CHRISTMAS MIDNIGHT MASS FROM THE CATHEDRAL  LIVE ON WGN‐TV Cardinal Francis George will be the main celebrant at Christmas Midnight Mass at Holy Name Cathedral. WGN‐TV/Channel 9 will broadcast this Mass live on Christmas Eve beginning at 12 a.m. for viewers in Chicago and the suburbs. Fr. Greg Sakowicz will provide commentary. This Mass will be streamed live on WGN TV's web site: wgntv.com  CHRISTMAS MASS FROM MERCY HOME FOR BOYS AND GIRLS A Christmas Mass pre‐recorded at Mercy Home for Boys and Girls and celebrated by Cardinal George will air on WGN‐TV/Channel 9 at 8:00 a.m. on Christmas Day. Check your local cable schedule for the channel position in your area. 

COMMUNITY OF LOVE 

The family has been the basic unit of society for thousands of years. Today, traditional ways are being challenged. Rapid change has taken place in the mores and values of our soci‐ety. Things once regarded as permanent and abiding are no longer seen by many as necessary or even relevant. As mem‐bers of the Catholic Church we must uphold the Christian image of family given to us by God. To do less would be to contribute to its breakdown. (…)   A critical issue facing families today is the balancing of time between home and the workplace. Many parents are obliged to spend long hours working during the week and often dur‐ing the weekend as well which can take its toll in family life. Intimacy between family members cannot be built if there is no quality time to share activities, feelings and aspirations. Our business can harm the wellbeing of others especially in the family who need us.   We encourage all families to live to the full their calling to be a community of love for each other and to witness to the wider Church and community the grace, generosity and for‐giveness of God’s unconditional love.

COR’s CORNER—THANKSGIVING ‐ 2013. If you stopped in at the convent on Wednesday, November 27th, you would have found, Michael cooking 2 Turkeys (of the 4 from the Ushers Club) in the kitchen.  And while that was going on, Fred, at home, was cooking a Turkey (1 of 8 donated by Andrea and our school teachers).  The pumpkin pies (20 of them) were there from Bob and all the fruit (apples, oranges and pears) had been delivered by our Knights of Columbus.  All the other foods (stuffing mixes, cans of corn, string beans, gravy, sweet potatoes, cranberries and olives) were donations from Kathy and all her friends at the Feevha Fitness Center.  We were going to prepare 70 dinners to be delivered to families and our homebound parishioners   On Thanksgiving Day, all of our volunteers (Alex, Chris, Dennis, Diana, Erin, Joyce, Laura, Loretta, Lottie, Marcey, Marilyn, Mike, Patti, Sloan and Violet) started the day with a prayer.  We heated the turkey, cooked all the vegetables, (potatoes from Jerry), bagged all the fruit, cut up the pies, and packed all the containers in boxes (from Pat and Rich).  All the meals were picked up and delivered. The remaining turkeys (from Andrea and our Ushers) were given to families of St. Ferdinand along with a pumpkin/apple pie from Patti with Market Day’s Pennies for Pies from our school children.  Our Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts prepared and delivered food baskets (complete with holiday and every day foods) to 3 families.  A special Thank You to our school children, COR is so grateful for all the Pumpkin and Apple pies from your Pennies for Pies.  God bless you.  And COR has its angels…..Jim and Janine, Joanna and Eleanor…….so many thanks to you.  God bless you.  And to you all…..our volunteers, our Ushers and Knights, our Scouts, teachers and friends, a million THANK YOUS for your gifts, your time and talents, your caring and sharing.  God has blessed COR with You.  May He bless You always and in all ways.

 Przygotowanie uroczystości 50‐lecia Kapłaństwa kardynała Franciszka Georga w 

naszej parafii wymagało wiele czasu, pracy i poświęcenia dlatego pragniemy złożyć  nasze gorące podziękowania  wszystkim, którzy nas wspomagali i wspierali tak w trakcie przygotowań jak i podczas uroczystości. W sposób szczególny  dziekujemy Komitetowi Organizacyjnemu, zespołom muzycznym, sponsorom I wolontariuszom, którzy poświęcili swój wolny czas by uroczystość była doskonale przygotowana.  Pomimo nie najlepszej pogody uroczystośc była imponująca, a zadowolenie ks. Kardynała bardzo widoczne.  Niech Pan Bóg błogosławi i strzeże za włożony trud i za Waszą obecność!  Bóg zapłać!

 Our office is currently reaching out to Spanish and Polish speaking families on the north side about our Regional Gifted Center at Greeley Elementary School, which is located near Irving Park Road and the lake.  CPS provides free bus transportation to the school for students in the program and many Polish families‐‐living as far west as Belmont‐Cragin and Dunning‐‐are delighted to participate in the program.  Students develop both English and Polish language skills, work at an accelerated pace, and prepare to enter the city's top public and private high schools.     Parents can access an application at www.cpsoae.org ('apply' then 'application materials' then "Selective Enrollment Elementary School application').  They can also visit out office (address below) or call us at 773‐553‐2060.

 Ks. mgr lic. Paweł Augustyniak, urodzony 4 grudnia 1975 r. w Końskich. W 1999 r. ukończył Wydział Prawa Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego Jana Pawła II w Lublinie. W 2001 r. wstąpił do Wyższego Seminarium Duchownego w Radomiu i rozpoczął studia z zakresu teologii w ramach Uniwersytetu Kardynała Stefana Wyszyńskiego. Święcenia kapłańskie przyjął 26 maja 2007 r. z rąk ks. Abp. Zygmunta Zimowskiego. W latach 2007‐2011 pracował jako wikariusz w parafii Podwyższenia Krzyża Świętego w Zwoleniu. Od 2011 r. jest wikariuszem w parafii Wszystkich Świętych w Starachowicach. W 2008 r. rozpoczął studia z zakresu prawa kanonicznego KUL w Lublinie, zakończone w 2012 r. obroną pracy magisterskiej i licencjatem rzymskim. Obecnie jest doktorantem w Katedrze Kościelnego Prawa Małżeńskiego i Rodzinnego KUL. Od września 2012 r. pełni funkcję obrońcy węzła małżeńskiego w Sądzie Kościelnym Diecezji Radomskiej. Jest także katechetą w I Liceum Ogólnokształcącym im. Tadeusza Kościuszki w Starachowicach.

Drogi Ksieże Zdzisławie oraz drodzy Przyjaciele , Niech bedzie pochwalony Jezus Chrystus! Serdeczne pozdrowienia z Filipin!  15 pazdziernika i 8 listopada  2013, region Visayan na Filipinach zostal zniszczony przez 7.2 stopnia trzesienie ziemi i tajfun Yolanda . Jak wiecie ucierpiało tysiace ludzi , wielu z malych wysp w tamtym regionie zostalo zniszczonych, ucierpieli najbiedniejsi.  Coraz wiecej osob ktore przeżyły , wielokrotnie całe rodziny znalazły schronienie w naszym domu misyjnym w Cebu. Przyzwyczajamy się do dzieci biegających po naszej misji, jesteśmy bardzo szczęśliwi widzac ich usmiechniętych po tym co przeżyli w ostatnich tygodniach . Rodziny uczeszczają na codzienną mszę świetą i na modlitwy z naszymi Braćmi. Obecnie 80 osób z dzielnic Bohol i Leyte przebywa w naszej misji, niektórzy z nich odnaleźli juz swoje rodziny i połączyły się ze swoimi krewnymi z Manili.  Poprzez wasze hojne ofiary, w kwocie $9,010 i 200 pesos, które zostały zebrane w Waszym kościele możemy zaoferować  pomoc, schronienie, żywność i leki dla tych ktorzy zostali dotknieci ta straszna tragedia. W ich imieniu dziękujemy wam drodzy bracia i siostry, wasze chrześcijańskie postępowanie to znak ze jesteśmy jedna wielka rodzina i nie jesteśmy sami. Mamy nadzieję że za złożone przez was ofiary będziemy mogli pomóc również w odbudowniu zniszczonych domów dla osób, które obecnie z nami  przebywają. Zapewniamy o naszej wdziecznosci I codziennej modlitwie . Życzymy Błogoslawionego przeżywania okresu Adwentu! W Chrystusie Panu, Ks. Rowell Gumalay MOP

BAPTISM:

For Children: a pre-Baptism class is required for Baptism of the first child. Classes are held in English on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30PM in the Church, and in Polish on the last Tuesday of each month at 7:30PM in the Church. Following registration, the sacrament of Baptism is celebrated in English on the second Saturday each month at 6:00PM and on the fourth Sunday of the month at the 12:30PM Mass. The sacrament of Baptism is celebrated in Polish on the first Saturday of the month at 6:00PM and on the third Sunday of the month at the 3:00PM Mass.
