Thumbs Up To Sarah Moore and Nikita Pratt for becoming our newest members of School Council.

Congratulations ladies and it’s great to have you on board.

FOR SALE In a few weeks, there will be ducklings for sale. If you are interested please

call Donna on 0430 928 730.

Student Medication If you completed a Medication Request Form last year for your child/ren and wish to continue having medication kept at school the Department of Education requires you to complete a new Medication Request Form. The Medication Request Form is available at the Office. Medication cannot be given to students without this form being completed. We are unable to give students medication that is past its expiry date so please come into the office and check if the medication we hold for your child is still within its expiry date. Medication to treat asthma or anaphylaxis does not need to be accompanied by a Medication Request Form as it is covered by a student’s Asthma Care Plan or Action Plan for Anaphylaxis.

2018 Foundation Enrolments With the 2017 Preps settling in, it is time to start planning our 2018 intake!

If you have a pre-school child who will begin Foundation at Cardinia Primary School in

2018, could you please visit the office as soon as possible to ensure we have your

child’s details?

Please do not assume we know your child will be attending our school. With so many

new families, it is a huge job to keep track of all possible future Foundation students.

You will need to provide the office with your current email address as well as your

Pre-school child’s full name, date of birth and the name of the kindergarten she/he

currently attends.

A 2018 enrolment form will then be given to you and these are due back fully

completed by the end of Term 1. Rest assured that all siblings of current students will

be given a place for Foundation, 2018. However, we do need your details to confirm

your child’s place.

Please see Allan or Jodie if you have any questions regarding the 2018 Prep Enrolment

procedure.

School Choir Performance The Cardinia Primary School Choir has been asked to perform at the Bayles Music Festival which is being held this Saturday, 4th March. Mrs Young has sent a note home to all parents of choir members. Please return these to the office if you have not already done so. Members will need to be at Bayles by 2:40pm and ready to perform at 2:55pm.

Emergency Evacuation Drill The school will be undertaking an Emergency Evacuation Drill on Tuesday, 14th March. This is an important component of our Emergency Management Plan. The drill is designed to ensure staff and students are aware of the evacuation procedures in our Emergency Evacuation Plan, as well as test the effectiveness of the plan.

Car Parking! When parking on Cardinia Road, on the School side of the road, please park as close to the

bollards and barriers as possible. Children and parents need to use the pathway allocated

between the fence and bollards to enter the school safely.

Cardinia Road and the front of the Hall car park are available for parents to park and collect

students. When using the Hall Car Park please observe the ‘No Parking’ signs close to the

Hall. This area must remain clear to allow access to the Hall as needed. There are also

limited spaces in the Church car park located off Dalmore Road. Please do not park on the

nature strip or block driveways in this area. There is also no parking in front of the School

Crossing when the flags are showing.

It is School policy that all students need to be collected by an adult at the end of the day.

This avoids accidents from occurring in these congested times. Please also be aware of your

surroundings when parking your vehicle. If you are blocking other cars or the flow of traffic it

makes it very difficult for other parents to access parking spaces. Cardinia Shire has

allocated 4 car spaces in the Hall Car Park area which are reserved for vehicles displaying a

Disability Permit ONLY. Please ensure your vehicle has the correct permit when using these

spaces. Your assistance, patience and understanding in this matter would be greatly

appreciated.

Yakkerboo Parade - Sunday, 23rd April 2017. This year’s Yakkerboo theme is Disney and Miss VP has chosen to do a Peter Pan based

float. A meeting will be held next Wednesday, 8th March in the 1VP classroom at 3:50pm.

Please come by and share any thoughts and ideas.

YOU CAN DO IT!

At Cardinia Primary School, we are incorporating the You Can Do It!

Education program into our whole school well-being rotations in 2017.

YCDI is a school wide program that focuses on fostering the social and

emotional development of children and assisting them to develop to

their full potential. Within the program there is a common theme of

developing RESILIENCE and the program also focuses on the five key

foundations of CONFIDENCE, PERSISTENCE, ORGANISATION, GETTING

ALONG and EMOTIONAL RESILIENCE.

This term our first focus is Getting Along! Getting Along means...working

well with classmates, solving conflicts peacefully, being respectful,

playing by the rules, challenging our fears and handling our emotions.

As part of our rotations we are also incorporating meditation and yoga

sessions, to promote well-being. These rotations will start on the 6th of

March and we would like to encourage parents to talk to your

child/children about their lessons, ask them questions about what they

have learnt during these sessions.
