Rules for Post-Graduate Teacher/lVl. Phiyph. D Guide

1) General Rules:a) Applicant has to submit hislher online application form.b) Hard copies of the application form should be sent to the university along with the

necessary documents duly signed by the Principal of the college/Flead ofUniversity Department/Director of the Institute.

c) Applicant should be a full-time permanent approved teacher working in theuniversity Depaftment/Affiliated College/Recognized Institute or ResearchScientist in recognized Research Institute of Savitribai Phule Pune University.

d) Applicant must be a regular faculty (not adjunct faculty) working in UniversityDepartment/Afffiliated College/Recognized Institute/Recognized ResearchInstitute.

2) Rules for Recognition as Post-Graduate Teacher:a) Five years approved teaching experience at degree level.b) If a teacher is directly appointed as a Post-graduate teacher and has received

permanent approval from the university need not apply for P.G recognition.c) A teacher once recognized as a Post-graduate teacher (PG) need not apply for

renewal/continuation of recognition unless helshe changes the affiliated college /recognized research institute from where he/she had applied for P.G. recognition.

3) M.PhiyPh.D.Research Guideship will be governed by the University Grantscommission,New Delhi, Regulations, 2016, (Minimum Standards andProcedure for Award of M.Phil/Ph.D.Degree), Ref.No .278,The Gazette ofIndia, dated 5th July, 2016)

4) Rules for Recognition as an M. Phil research guide (By Paper/By Research):a) M. Phil by Paper:

i) Applicant must be a Ph. D in the subject to which he/she applies forrecognition.

ii) Any regular Professor of the University/Institution Deemed to be a UniversityUniversity/ College with at least five research publications in referred iournalsand any regular Associate/Assistant Professor of the University/institutiondeemed to be a university/college with a Ph. D. degree and at least two researchpublications in refereed joumals may be recognized as Research Supervisor.

Provided that in areas/disciplines where there is no or only a limited number ofrefereed journals, the Institution may relax the above condition for recognitionof a'person as Research Guide with reasons recorded in writing.

b) M.Phil by Research:

i) Applicant must be a Ph.D. in the subject to which he/she applies forrecognition.

ii) Two years after awarding Ph. D degree with five years teaching/research

experience out of which minimum two years at P.G. level.

iii) Any regular Professor of the University/Institution Deemed to be a

University/College with at least five research publications in referredjournals and any regular AssociateiAssistant Professor of the

Universityiinstitution deemed to be a university/college with a Ph. D.

degree and at least two research publications in refereed journals may be

recognized as Research Supervisor.

Provided that in areasidisciplines where there is no or only a limited number

of refereed journals, the Institution may relax the above condition forrecognition of a person as Research Guide with reasons recorded in writing.

5) Rules for Recognition as Ph. D research guide for all faculties:a) Three years after awarding Ph.D. degree with minimum 10 years

teaching/research experience out of which minimum two years at P.G.level.

ORApplicant having Ph.D. degree at the time of appointment should have 5 years

teaching/research experience out of which minimum two years at P.G. level.

6) Conditions Governing the M. Phil/Ph. D. Research Guideship:

i) If an applicant is awarded recognition as a Research Guide the

. recognization letter for the guideship will be issued upto his/her

attaining the age of 60 years or till he/she is a regular faculty in the

University Department /Afffiliated College/Recognized Institute/Recognized Research Institute from which he/she had made an

application for the guideshiP.

ii) M. Phil Guideship is co-terminus with the Ph. D. guideship.

iii) Applicant shall not be eligible for making fresh application for post

graduate teacherAvl.Phil guide (by papers/research) / Ph.D.guide, ifhe/she has attained the age of 60 years at the time of making application.

iv) It is essential to take a co-guide (should be approved Research Guide ofSavitribai Phule Pune University)in case of those M.Phil/Ph.D. Research

Guides; whose length of service as a 'Regular Faculty' is not more than

two years.

v) No fresh M.PhillPh.D 'Research Students' should be registered withM.Phil/Ph.D. Research Guides whose length of service as a 'Regular

Faculty' is not more than two years.
