Concept Redesign
The preliminary design concept was presented to the Historic Preservation Review Board on November 1st,
and the Commission of Fine Arts on November 15th.
Following these first reviews, and in response to comments received from HPRB and CFA, DDOT directed the
DC Streetcar Program Management Team (PMT) to assume the design work from the Design Build Team (DBT).

Presentation and review of 3 alternative concepts addressing site improvements, landscape, architecture, materials and
notion of civic
Preference for the contained scheme that relocated the entry to the southwest of the building was the group consensus
deserving further development
January 31st Work Session - HPRB, CFA, DDOT, Design Team
Review of 3 further developed architectural and landscape concepts Podium, Punched and Lateral.
Attributes of all 3 concepts were identified as having strengths.
Staff recommended refining concepts into 2 concepts for submission to HPRB and CFA.
Upon receiving concept approvals, DDOT will direct the PMT to develop bridging documents that will be
provided to the DBT.
The PMT will be providing oversight of the DBT through development of the construction documents and
construction of the facility.

Summary of Comments:
The CFA and HPRB accepted the location.
Sensitive landscape and infrastructure design is essential.
Building design and massing should be simplified. Design needs to be more civic.
