Renishaw’s range of OEM Industrial Laser Modules (ILM) utilise
pulsed time-of-flight technology to provide users with contactless
measurements to passive targets.
This is achieved through using an invisible and eye-safe laser source
and low-level detector mounted within a robust housing.
The ILM-R (range) variant is designed specifically to measure the
distance between the laser module and a passive target.
The key difference between the ILM-R and the other laser module
variants is the output rate of 9 Hz, being the average of 20 individual
measurements, providing a stable measurement.
Features of Renishaw’s ILM-R laser modules include:
• Range of 0.5 to 1200 m to a passive target (depending on
variant)
• Accuracy of 10 cm**
• Repeatability of 8 cm**
• Laser safety to Class 1 or Class 1M
• Data rate – output of up to 9 Hz
• Environmental protection to IP67
• RS232 protocol (RS422 available by special request)

• ILM-35-R = 0.5 m to 35 m
• ILM-150-R = 0.5 m to 150 m
• ILM-500-R = 1.0 m to 500 m
• ILM-1200-R = 10 m to 1200 m
Maximum distances are quoted to passive targets*.
Minimum distances are quoted to the point at which an
object can first be detected.

Electrical connections
• FISCHER-DBEE-102A054-130 is located on the rear of the
ILM unit
• A standard 2 m adaptor cable is available with each unit,
which converts the FISCHER connector to a 9-way D-type
and two flying leads for power
The pin outs for these connectors are described within the table
opposite.
