The minimum size for display advertisements in DAWN is 5cm X 2col (8cm)

Special Incentive 15x8 Advertising While 15x8 col/cm advertising occupied 120 col/cm of space, these ads are charged at the rates of 108 col/cm, the same area as a 27x4 advertisement. 15x8 insertions thus include an 11% cost incentive for advertisers. Career Opportunity Advertisements Career advertisement rates are based on Sunday Base Rates Rs. 3,850 per col/cm for Nationwide advertising. The minimum advertisement size for these ads is 5cm X 2col (8cm). Colour advertisements include a 20% premium, and must be at least 15cm X 4col (16.11cm). For fixing the position of the advertisement, an additional 25% premium is applicable. Friday/Saturday Special Offer On Fridays and Saturdays, subject to space availability, Front Page 15x8 ads will be accepted at Back Page 15x8 rates. Material Deadline All finished artwork must be received at least 24 hours prior to the insertion date. Any artwork received after this deadline will be published as provided. DAWN takes no liability for any discrepancy in artworks received after the deadline. It is the responsibility of the advertiser to deliver the final artwork and confirm receipt from DAWN staff.

Obituaries and Religious Event Notices are accepted in one of two categories:

Personal Obituaries and Religious Event Notices: Personal is defined as non-corporate and related to either the death of an individual or to a religious event organized or attended by persons in their private as opposed to corporate capacity.

Corporate Obituaries and Religious Event Notices: These are accepted at standard advertising rates. Obituary Guidelines Subject to space availability on colour pages and print deadlines, a picture of the deceased may be printed in colour in the Obituary at no additional cost. This picture may take up no more than 40% of the total space of the ad, and can only contain a picture of the deceased. Free Make Goods (FMGs) will not be entertained for complaints arising due to production issues with colour printing. For two and three ad packages, proof of earlier ads will be required at the time of booking. These packages are valid for 40 days from the placement of the first advertisement and can be used for the following events or equivalents - Death announcement, Janaza, Soyem and Chelum. Religious Event Notices Guidelines Please note that all Religious Event Notices are accepted subject to the discretion of the Editor, and can only be used to advertise events as mentioned above.

Lead Advertiser Sharing Scheme

The cost of advertisement, in Karachi edition only, is equivalent to 55% of the Nationwide rate on weekdays, and 65% of the Nationwide rate on Sundays. The cost of an advertisement in either Lahore or Islamabad edition only is equivalent to 30% of the Nationwide rate each. To place an ad in one station where only Nationwide advertising is accepted, Lead Advertisers or their advertising agencies must secure alternate advertisers/partners to advertise in the editions where they are not placing their advertisement. If Lead Advertisers or their advertising agencies fail to find an advertiser for either the Lahore or Islamabad editions, their advertisements will run nationally in all three editions. In this case, Lead Advertisers or their advertising agencies will be billed at the full Nationwide rate. If however, the advertisement is scheduled to appear in a position in which Local Advertising is accepted, the Lead Advertisers or their advertising agencies may opt for one edition only at the respective local rate, subject to the Terms and Conditions governing local rate advertising. For positions in which there is no Local Rate, the Lead Advertiser must initiate the Release Order, which can be for any of the three editions. It is then the Lead Advertisers responsibility to ensure that the other slots in the LASS scheme are sold and charged in accordance with the DAWN tariff. The responsibility of the Lead Advertiser ends when payment is made to DAWN. The Lead Advertiser is responsible for the full amount payable, if any of the available slots are not sold. Terms and Conditions for LASS

1) Once a booking is made, cancellations are not permitted. In the event of a cancellation, the booking agency/advertiser will be charged the full amount of the advertisement with the applicable premium.

2) Bookings will only be made with a Release Order stating the name of the client and the dates of insertion. Release Orders will be irrevocable.

3) The Scheme is open to advertisements published on national holidays (March 23, December 25, August 14, Ashura etc.)

4) The Scheme is open only to the clients paying commercial rates and is not applicable to advertisements billed at government commercial and pure government rates.

5) Pure government advertisements, billed at the regular rates applicable to such advertisements, can be booked on the Front Page under the below two conditions:

Page Specific Release Orders must have a floating booking period of one week; i.e. the specific date of insertion will not be given on the Release Order. Instead, the first day of the week will be marked on the Release Order and the advertisement will be placed on the Front Page on the first available date. If the advertisement cannot be published by the seventh weekday, the Release Order will become date specific and will follow the rules of Date Specific Release Orders described below.

Date Specific Release Order If a pure government advertisement booking is received for the Front Page against a date specific Release Order and the Front Page is not available on the specified date, the advertisement will automatically be shifted to the Back Page, failing which, it will be shifted to a non-premium color page. This will be specifically stated in the Release Order.

6) Government commercial advertisements booked at government commercial Front Page rates will not be removed from the Front Page, even if a booking for a private advertisement has been received for the same date.

Booking Cancellation Policy

Cancellation Deadlines Cancellations must be communicated to the Marketing Department at PHPL in writing during business

hours between 9:00 am and 5 p.m. Provisional bookings without a Release Order will be treated as tentative. It is strongly recommended that the Release Order is sent with the advance booking, as verbal bookings

will be disregarded if a Release Order for the same date is received from another advertiser. Advertising agencies will be held responsible for the cancellations at payments. These cancellation charges are applicable on all pages except Front Page, page 2, page 3, Back Page and

Metropolitan Page. Cancellation charges applicable on Front Page, page 2, page 3, Back Page and Metropolitan Front Page:

1. Cancellations made five working days in advance of the scheduled date of the insertion will be billed at 30% of the gross rate of the advertisement.

2. Cancellations made four working days in advance of the scheduled date of insertion will be billed at 40% of the gross rate of the advertisement.

3. Cancellations made three working days in advance of the scheduled date of insertion will be billed at 50% f the gross rate of the advertisement.

4. Any cancellations in/or less than two working days in advance of the scheduled date of insertion will be billed at 100% of the gross rate of the advertisement.

5. Cancellations must be communicated to the Marketing Department at PHPL in writing during business hours between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm on Monday to Friday and between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm on Saturday.

6. Bookings without a Release Order will be treated as tentative and not as confirmed. 7. It is strongly recommended that the Release Order is sent with the advance booking, as verbal bookings

will be disregarded if a Release Order for the same date is received from another advertiser/advertising agency.

8. Advertising agencies will be held responsible for the cancellations and payments. Cancellation charges for Fixed Positions, advertisements booked in advance; except for in the Monday edition and editions published the day after a Public Holiday:

1. Cancellations made 72 hours in advance of the scheduled date of insertion will be billed at 10% of the gross rate of the advertisement.

Cancellation Charges for DAWN Magazines: The cancellation deadlines for all DAWN in-paper magazines are six days prior to the publication of the respective magazine.
