    Welcome 1Director's Note

Scott Morgan, Community Services / Parks & Recreation Director

The Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department hasalways placed a high priority on promoting positive lifestylesfor Douglas County families. We know that families that recre-ate together tend to be closer and more cohesive, having agreater chance of creating healthier relationships. This is truewith both parent/child relationships and married couples. Byparticipating in recreation activities together, family memberselicit feelings of loyalty, trust, harmony, teamwork and good-will. This atmosphere encourages family members to try newbehaviors and lifestyle changes. Many families use recreation asa way to form bonds and transfer important values to their chil-dren resulting in family experiences that create positive memo-ries and often lead to future participation. In fact, many recre-

ation activities develop life skills which stay with participantsthrough their adult lives.

Mission StatementTo continue to create and preserve quality parks and recre-

ation opportunities, serving people of all ages and interests,

that positively affect the community and enrich life.
