and resource usage monitoring, capacity planning, link utilization, trend analysis, and problem resolution. It provides standards based per service accounting and GUI based performance monitoring using ITU Y1731 and MEF RFC 2544 test and reporting OAM results in both real-time and historical in a graph viewer. Configurable data collection and thresholds, periodic data collection with on demand reports, alarm suppression, per service loopback and schedule performance-monitoring test.

• Robust Fault Management:In order to minimize network downtime, Pro-Vision provides effective tools for detecting, isolating and resolving faults. It includes per-service and end-to-end fault detection. Monitoring link status/operation remote fault indication and loopback control via IEEE 802.3ah EFM (Ethernet in the First Mile). It provides flexible periodic data collection and on demand reporting. It offers comprehensive event/alarm parsers/filtering, including flexible, alarm suppression and propagation with intelligent correlation.

• Automatic Zero-touch remote turn up process:Minimize technician on-site operations and simplifies device installation and turn-up. It allows auto download of up-to-date device software and firmware versions, device configurations and database synchronization.

• Open Northbound OSS integration: As an integral part of the Service Providers’ Operations Systems Support (OSS), Pro-Vision supports an open Northbound interface for interconnection to 3rd party OSS Systems. Northbound interconnection is achieved via SNMP, CORBA and SOAP/XML protocols enabling the OSS systems to retrieve large volumes of valuable information such as alarms, performance-monitoring results, devices inventory data etc.

• Carrier Class Scalability and Availability: Pro-Vision supports a future-proof scalable client-server architecture. Distributed, multi-tier architecture including redundant front-end servers, and polling devices support large-scale installations with 1000+ devices and users. A redundancy option is available for Pro-Vision which includes database replication, virtual IP interface, load balancing further enhancing uptime and reliability over a number of failure scenarios including hardware and operating systems failures. In addition, it supports the Link protection, Link reflection and Link trace capabilities.

• Remote Site Maintenance: Service discovery, inventory, upgrades, configuration changes, addition of new customers and services, along with software upgrades all add a high level of maintenance overhead to keep networks at peak availability and performance. Pro-Vision provides the ability to upgrade, upload/download device configuration and upgrade software remotely and on a scheduled manner across multiple devices simultaneously. In addition, it supports automatic zero-touch device turn-up process, per-service loopback, link trace and region Identification. It also supports synchronizing the device configuration to the Pro-Vision database validating and auto downloading of the preferred device software/firmware. In addition it supports quick service discovery, determine inventory and flexible export options to centralized inventory management.

Key Benefits

• Enables differentiated Carrier Ethernet services and generate new revenues with simplified end-to-end service provisioning.

• Does not require expensive technical experts to operate the system. Service creation becomes simple with intuitive graphical user interface that automates, expedites and eliminates errors from the service provisioning process.

• Reduces the management and operational costs through remote OA&M and automated service provisioning replaces complex time-consuming and error-prone manual provisioning.

• Makes it easy to manage numerous network elements in the network from the common network management system via open north bound interfaces to the 3rd party OSS and south bound interfaces to the network devices.

• Supports large scale deployment with Carrier class scalable open platform with full FCAPS (Fault Configuration, Authentication and Performance) features.

• Allows for commitment of customer SLA. Verification of SLA can be realized via enhanced Performance Monitoring visual graphical reports, reduce network downtime, network resource bandwidth utilization.

• Confirms service levels with highly granular statistics that includes resource, traffic, and end-to-end service statistics. Data collection with distributed polling architecture enables performance trend & analysis of the entire network or sub- networks through a graphical or table form.

• Provides ongoing network resource usage, link utilization of bandwidth, and trend analysis to ensure that new services can be supported without performance impact.

• Minimizes network downtime ensuring normal network operation by proactive troubleshooting, recording and maintaining network configuration and updates.

• Reduces customer churn by quickly identifying and correcting problems using proactive Fault Management, alarms and event life cycle monitoring of frame loss, availability, per-service loopbacks and other Standard-based OAM utilities from ITU Y.1731, RFC2544 and IEEE802.1ag standards.

• Optimizes network performance supporting root cause analysis of events by correlating alarms and enabling drill down to malfunctioning sub systems.

• Enables disaster recovery and high availability as a result of no-point-of-failure architecture.

• Minimizes expenses resulting from installation expansion due to inherent support for distributed servers.
