Media Researcher, self‐employed contracting to iSentia Limited February 2013 to present
Analysing media items to enable Media Analyst to produce a customised report for clients.
Monthly Media report for Australia Post, 2013 — Australia Post is a government business enterprise which is
facing issues such as falling letter volumes and increasing costs for rural delivery. iSentia produces a monthly
report for Australia Post to enable them to respond to issues and consider strategy. Mr Morris supports
iSentia’s media analyst by analysing media items and providing supporting notes. The notes consist of
identifying issues and possible future issues for Australia Post, comparative analysis of Australia Post’s
performance in the media and underlying themes drawn from public.
Monthly Media report for Essential Energy (NSW), 2014 — Essential Energy is a state owned enterprise
responsible for maintaining, building and operating Australia’s largest energy network. iSentia produces a
monthly report for Essential Energy identifying trends and issues that arise in the media. Mr Morris analyses
media items and provides supporting notes to assist iSentia’s Media Analyst in producing this report.
Running a sole trader business, 2013 — In 2013 iSentia offered its Media Research team the opportunity to work as private contractors. Mr Morris accepted this offer and has since operated as a sole trader. He has created efficiencies in his processes by minimising time spent on administration. He has also improved his work flow by using two monitors and measuring and analysing time spent on each project. While working as a sole trader Mr Morris has been studying towards a Masters of Professional Accounting. He has had to balance the demands of his business with achieving high grades at university.

Worked on drafting a strategic assessment for the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment.
In2excellence is a New Zealand based consulting firm. Mr Morris produced the organisational overview for a
planned Strategic Assessment that did not eventuate. The organisation overview required Mr Morris to have a
solid understanding of the history of building industry compliance in NZ and MBIE’s statement of intent for
Building and Housing.

Summarising National Business Review content for clients. This role required Mr Morris to have a sound understanding of business issues, a high degree of accuracy and strong comprehension under a time constraint. Due to a copyright issue to distribute NBR articles to clients it iSentia needed to rewrite each article in the NBR without plagiarizing. Mr Morris excelled at this task and helped train new members who joined the team. Mr Morris worked at this role while he was also working as a media researcher for iSentia.

Media Monitor, Sentia Media Group October 2008 to July 2011
Summarising Queensland radio media, news and interviews in a concise, saleable, easy to read written format.
As part of this role he completed the following work that is ‐
Development of Staff guidelines 2011, The Queensland division of Media Monitors records summaries of
media items from radio stations such as the ABC. The inclusion of commercial FM music focused stations for
these summaries presented issues, as often content was frivolous and employees would spend too much time
on non‐saleable content. Mr Morris worked in a team that created best practise for employees recording
commercial stations.
Creating a template and guidelines for media researcher notes, 2012 — Media Researchers would create
supporting notes to Media Analysts that did not always meet their expectations. Mr Morris worked in a team
that created standardised expectations for these supporting notes. The team liaised with both analysts and
researchers to produce the best result for both parties.
Training staff 2013 — Sentia Media Group has part time team that summarises the National Business Review
once a week to distribute to clients. Mr Morris gained proficiency in this task and was given the responsibility
of passing on this knowledge to incoming team members.

Teaching English — In Korea extra‐curricular English lessons are extremely popular. Mr Morris taught English
to children aged between 5 and 12. During his time at Sinhak Elementary he developed and used existing
curriculum as well as building a positive rapport with students.
