Dear Mr. Chairman:

I would like to announce and confirm my desire and intention to submit my name as a

candidate for the position of Vice President, Education, for the Board of Directors of the

American Society of Plumbing Engineers.

I understand the commitment that this entails, and that it will sometimes require some

time to be spent away from home as well as the office, and that I will need to contribute

personal and professional time to this position. I have been fortunate to have generous

support from my employer, and also from my family.

I have been a member of ASPE since 1977, and I have served 4 years on the Socity

Board of Directors, and several years on the Chicago Chapter Board, as well as the Board

of Governors and several committees, locally and nationally.

Please review my application documents and please let me know if there is anything else

that you would like me to submit to you.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to following the fine example

that you have set for all of us.

Sincerely,

I have been involved with ASPE for some time. I originally joined in 1977. I have serves as VPL on the Society Board for 4 years. I feel that I am leaving the VPL position in a better place than when I started. Much of this is due to the efforts of others, and not myself, but I was here as it happened. I think that I was a catalyst for change and I hope that others feel the same way about my tenure. I feel that it is time to give someone else the opportunity to fill this position, while I see what I can with the position of VPE. I believe that ASPE's Educational efforts have really grown in the past several years. I think that I can help to take that to an even higher level.

I have 4 years of experience on the Society Board, as well as my experience at the Chapter level and with various committees. I have written many articles for magazines and newsletters, in an attempt to help to educate our members, and I have made several contributions to the ASPE PEDH series. I also teach at some prestigious universities, serving as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Illinois Institute of Technology, and as an instructor for UCLS Extension University. I have been at IIT for about 6 years, and at UCLA for 1 year. I teach 3 Plumbing and Fire Protection courses at IIT, and I teach High Rise Plumbing Design at UCLA. I have also taught Plumbing classes for the Chicago Chapter. I have done seminars for several organizations including ASPE, ASPE Chicago, Illinois Plumbing Inspectors Association, ICC, Green Center on Technology, and for Clean Edison. One of the highlights for me is the current series for the ASPE/IAPMO Green Plumbing Designer Certificate Program. I personally developed almost all of the content for my classes. I am still learning myself, but I have made a contribution to the education of hundreds of individuals. VPE sounds like a logical extension of these activities. If elected, I will continue to fight for what I think is right, and I will do whatever I can to improve membership benefits.

You want to vote for me because I am you. We are one. I am here for you and I will fight for your benefit in all that we do as the ASPE Board of Directors. Vice President, Legislative has come a long way over the past 4 years, and again, not necessarily because of what I did, but what all of the VPL's and other volunteers have done. Now I feel that I need to bring my approach to the VPE position. I will use the examples set by my predecessors as a guide to my efforts to improve our educational benefits t our members. My passion is probably my number one asset. I am confident that there is no other candidate that can oput the same level of compassion into this position.
