Fall Conference
• Teacher Roundtables– Discuss/exchange ideas– Need presenters– Be looking for an email from me regarding
presenters/facilitators on topics
Fall Conference
• Registration will be online and opens September 16
• Check email for registration information
• Only chapter officers and advisor attend
• Mandatory to attend and go to workshops
• Held in OKC at Oklahoma City University
• Date: Tuesday, October 16
Membership Registration• http://www.decaregistration.com/hs/Login.aspx• http://www.decaregistration.com/collegiate/Login.aspx• You will need to contact National DECA for a user name
and password.• If you have any questions about the system, please
contact National DECA at (703) 860-5000.• Contact Michael Mount at [email protected] for
membership registration questions.• National Dues are $8 and State Dues are $10 for $18
combined.
November – DECA Month
• Choose a week to celebrate DECA during that month– Planned activities– Be seen on campus– Encourage new memberships– Left up to each chapter as to specific
activities
State CDC
• Hotel Conduct– Go over Rules of Conduct when staying at
hotel with students
• Dress Code Strictly Enforced– Guidelines are posted on okdeca.org– Follow guidelines– Will ask advisors to check at door
• Additional Guidelines will follow
Competitive Events
• No CAP Program (No notebooks)
• Guide is available online at National DECA website and also on OkDECA.org
• Photo ID will be required at State CDC for competitive events
New Events for 2012-13• Virtual Business Challenge – Restaurant
– Simulates restaurant management and ownership functions
• H&R Block Dollars and Sense Challenge– Becomes official competitive event
• Entrepreneurship Innovation Plan Event– Recognizing opportunities in the marketplace
• Entrepreneurship – Growing Your Existing Business Event– Creating a plan to grow a student’s existing venture
ICDC
• April 24-27, Held in Anaheim, CA
• March 11 - Registration Due in State Office by 4:30 p.m. and payment due in full
• Responsible for hotel and travel arrangements

What Local Chapters Can Do

• Recognize New Teachers and Mentors at State Conference and at Summer Conference

• Send out monthly newsletter to chapters with articles from various chapters
• Send out Friday Flash emails to Advisors
• Redesign and keep website current
• Push press releases from state office to local chapters and include media outlets as sources of local information
• Social Media Usage (Twitter, Facebook)
Media Development
• Put new information on officer webpage each month
• Responsible for DECA Chapter of the Month Selection
• Correspond with representative chapters weekly via email, Facebook, Twitter
• Contact regional schools with 9th graders• Visit at least 2 companies in your region to
tell them about DECA
State Officer Outreach
• Visit Chapters to encourage membership and visit with school administrators
• Meet with legislators regarding funding• Meet with businesses to encourage
sponsorship/scholarships/membership• Continue communication with advisors• Friday Flash Emails as reminders• Coordinate Statewide Activities: DECA Day
