DearSectionMembers,
Aswearecountingdaysuntilthebeginningofanewyear,wecannotbutreflectonwhat2016meantfortheEdmontonASQSection.
Westartedtheyearwithagreat leadershipteam,committedtoaveryambitiousbusinessplanfor2016.AsyouwilllearnduringtheAGMpresentation,weachievedourgoalsprovidingmembervaluethrougharecordnumberofdinnereventsandactivities,whichforthefirst timeextendedthroughthesummervacation.
Inspiteofthechallengeswewerefacing,astheentireprovincewasgoingthroughrecord levelsofunemploymentand financial hardship, we saw an increased interest and participation from thesection membership to all activities planned for their benefit, which gives us the confidence tocontinueonandthesatisfactionthatourworkisappreciated.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank thesection leadershipteam for the effort anddedication they have put in, tirelessly;most of them accepted to continue their roles for anothermandate,servingthesectionforanotheryearandmentoringthenewmemberleaders.

AnASQFellowisanindividualwhohasanestablishedrecordofcontributions,bothtothequalityprofessionandtotheSociety.ThegradeofFellowisanearneddistinction.Rajeev’sachievementofthisstatusisasymbolofrespectfromhiscolleaguesthathasbeenacceptedbythehighestofficersofourorganization.RajeevisthefirstCanadiansince2011tobeappointedasanASQFellow,andisthefirsteverASQFellowfromAlbertaandSaskatchewan.TheEdmontonSectionthanksRajeevforhisservicetotheASQcommunityandforhiscommitmenttoquality.RajeevwillbepresentedwithhisFellowpinattheFellowLuncheonthatwillbeheldinconjunctionwiththe2017WorldConferenceonQualityandImprovementonApril30th,2017inCharlotte,NorthCarolina.CongratulationsRajeev!!!
AboutRajeev:RajeevChadhaistheindustrialtechnologyadvisorwiththeNationalResearchCouncilofCanada(NRC).Hereceivedamaster’sdegreeinmanagementandsystems,andanotherinprocessandfoodengineeringasaUnitedNationsUNDPFellow.RajeevistheformerchairofASQ(AmericanSocietyforQuality)Saskatchewan,andhasvastexperienceinAutomotive,Manufacturing,Chemical-BiologicalandMiningindustryinAsiaandNorthAmerica.Rajeevstartedhiscareerasabio-conversionprocessengineerinthepulpandpaperindustry,anddiversifiedhiscareerworkinginfood,biochemical,andhealthcareindustrialresearch.HeworkedasaSixSigmaCIleadintheminingsectorwithMosaicPotashULCCanada(2009-2013)andservedOntario’sautomotiveindustryfrom2000to2009withlaunchingseveraltop-ratedvehicles.RajeevisthecurrentchairofASQ-MiningDivision,andhasrepresentedSaskatoonFolk-fest&SIA(SaskatchewanInterculturalAssociation)ontheirboardofdirectors.RajeevisalsoamemberofAPEGS(AssociationofProfessionalEngineers&GeoscientistsofSaskatchewan),andhisresearchinterestsincludeprocessimprovements,LeanSixSigmainminingandmanufacturing,processcontrolengineering,totalqualitymanagement,andstrategicmanagement.______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
