Welcome Back
Welcome to the new 2017-2018 academic year. We hope all students and parents had a pleasant summer break. We would also like to welcome our new Year 7 and Year 12 students, and we look forward to getting to know them during their time at
Woodkirk Academy.
We are looking forward to celebrating the progress and achievements of students over the year via this newsletter and events in school.
The Autumn newsletter from the Principal will be distributed shortly.

School Photographs The school photographer is visiting the school on Thursday 21 September for Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12. Both individual and class group photographs are taken and the photography company then offers various packages for purchase, which are explained in the packs. School policy is to have photographs taken of all students with parental consent; parents can then choose whether or not they wish to order the photographs.
Food Technology All ingredients and equipment brought in to school for Food Technology must be collected and taken home on the same day. If this is not possible the student must collect on the following day at 3pm or speak to their teacher. The fridges and classrooms are cleared and cleaned every Friday, if there are items left they will be thrown away. Unfortunately there is far too much left behind to keep it indefinitely, and the food is unsafe for consumption. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Extra-curricular Activities
All extra-curricular activities start next week in the Music Department. Please encourage any students that have previously been involved to attend as most groups will be performing at Open Evening. New members are also invited to attend. Year 7 and 8 may use these activities as part of their ELP homework project. Music Enrolment Forms
A reminder that all students continuing or starting instrumental lessons must have returned their new enrolment form; many thanks to those that have already done this. Year 7 students have been issued theirs this week. If you have not received one please let me know or ask your child to see me in the Music Department. I am trying to send all forms off to Art Forms by the end of next week so that they can send invoices out. Therefore, any students who have not returned a form by the end of next week will not be allowed to take part in lessons this term. Thank you for your co-operation and for more information, please email me on [email protected]
