    MEET TWO OF OUR MISSIONARIESDonald and Eleanor Davis are missionaries of the Christian

    Churches or Churches of Christ on furlough in the United States aftera five year term of service with the Central Provinces India Mission atBilaspur M P India

    Don has served for the past three years in India as the principalof the Schaefer Memorial Christian High School and Kududand Primary School of Bilaspur This has included the management of theChristian Home for orphans and underprivileged boarding studentswho come from churches of Central India While learning the Indianlanguage Hindi he served as instructor in the Central India BibleCollege Eleanor in addition to being mother of three small boys hasassisted the care of some sixty orphans in the Home She has alsostudied the Hindi language and handles much of the correspondenceo f the Mission

    Bilaspur is a railway junction and city of some sixty thousandpeople near the geographic center of India It is the center of missionary activity for the area The majority of the people of the area areHindus There are also Muslims Sikhs and aboriginal animists Thereare two strong Christian churches in Bilaspur both of which are aresult of the pioneer work of Harry and Emma Schaefer who went toIndia in 1913 The mission work of Bilaspur was greatly expandedunder their son Harry Schaefer Other missionaries include Ben andEstelle Schiller who plan to return to India soon to work with the HighSchool Presently Bernel and Joan Getter continue with the SargujaDistrict work amongst the Groan tribals and the Orissa churchesWilliam and Jean Roland lead the Central India Bible College whichsupplies the area with an indigenous ministryEVANGELISTIC AND EDUCATIONAL WORK

    Christian literature in both Hindi and English language media. Donhas served two terms as the chairman of the New Testament Publication Association, a cooperative effort of missionaries in India. Uponreturning to India one project aims at placing a Bible in every Christianhome. In addition to his work in central India, Don has conductedevangelistic campaigns in the North-east Indian province of Assamand Madras in the South. The Davises plan to return to India earlysummer, 1960, to begin their second term of service there.METHOD OF SUPPORTBoth Don and Eleanor Davis are supported by the congregationsin which they grew up: Don is the overseas minister of the FirstChristian Church of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Eleanor is supported by thethe Madisonville Christian Church of Cincinnati, Ohio. During theirone year stay in America they hope to subscribe funds that will enable them to continue work already started and to expand in newerpromising areas. Don writes, In the past our mission funds hove beenextremely limited. It is hoped that our American Christian friends willpledge support to this work of God. We will promise in return to spendthese funds as wisely as we know how and to keep our contributorsinformed as to what the ir funds enable us to do. We ask individualsand churches to consider seriousiy adopting one or more of the following projects while we are still able to work in this great country.HERE IS W Y U CAN HELP
