The High Commissioner assumes charge of the
Office
The High Commissioner designate, Mohammad
Nafees Zakaria, joined Mission on 27th
November, 2017. He presented copies of his
credentials to Dato’ Sri Asri Muda, the Malaysian
Chief of Protocol. The CP congratulated and
welcomed the High Commissioner.
Pakistan High Commission celebrates Milad-un-
Nabi S.A.W on 13th December, 2017
A solemn ceremony was organised on 13th
December 2018, to celebrate the birth
anniversary of our beloved Prophet Muhammad
S.A.W.
Eminent Islamic scholars particularly Professor Dr.
Adil Afridi and members of youth community
and students shared their knowledge of various
facets of the Seerat of the Holy Prophet (SAW).
Naats and Darood were also recited by the
participants.
Port Call by Pakistan Navy Ship “Saif” to Lumut
Naval Base
Pakistan Navy Ship “Saif” paid a port call on Lumut Port
Malaysia on 23 December, 2017. The High
Commissioner and senior ranking officers of Malaysian
Royal Navy received the ship. A dinner reception was
hosted by the High Commissioner on board on 23
December. Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Roslan was
the Chief Guest. The reception was attended by the
Ambassadors of friendly countries, representatives of the
diplomatic corps, officers from Malaysian Navy,
prominent members of Pakistani community and media
people.
Jinnah Competition organised by the Mission
To educate our youth about our national
leaders particularly founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-
Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Mission organised
Jinnah Competition to commemorate 142nd
Birth
Anniversary. Pakistani students in Malaysia, officers
and officials’ children participated in the
essay/poetry/portrait competition. The contestants
and winners in each category received certificates
and awards.
Putrajaya International Security Dialogue on
Counter-Terrorism
The High Commissioner represented Pakistan in
Putrajaya International Security Dialogue held on
5-6 January, 2018. The dialogue was organised
by Malaysian Home Ministry in collaboration
with the World Muslim League. The dialogue
carried the theme ‘Wisdom and Moderation in
Countering Terrorism’.
Quaid’s Birthday Celebrated
To commemorate 142nd
Birth Anniversary of
Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah Mission
organised a Community event on 13th January
2018, which was attended by Pakistani
community members, students, scholars, locals
and media persons.
The scholars and students who spoke on the
occasion highlighted the different aspects of
Quaid’s life and philosophy through their
speeches. Young students also sung in praise of
the great leader and performed on milli songs.

Just International Dr. Chandra Muzaffar, Prof.
Abdullah Ahsan from Islamic International
University Kuala Lumpur, Prof. Dr Nur Haniza
Sarmin, Director University Technology Malaysia
(UTM), Johor Bahru Campus and Ali Salman
from Malaysian think-tank IDEAS joined the High
Commissioner to shed light on various aspects of
the Quaid’s life and personality.
High Commissioner attends book launch on Sikh
heritage in Pakistan
High Commissioner attended the launch
ceremony of “The Lost Legacy: Sikh Heritage of
Pakistan” by Singapore based Sikh author Mr.
Amardeep Singh. The ceremony was organised in
a local university and was attended by over 150
participants, mostly Malaysian Sikhs. Speaking at
the occasion, the High Commissioner proudly
presented Pakistan as a host to over 300 sacred
places of Sikh religion. He also highlighted the
efforts of the Evacuee Trust Property Board to
renovate, expand and preserve the Gurdwaras in
Pakistan including Panja Sahib and Gurdwara
Guru Nanak in Nankana Sahib.
He informed the audience about
reverence with which Sikh Yatris are received in
Pakistan and the facilities provided by the
Government of Pakistan. Mr. Amardeep Singh
praised the Government and people of Pakistan
for their respect and hospitality during his
journey to the remotest areas of Pakistan in his
quest to document the Sikh Legacy. The
participants appreciated the short documentary
about Sikh heritage and preservation activities by
Pakistan played by the High Commissioner.
Presence of the High Commissioner in the
ceremony was picked up and appreciated by the
print and electronic media especially Asia
Samachar online paper.
Kashmir Solidarity Day Observed
To express solidarity with the people of
occupied Jammu & Kashmir in their legitimate
struggle for right of self-determination as
enshrined in the relevant UN Security Council
Resolutions, the Mission held an academic
activity to create awareness and discuss Kashmir
dispute and its implications. The activity was
attended by the ambassadors and scholars from
friendly countries, academia, members of
Malaysian NGOs and think-tanks, media people
and members of Pakistani community. Mr. Fazli
Ghafoor, Member Parliament from KPK, was
also present on the occasion.
Ms. Shaista Safi, Kashmir Youth leader and
women’s representative from Indian Occupied
Kashmir (IOK) apprised the participants about
grave human rights situation in the occupied
valley and genocide being committed by Indian
occupation forces. She highlighted the
economical, social and religious persecution of
innocent Kashmiris at the hands of brutal Indian
forces. She also recounted the phenomenon of
“Half Widows” and dishonoring of Muslim
women IOK.
Mr. Hassan Jameel, a PhD Scholar
lamented the hypocrisy of the administration of
the social media networks ilk of Face book,
Twitter, Instagram and Whatsapp etc. who have
blocked the accounts of many users who posted
images validating Indian atrocities in Kashmir
particularly the use of pellet guns.
The High Commissioner shared the video
message of Hurriyat leader conveying the ground
situation in IOK and their appreciation of the
unflinching support by the Government and
People of Pakistan. Taking reference from the
books of different historians he presented the
genesis of the dispute. The venue was themed
Pelletized Kashmir displaying pictures of those
blinded and killed by the pellet guns used by
India against unarmed protesters.
MALPAK welcomes the High Commissioner
Malaysia-Pakistan Business Council
(MALPAK) hosted a welcome dinner for the
High Commissioner of Pakistan. It was attended
by the notable of Pakistani business community
and like-minded businessmen from Malaysia. In
his remarks, the High Commissioner elaborated
the business friendly policies of Pakistan,
opportunities in different sectors of economy
and relaxed visa regime for Malaysian investors
and businessmen.
