DAVIDE DE SANTIS ARCHITECTPORTFOLIO 2015
EURegeneration - Redevelopment ex towers of Financial District, Viale America, ROME
32
I am a young architect, graduated with honors in March 2015, at the University of Rome
‘La Sapienza’ - Faculty of Architecture.
The nature of my degree course has allowed me to improve many aspects of personality.
It involved a great spirit of initiative, creativity, research, self-motivation and enthusiasm.
Six months abroad, from July to December 2015, have offered me opportunities to adapt
to new environments. I have learned how important itis to be flexible and make use of my
own resources.
I consider myself dynamic, reliable, determined, eager to learn and able to assume any
responsibility. I think I have the ability to work on a variety of projects simultaneously, as
a team member or individually, respecting the roles and times assigned.

4 5EURegeneration - Redevelopment ex towers of Financial District, Viale America, ROME2015
Located in one of the most important neighborhoods of Rome,
EUR, the ex Towers of Financial District, abandoned for many years,
needed a regeneration and we propose a mixed use development
with a public plaza at the ground floor that will create a new
center for the community while connecting the various pedestrian
pathways that crisscross the area.
The project promotes interactive relations and encourages
encounters in the public spaces that vary from commercial,
residential, and educational to recreational. The entire complex is
a three-dimensional urban space in which buildings on the ground,
under the ground and over the ground are fused together.

The three buildings are connected each other with two
bridges. One of these connected the offices where you
can find a restoration point and a nice place to chatting.
The other one connected the green public space and
separed private to public.

14 15Library - Faculty of ArchitectureVia Flaminia, ROME2011
The site for the Library was chosen in Borghetto Flaminio,
only a few minutes walk from the famous Piazza del Popolo,
and considered a future centre for the Faculty of Architecture.
It will bring together collections previously housed in
separate libraries strewn throughout the city.
The building was inspired by the “Humbolt Universitat” by
Max Dudler, but the heart and core of the library follows the
design of the ancient pantheon.
The architectural concept of the construction is based on
two elements (two rectangular blocks), connected each
other by two bridges.
The new Library contains the university computer centre, library
administration and meeting area.
The facades subtly reveal the function of the building behind them through
varying openings in the stone body of the structure and was erected
using Travertin which makes a strong impression through its natural stone
structure.
In the interior decor, calmness and clarity are achieved by reducing the
colour palette to just a few tones: white-gray, black-gray and reddish wood.
Reading tables and table lamps are also part of the architectural design.
