Legislative Changes
Most of the changes reflect what is required by state law
We had a fair process that included input from all levels.
Our evaluation tool is in compliance with the state legislation.
Our 2008 initial model was also aligned with the intent behind the state legislation
Legislative Changes Beginning 2013-14:
Evaluations Must Include
Annual Year End Evaluation for Administrators.
Student growth data by 2013-2014, 25%; 2014-15, 40% 2015-16 50%.
Administrator’s training and proficiency in using the evaluation tool for teachers.
Legislative Changes Beginning 2013-14:
Evaluations Must Include
Progress made by schools in meeting the school improvement plan
Pupil Attendance
Student, parent, and teacher feedback
Legislative Changes Beginning 2013-14:
Those rated ineffective or minimally effective would need an improvement plan
If rated ineffective on 3 consecutive year end evaluation the administrator must be dismissed.
If rated highly effective on 3 consecutive evaluations the administrator would only need to be evaluated every 2 years.
Legislative Changes Beginning 2013-14:
Established the Michigan Council for Educator Effectiveness (Formerly Named the Governor’s council).
Recommendations will hopefully be coming from the council in the near future.
