DECEMBER 2017
Messages from our 2017-2018
Deer Valley #3871 Presidents
From: Worthy President Frank Ferris Brothers and Sisters
Well here we go, another year coming to an
end but before we cruise into 2018 let’s
reflect on all of our blessings. As a member
going into my 7th year and an officer going
into my 5th year we have seen many
transformations in our club, and as your
President I am pleased to say that with the
help of all of our officers, volunteers and
you, the members I can see a more positive
attitude these days than ever before and
trust that you do too.
We need to keep this momentum going
towards continued growth and prosperity for
all of us, our members, our families and our
friends. While sometimes we forget that
there is a lot going on behind the scenes we
also need to remember that what we do here
and what we have here is not just about you,
it’s about all of us!
I for one can admit that I am not perfect and
have sat and listened to many of you and
have taken suggestions to the floor where
changes have been and will continue to be
made for not only what we have today but
tomorrow and the future of our club as a
whole. Here is where I cannot stress enough
that attending even just one meeting per
month can make a world of difference and
an even better understanding to what your
obligations and privileges’ are as members
of OUR club.
With that said, let me say that I am honored
to be your President and feel truly blessed to
have all of you in my life where your support
and friendship means the world to me.
I wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a
Happy New Year. See you in 2018!

From: Madam President Cindy McGee
Sisters: I would like to start out wishing each one of
our members and their families a Joyous
Holiday Season!
There is a box on the front display case for
Holiday cards you wish to give to your Eagle
friends to brighten their Holiday Season.
Look for your cards when you come in.
The Pure Heart Toy Drive will be ending
December 10th so if you wish to bring in new
toys or donations, time is running out. I
would like to especially thank Roe and
Jimmy for letting us know about this great
program and their hard work on the delicious
meals and fundraising they provided for
support.
We will have our Children’s Holiday Party
December 16th from Noon to 2pm. Please
make sure we have your child’s
(grandchild’s, niece’s, nephew’s) name on
our list or Santa won’t know to bring their
gift. Come early and pick up some
homemade goodies at the Annual Bake Sale
starting at 10am. If you love to bake, please
bring in your donations wrapped for sale
either Friday evening or between 9am and
the start of the sale.
Our Adult Christmas Party will be on
December 23rd. Please join us to relax and
have some fun, enjoy the entertainment and
celebrate with your Eagle family!
An update on October’s Alzheimer fund,
Corinne and Ken received a $5000 grant
added to the $4,180 raised throughout the
month for a grand total of $9,180!!!!
Awesome job.
The Auxiliary would like to thank Bob for his
generous donation of the walleye and catfish
on November 17th Fish Fry. His donation
will go towards the Children’s Christmas
Party gifts as requested. What a selfless
thought, it is what the Eagles are all about.
We raised over $330 to add to the fund.
Thank Bob for the donation and thanks to all
who advertised this event, and Pam and
Linda for their hard work in the kitchen.
Looking back on 2017 it’s great to see all
that our Auxiliary has done to bring in new
members, we also want to bring back those
that may not have been here for a while. If
you talk to someone who hasn’t come in, tell
them we miss them and invite them back.
Our New Year’s Eve Party tickets will be on
sale soon, $35 per person, Sierra Outlaws
will be the entertainment, food and party
favors to bring in 2018. See you there!!
Please check with the bartenders for your
tickets.
Please share with me a wish for the New
Year that we all give out what we wish to
receive in return. May our love and
acceptance of others be mirrored to all of us
in every moment.
Be safe!

TOUCH OF HUMOR
A man was lying on the grass and looking up
at the sky; as he watched the clouds drift by,
he asked, “God, how long is a million
years?”
God answered, “To Me, a million years is as
a minute.”
The man asked, “God, how much is a million
dollars?”
God answered, “To Me a million dollars is as
a penny.”
The man then asked, “God, can I have a
penny?”
God answered, “In a minute.”
A Touch of Life
A nurse on the pediatrics ward, before
listening to the children’s chest, would fit the
stethoscope into their ears and let them
listen to their own hearts. Their eyes would
always light up with awe.
“Listen,” she said to little four-year-old Seth,
“Do you hear it? What do you suppose that
is?” He listened to the strange tap-tap-
tapping deep in his chest. Then his eyes lit
up, and he exclaimed, “Is that Jesus
knocking?”
Computer salesperson: “This computer will
do half your work for you.”
Customer: “Then I’ll take two!”
What did the big hand on the clock say to
the little hand?
“I’ll be around in an hour.”
Deer Valley Eagle Rider’s – August Newsletter No news from the Eagle Riders this month.
Reminder ................ Every Sunday breakfast 9-11 am. Eagle Riders meeting 1st Monday of each month. King of Hearts on Thursday nights. Don't forget to check and see if you have the Lucky number of the day when you come in, on the board at the end of the bar by the video game machine. There are many specials if you happen to have the Lucky number of the day. To ALL Members
It is with a heartfelt thank you for all of you that helped us raise money for Alzheimer’s. By opening
your hearts and wallets, we raised over $9,000.00 the month of October for this very worthy cause.
Ken and I also would like to give thanks for your patience with our grandchildren and allowing them
to participate and feel they were making a difference.
This does bring up another issue. We noticed as we were at the club so often that there isn’t really
anything to do for children in our “family club.” This being said, Ken and I will continue to raise
money for the next year to improve the grounds and give our children something to do. Our idea is to
buy a quonset hut that will be filled with video games, pinball machines, pool table, etc. for the
children to use. We will also lower the basketball hoops on the basketball court, so it is usable for the
children. This plan is just for the first year and are hopeful to continue receiving your support.
Ken will continue making breakfast and lunch Monday through Fridays; meat raffles, Thursday night
dinners and any other opportunity we have to cook and raise money. We will officially start the month
of December so watch for the menu ‘s along the bar and tables.
Thank you again,
Ken, Corinne, Jason & Jarynn
Special Thanks Have you noticed the new American Flag and Arizona Flag, it looks wonderful every time we drive
into the parking lot or past the club to see them waving in the wind is beautiful.
Don’t be part of the problem
Be part of the solution
