Dearing Road Landfill Maintenance Mark Thomas Gilmore Environmental Consulting, LLC 3 February 201 1 [email protected] Overview This project included the following maintenance tasks: Search eastern half of landfill for a sixth well Clear brush for 15' around each test well Clear fallen branches from access roads Put new locks on each well Drill 1/4" drain hole in metal security casing 1" above ground level Extend inner PVC casing on one well to convenient height Fill between PVC casing and security casing with sand Replace all well caps with identical pressure fit caps Prime security well casings and p aint safety yellow Epoxy a plaque on each security casing to identify the well Perform another depth test (last test was prior to finding 5th well) The eastern half of the landfill was walked by two people on 11 January 201 1. No further wells were found. Depth Readings from the 11 January sampling are recorded below, as are the readings f rom 7 December 2011 taken before the discovery of MW -5. Photos showing all other tasks are recorded in the last section of this report. Photos of the access trail to monitoring wells show that fallen branches an d saplings have been cleared. However, if regular access is required, the trail will need bushhogging once or twice per year. A lar ge depression near MW-3 will prevent vehicles from getting closer than 30' unless it is filled. Finally , the only obstacle that prevents the trail from circling past the wells is a large fallen tree at the base of Tree Stand 7. Removing this tree and moving t he base of the tree stand would allow a vehicle to drive past all monitoring wells without the need to reverse.
