Victorian State Budget:

I am very pleased to inform you that in the most recent State budget, funds have been allocated to Eltham High School for the planning stage of our School/Community Sport Precinct.

Eltham High School is currently engaged in a range of discussions and conversations with our Local State Member Vicki Ward, the Shire of Nillumbik and a range of sporting organisations in planning for the development of a Master Plan aimed at the development of the sporting facilities at our school for both school and community use. I have to say that I am really overwhelmed with the good will that has come our way from our local sporting organisations, the Shire and local schools. I wish to thank the Principal and School Council President of St Helena Secondary College who continue to provide valuable advice on this strategy based on their own previous experience of having taken this agenda forward within their own community. The development of the sporting facilities at Eltham High School aims to meet the needs of a range of young people in the Nillumbik areas irrespective of whether they attend our school or not. The school will benefit from such a development during school hours and the community will do the same after school hours.

The planning group is at the stage of appointing a Consultant to undertake all of the consultation work and to move the agenda towards the development of the Master Plan. The funding allocated to us in this year’s State Budget will be put to good use to achieve exactly this.

I wish to acknowledge the great work, commitment and leadership of our School Council President, Mrs Nicki Hauser, who chairs these meeting. I will keep you informed as the project moves further ahead.

Living Spirit Fellowship:

Applications are called from Year 10, 11 and 12 students to participate in the ‘Living Spirit’ Fellowship.

The Greensborough RSL Sub-Branch established the Living Spirit Fellowship in 2010 because it wanted to nurture younger generations to understand the sacrifices made by many men and women of the Australian Defence Forces in ensuring the great freedom we enjoy today is never forgotten. The Fellowship provides fort eh successful applicant and his/her guardian to join an escorted group for an 8 to 10 day tour of Thailand and Myanmar which includes the ANZAC Dawn Service at Hellfire Pass on 25 April 2017. Students are required to make a submission in accordance with the Application Form that includes a Questionnaire section.

Further Information can be obtained from Mr Robertson, Humanities Key Learning Area Co-ordinator or from Mr Laurence, Student Growth & Leadership Leader.

Eltham High School Working Bee:

A big thank you to everyone who attended last Sunday’s Working Bee. A great deal was achieved with many hands at work. I once again commend the work of the Grounds Committee and thank John Coates for his organisation and attendance on the day (even though it was his birthday). I look forward to the next one later on this term.

new eltham High Careers website

At eltham High school Pathways and transition is an important part of your child’s educational experience.

As such i would like to announce the creation of an eltham High school web based career support site.

it can be accessed at www.elthamhighcareers.com with the majority of menu links open access. However, there is also a dedicated student area where your child can create an account and take advantage of various activities and production tasks. in there you will find interest and occupations quizzes, a resume format, digital portfolio access and many more useful tools. when your child creates their account have them use their school email address and a password will be generated for them.

the site has information for all year levels with the full functionality of the site becoming more appropriate as students move into year 9. the student account remains accessible across the life of your child’s high school life.

i would encourage you to have a look at the site and if there are any questions regarding its use please feel free to conatct me on 9430 5113 or at [email protected]
