Deaths and Funerals McRAE Dorothy H. McRae, 80, of 603 Hawthorne Street, died June 29 at her place of residence. She was a native of Atlanta, Ga., but lived in High Point most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Iola Hawk Harris. She was a former member of Living Waters Baptist Church and the Furniture City Elks Lodge, #282. McRae is survived by three daughters, DorcHhy J. Buchacannon of the home, Barbara Harris and Shirlon Brown both of High Point; two brother. Palmer Harris and Tommie Lee Harris both of High Point; six grand¬ children and a great grandchild; and a host of other rela¬ tives and friends. Service was held July 2 at Living Waters Baptist Church, where the Rev. Thomas officiated. Burial fol¬ lowed in Oakwood Memorial Park. Gilmore-Hargett Funeral Directors handled the arrangements. PEMBERTON Annie Florence Pemberton, died July 3. She was born November 15, 1925 to the late Tobias and Delia Legrande Pemberton in Mt. Gilead, N.C. She attended Richmond Schools and was of Methodist faith. Pemberton is survived by a brother, James Pember¬ ton of Mt. Gilead; six sisters, Elma Thompson of Hartsville, S.C.; Sally Wall of Candor. N.C.; Delia Bogans, Caroline Lindsay. Ida Covington and Addie Harp all of High Point. Service was held July 7 at Hargett-Gilmorc Memori¬ al Chapel, where the Rev. Robert Williams officiated. He was a gradu¬ ate of Carver High School (class of 1989). Smith was a member of Carver School Marching Band and as a fresh¬ man, he was a member of the JV Football Team. He attended DeVry Institute of Atlanta. Ga. and Forsyth Technical Community College. He was a member of Gethsemane Hope Baptist Church, where he was Direc¬ tor of the Youth Choir, a member of the Usher Board and Drummer for the church. He was born July 6. 1031 to the late Charlie and Inez Dubose in Winston-Salem. He was a Baptist by faith and attended the Forsyth County Public Schools. He was a former employee of Winston Nail Company. Dubose was a Veteran of the Limed State Army having served during the Korean War. Dubose is survived by a brother. Charlie F. She served on the Sunday School Class #1. Ladies Aid #2 and Missionary Group. She was also a Charter member of the Atlantic Social Club. Atwater later served as Assistant Football Coach and Track and Field Manager for Atkins High School and was employed at the First Assembly of God as a Custodian. BENJAMIN Johnnie Brooklyn Benjamin, of 4655 Indiana Avenue, died July 2 at the Veterans Administration Hos¬ pital in Salisbury. He was born July 18, 1914 in Timmonsville, S.C. to the late John and Roxie Black Benjamin. He was a veter¬ an of the United States Army, with service in World War II. and served as a military policeman in Fort Bragg. After his tour of duty, Benjamin moved to Winston- Salem and was employed with the Veterans Administra¬ tion for over thirty-two years. He was a faithful member of the Worldwide Church of God for twenty-four years. He was a veter¬an of the United States Army, with service in World WarII. and served as a military policeman in Fort Bragg.After his tour of duty, Benjamin moved to Winston-Salem and was employed with the Veterans Administra¬tion for over thirty-two years.
