Scale: A rate or a ratio that is used when making a model or a drawing of something that is too large or too small to be drawn at actual size. Example: A map where 1 in. = 10 miles
Write a ratio: 6 inches for every 1.5 feet
With rate problems, one of the units of measurement will always equal 1. Per gallon, per pound, per hour. etc.
What is the rate? 12ounces for $1.80 ~
A percent change is an increase or decrease given as a percent of the original amount. Find the % change: from $2.00 to $5.00

Test: If you get stuck converting a fraction
into a decimal, you can always,
(and I mean always),start by dividing the numerator by the
denominator. When converting a decimal to a fraction, focus on the number of places to the right of the decimal; it will tell you value of the denominator.
By saying the number without the word ‘over’ or ‘point’, you will have the fraction or decimal you are looking for. All that’s left is to simplify.

Even this simple exercise involves probability and percentages. The more you know, the better decisions you will make.
