Internet Safety
To coincide with Safer Internet Day, students are discussing issues around Grooming during their Tutor Time. As part of this, students have watched videos on the topic. Years 7-9 have watched ‘Matt though he knew’ and students in Years 10-13 have watched the harder hitting ‘Kayleigh’s Story’. The videos can be viewed by parents using the links below.
Matt thought he knew
Kayleigh’s Story Please find some time to discuss your son/daughter’s internet use and the potential dangers this may bring. Below you will find useful websites which contain information and advice. For any further information or to discuss any concerns, please contact Mr D Currie (Designated Safeguarding Lead) at school. www.childline.org.uk/info-advice/bullying-abuse-safety/online-mobile-safety/online-grooming www.nspcc.org.uk/preventing-abuse/child-abuse-and-neglect/grooming/ We would like to make you aware that the Parents’ Online Safety Evening has been postponed a week and will now take place on Wednesday 1 March.
Year 11 Mock Exam Results
From today you will be able to view your Year 11 son/daughter’s mock exam results in OPT. Login in the usual way and follow the link. You will be able to discuss these results with your son/daughter’s teachers at the Parents’ Evening on Thursday 9 March.
Healthy Relationships
Healthy relationships are all about respecting each other. You should feel loved, safe and free to be yourself. Relationships can be confusing and it can be difficult to understand what is and isn’t normal behaviour.
Assemblies over the past fortnight have covered issues around healthy relationships, relationship abuse and consent. The website below provides parents and young people with further information on the topic. www.disrespectnobody.co.uk/
Mental Health
Mental health is something we all have, and it’s something that changes at different times in our lives. Some people think of their mental health as ‘emotional health’ or ‘wellbeing’. Click here to read information that has been produced for young people on the subject of Mental Health, which you may find useful.
Anxiety
We all experience occasional feelings of anxiety, worry and fear. These can be normal responses to certain situations. For example, you might worry about an upcoming lesson in school or an interview for a job. Click here to view a factsheet which provides more information on anxiety disorders, how they are diagnosed, possible causes and treatments.
