WELCOME LORI SMITH
We would like to welcome Lori Smith as our new ministerial assistant. Lori has worked as an administrative
assistant for the Department of Defense in Hampton Roads and Northern Virginia for about 10 years. She has
about six years of experience as an administrative assistant working for two separate congregations that have
muti-staff positions. She and her husband, who has been a Southern Baptist Pastor for over 33 years, relocated to
Cobb County to be close to family. They are
both active members at Kennesaw First
Baptist Church.
Please be sure to stop by the office and in-
troduce yourself to Lori as you get the
chance. She can be reached by e-mail, at
[email protected]. All messages sent to
[email protected] will also be deliv-
ered to Lori for the next several months.
END OF YEAR CONTRIBUTIONS
Please give your end-of-year contributions on or before Sunday, December 31st. The IRS requires a contribution to
be delivered to the church or post-marked by December 31st in order to receive a 2017 income tax deduction. If
you want to know what we have on record for you so far this year, please use your REALM account or call the
church and request a copy of your donations Year-to-date

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
Thank you to all of those who gave, packed, prayed, and worked in Operation Christmas Child. The drop off center
collected 2,965 boxes and included in that number are 327 that our church gave. These little gift filled boxes are
able to go into areas where no churches exist and the children who receive boxes go through a twelve week pro-
gram that teaches them about Jesus and how to witness to others. It is said that each box touches seven to eight
people lives. Again, I say Thank you!

LEADERSHIP TEAM
As we enter December, we look forward to Christmas and the time that we will spend with family and friends. It
is also the last month of the current Leadership Team structure. Our Team has been a great one this year. We have
had some challenges to overcome and many decisions that had to be made. Many people have been involved as
we moved through the plans for the DOT construction project as well as other activities that the Team considered
throughout the year.
Thank you for your prayers for wisdom, courage, love and strength for this team. The members were Jim Caulk,
Bess Clements, Earl Gossage, Jim Hodges, David Huckeba, Betsy Moody, Cindy Moore, Al Southerland, and Vanessa
Biggers.
David Huckeba, Jim Hodges and Vanessa Biggers will rotate off the team this year. Replacing them will be Steve
Stephens, Angela Millsapp and Wayne Bartlett. Please continue to pray for our Leadership Team!
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made
known unto God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through
Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6,7
In His Service,
Vanessa

WEEK OF PRAYER AND THE LOTTIE MOON CHRISTMAS OFFERING
The Week of Prayer for International Missions is December 3–10. One hundred percent of gifts to the Lottie
Moon Christmas Offering fund International Mission Board missionaries who are making disciples and multiplying
churches among unreached people and places. In 2015, the efforts of the missionaries resulted in 1.9 million hear-
ing the gospel, 175,290 new believers, 15,058 pastors receiving training and 6,138 new churches plantings.
The Week of Prayer for International Missions is your opportunity to join the work of missionaries around the
world. As you read the stories throughout the week, you will discover how the Gospel resounds in places like Ne-
pal, Russia, Japan, Mexico City and London. You’ll also find specific requests to pray over each day. Look for a bro-
chure placed on tables around the church building.
Your prayers and gifts to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering will help the Gospel continue to resound throughout
the nations as you send and sustain missionaries and their work. The SPBC goal for this Offering is $15,000. The
LMCO will be received throughout the month of December.
As the culmination of the Week of Prayer, we will have a missionary couple speak to us at our Christmas banquet
on December 10th at 5 p.m. Reverend Kenneth Ellison DMin, ThD and his wife Mary will be here. Dr. Ellison is an
accredited Minister of the Gospel in the Noonday Baptist Association of Georgia, the Georgia Baptist Convention
and the Southern Baptist Convention.
At the banquet, Dr. Ellison will share some pictures of their visit and ministry in the area of the Lottie Moon
Church from two years ago. Many people ask if Baptist work in China is alive. They wonder if there is any evidence
that our long time involvement there is bearing fruit today. He will be sharing how God’s message of grace and sal-
vation is drawing many to faith in our day and how we can pray for and become involved in ministry in China in
this generation. To enjoy the banquet and meet the Ellisons, make a reservation by December 7th. The costs are
$8/adult, $4 child, $22 family maximum. Children 5 and under are free.
Learn more about the Week of Prayer missionaries and find their stories at IMB.org/LMCO and in the December
2017 edition of Missions Mosaic from WMU (WMU.com).
