from KEA is coming to MCHS cafeteria on December 3rd at 6:30 to speak with students/parents about completing the FAFSA.

The MCHS Library Media Center was awarded a Kentucky Bluegrass Award book grant. We'll be receiving two com-

plete sets of this year's Kentucky Bluegrass Award nominees. The complete list of 2013 nominees can be found on Destiny.

school, and our students reach their full potential!

Ms. Dye's Small Animal class is hosting a char-

Chapman University, in California to get my teaching cre-dential in Math and a Master's degree in Education. I

The Weekly Word – October 26, 2012

Test Scores! – Finally, on November 2nd we will be able to share our testing success with the public. A student celebration has been planned for Friday. Letters will be mailed to each student household. Mississippi Educators’ Visit – Thank you to those who helped host our visitors from Mississippi this week. The group had the op-portunity to visit Montgomery County Intermediate School, Camargo Elementary School, and Montgomery County High School. Though Monroe County School District is a high-performing Mississippi district, they learned of our processes and success and wanted to see our outstanding staff and students in action to learn best practices for continuous improvement. They were impressed with our school district. Celebrating Success…In Addition to Great News About Our Test Scores – (1) Approximately 12 Office of Systems Technology stu-dents are working toward Internet and Computing Core (IC3) Global Standard 3 certification. The Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC³) provides students and job-seekers with the foundation of knowledge they need to succeed in environments that require the use of computers and the Internet. (2) Sixteen Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) members stayed after school to help clean the High School grounds. FBLA usually does Adopt-a-Highway but this year the group decided to clean up their own schools grounds. Overall this was a very successful day, resulting in 7 trash bags full of garbage picked up at the end. Our Employees Did What? – Among the bizarre and notable things our employees have done that were shared this week: MCHS Assistant Principal Rocky Franz kissed a pig, while wearing a pink shirt (Mr. Franz, not the pig), and two teachers, Melanie Kelly of Camargo and Holly Smallwood of Mapleton, measured Nerlens Noel’s hair. Student Attendance – Mapleton Elementary had the highest one-day attendance for the week with 96.73%, but Mt. Sterling Elementary barely edged Camargo Elementary out (by .03%) for the weekly title. Dates –

Oct. 30 - Board of Education meeting, 6:30 p.m., Montgomery County Intermediate School Oct. 31 – Trick or Treat – Halloween Observances

Nov. 2 – Testing Data Release and Celebration Nov. 6 – No School, Election Day Nov. 8 – MCHS ROTC Veterans’ Day Program, 1:45 p.m. Nov. 8 – MSE SBDM Council Meeting, 5:00 p.m. Nov. 9 – Camargo Veterans’ Day program, 10 a.m. Nov. 9 – MSE Fall Festival, 5 p.m. Nov. 12 – MSE Veterans’ Day program, 8:30 a.m. Nov. 15 – Camargo PTO Meeting, 5:30 p.m. Nov. 21 – 23 – No School, Thanksgiving Break
