Dear Parents and Students of CYC #22, - 2015 Hari Om! I am looking forward to meeting your child / children at the Chinmaya Youth Camp, at CMW’s Retreat Center at Krishnalaya, Piercy, from June 27 - July 5, 2015. I would like to share with you some information that would help you prepare your children to participate fully in the Camp. Camp Information 1. Camp Theme for 2015 is “ Life and Teachings of Swami Chinmayaynanda” 2. Directions to Krishnalaya:

Take 101 North from San Francisco for about 200 miles. You will pass small towns like Willits, Laytonville etc. Do not take the first sign that says “Piercy”. Continue till you see the sign "271 West, Cooks Valley". At that point there is an exit to your left. Take this exit, go over the green bridge after which you will see our Ashram on your right.

3. Bus Rides

Those who are taking the bus from Sandeepany to Piercy on June 27th are requested to be on time Chinmaya Sandeepany, 10160 Clayton Road at 8:00 a.m. on June 27th.

4. Schedule on the Day of Arrival (June 27):

2:00 p.m.: Arrival and Camp Registration 5:00 p.m.: Camp Orientation 6:00 p.m.: Arati 6.30 p.m.: Getting to know one another 7:30 p.m.: Dinner Those who are driving your kids to Krishnalaya are requested to arrive around 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 27th. 5. Guidelines on what to pack for children:

Clothes:

• I would like to suggest that parents help pack their children’s bags with suitable attire for the Camp. Several Pujas will be performed in the course of the week. Arati is performed by the Students every evening. We would like the Students to wear Indian outfit for the arati so that they can get used to our traditional ways of prayer and worship. The weather during the day will be warm and may even get uncomfortably hot.

• We will be celebrating Guru Paduka Worship and celebrate with plays and skits, Rasa and Garba etc. Please send the appropriate outfit for children so they can dress up for celebrations.

Dress Code: Arati and Poojas: Indian outfit Classes: Loose pants and T-shirts eg. jogging outfits serves very well (but no

shorts please). Sports and hiking: knee-length shorts and T-shirts

Yoga at 6:30 a.m.: Loose jogging pants will be most suitable since it can be cold during that time of the day.

Eel River trips: Swim-wear; Special sandals to use in the river as there are very sharp rocks on the river bed; Beach towel for use by the river.

Other Recommendations:

The weather can be unpredictable: - Bring sweaters, a jacket, warm clothes, in case of cold weather. - Bring a rain coat and umbrella in case of rain, a flashlight and an alarm clock.

Musical Instruments: If your child / children play musical instruments that can easily be transported, they are encouraged to bring them along so they can be a part of the bhajan ensemble.

No Food or Snacks: Please do NOT send food or snacks especially candy and chewing gum with your children. We do not allow food in the rooms. We provide wholesome healthy meals and plenty of it.

No Bedding, Blankets, or Towels (except for the beach towel mentioned above) The Camp provides all beddings with blankets and bath towels. Other Prohibited Items: Please do not send the following items to the camp:

a) Electronic games of any kind. b) Playing cards. c) Any kind of mechanical toys.

Teddy bears and stuffed animals are permitted for young children.

We will confiscate all items that are not appropriate for the camp and return them at the end of the camp.

Please pack each child’s suit case in his or her presence so that she/he knows what you have packed. This is specially helpful to the younger children. Please note that boys and girls have separate accommodations. Please pack their clothes / items in separate bags.

Miscellaneous Information:

Camp Conclusion: The Camp will conclude after Breakfast on July 5th. Returning bus leaves Krishnalaya at 9:00 a.m. Medical Release Form: Please fill out the Child's Medical Information form and mail to us in case of emergencies if you have not already done so.

Staying in touch: Children may call home by using the phone in the dining Hall.

Important Announcements for Parents

(i) Camp Eligibility The Camp is open to: (a) Students who are enrolled in Bala Vihar or Yuva Kendra programs at any of the three Bala Vihar locations in the Bay Area, San Jose, Fremont, and San Ramon. (b) Students who are attending Bala Vihar or Yuva Kendra Programs at Chinmaya Mission Sacramento. Students who fit the above qualifications and are serious in taking part in an in-depth study of Hindu Culture may apply. (ii) Camp Dates: The camp begins on Saturday, June 27th and concludes on Sunday, July 5th 2015. Part time admission is not available. (iii) Camp Location: Krishnalaya, Piercy, CA (iv) Transportation We are arranging bus rides for children and Teachers who need transportation from San Jose to Piercy and back. Bus Fare: $80 is for one person one way $160 is for one person round trip This is fare is set by the bus company. (v) Camp Registration, Room & Board, Transportation :
