On January 29, CHSPC was blessed to have three of their very own graduates preside over Mass in the gym. Most Reverend Bishop Shel-ton J. Fabre (’81), Auxil-iary Bishop of New Or-leans, Deacon Jamin David (‘00) and Deacon Andrew Merrick (‘99) presided over Mass to celebrate Catholic
Schools’ Week.
The theme of Catholic Schools’ Week was Light the Way. Both deacons shared some of their fond memories of CHSPC with the student body, and what brought them to God. Deacon Merrick and Deacon David are to be ordained to the priest-hood on May 31, 2008.
Three Graduates Preside Over Mass
Students Hold Teleconference with Columbia, South America!
April 15th was International Language Day in Columbia, South America. To mark the occasion our Spanish classes held video confer-ences with Colegio San An-tonio Maria Claret, a Catho-lic school located in the town of Cali in Valle, Co-lumbia. The English class in Columbia asked ques-tions in English and our students responded in Spanish. The students used our new StarBoards for the teleconference.
Thanks to funds received from an EEF Diocesan
grant, the school pur-chased 14 new StarBoards for classrooms. These are the newest technology in interactive presentations. StarBoards include high-powered ceiling-mounted projectors that are con-nected to laptops and display on 10’ screens. These systems can broad-cast presentations and DVD’s, as well as, connect to the Internet and cable channels. We are all ex-cited about these new teaching tools!
