Advent
December 3 was the first Sunday in Advent. Advent means coming. During Advent we get ready and wait
for Jesus to come. Each Sunday in Advent, we light a candle on the Advent wreath. The Advent wreath has
four candles to remind us of the four weeks we wait for Jesus birthday. The circle of the wreath reminds us of
Gods never-ending love. A circle has no beginning or ending. Jesus told a story to help his disciples get ready
for his coming. Jesus wants us to get ready for his coming too. Praying is one way we can get ready for
Christmas.
Dear God, please help me get ready for Jesus birthday by talking to you. Amen.
The Advent Wreath
The Advent Wreath is an ordinary wreath with special candles added to it. Three purple candles and one pink
candle stand around the outside of the wreath, and a white candle fills the center. Each Sunday during the
Advent season, one candleeach representing something differentis lit. The Advent wreath gets brighter
and brighter as Christmas approaches.

Snow Shoveling
If you can help out with shoveling the sidewalks at church, please see the signup sheet on the Narthex
counter. We have some very faithful shovelers, but could use a little help. Sign up for a week and keep the
sidewalk shoveled on Monday through Sunday of your assigned week. Church sidewalks only. Preble does
the sidewalk on Deckner Avenue for us. Shovel/snowblow by the 3 entrances. See Dave Haefs with any
questions.
Prayer Chapel/ Prayer Vigil
"Be still and know that I am God" Psalm 46:10 We are a people of prayer and soon we will have a dedicated space in the church for quiet contemplation in the Prayer Chapel (the old library space). Through the month of November, Pastor David and the Prayer Chapel committee talked about prayer and how we can, as a collective people, put forth our concerns and joys as a connection to God.
For inspiration to uplift our community in prayer, a prayer vigil event will take place on Saturday, December 2 at 12:00pm 4:00pm and beginning again on Sunday, December 3 at 4:00am 9:00am, followed by a Prayer Chapel blessing. Everyone is invited to come and pray. Please enter & exit through the side entrance of the church. There will be prayer materials available for you to use during prayer time. The hosting team will have light refreshments in the Fellowship Hall during the prayer vigil.

Hope For All
Worship with us on Sunday morning as we share a bilingual worship celebration (English & Spanish). This celebration is open to all people. The worship service is called Hope For All Esperanza Para Todos. Come let us worship the Lord! Worship time is 11:15 a.m.
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
In the 1500s there was a protest brewing in the cobblestone streets of a small university town in Germany. A professor and monk, Martin Luther, was teaching, preaching, and leading a sort of revolution in the Christian Church. This movement spread to other towns, states, and moved northward into Scandinavia. Today, we recognize the 500th anniversary of Reformation.
In the summer of 2014 I was fortunate to spend a week in Wittenberg, Germany during my sabbatical. I will be sharing my reflections on this experience during the Advent Evening Services beginning Wednesday, December 6. Soup Supper at 6 pm followed by a short reflection of Luther at 6:30 pm.
Hymns, prayers, some biographical material of Martin Luther, and a few slides will highlight this major spiritual event in history. I will also show a new movie, Martin Luther, The Idea That Changed the World.
Wishing you a most blessed Advent, Pr. David Raben

Pauls Pantry
We always collect Egg Cartons, Paper Bags, Plastic Bags, and Eye Glasses for Pauls Pantry. Put your donated items in the Narthex Counter cabinet marked Pauls Pantry. The pantry was founded in 1984 by the late Leo Frigo. Leo had retired as President of Frigo Cheese and wished to devote the remainder of his life to helping those in need. Leo realized that the amount of food being thrown away by business was shameful and that the unsaleable but edible food could be used to benefit the needy in our local community. Please join us in supporting their mission by donating egg cartons, bags, eye glasses.
Atonement's Prayer Chain
The Prayer Chain consists of several people who are contacted via e-mail when someone has a prayer request. When an email is received by the group, they each pray for the request. If you would like to be on the list to receive prayer requests, or if you would like the group to pray for you or a loved one, please contact me, Janet Jacobson at 468-0238 or e-mail [email protected].
In the Hospital?
If you want us to know you are going to be and/or are hospitalized, please be sure to contact the church office, 468-0713. When admitted to the hospital, tell them to contact Atonement. Even when you tell this to the hospital, sometimes we are called and sometimes we are not. The only way to be sure we know about your hospitalization is for you or a family member to contact us directly. Without your assistance, it is very possible your hospitalization will not be known to us.

Green Bay Packer and Harley Davidson Tee shirts
wanted!!!
The Quilting Team has been very busy over the last few years making quilts for charity. All their hard work raised $1,500 for the Violence Intervention Project of Kewaunee County. Bob and I thank them from the bottom of our hearts for all their efforts in helping our event the last 2 years. They would like to assist us again next year. Our dilemma ~ We do not have any more Harley tee shirts sitting around our home after the successful last 2 years. Do you have slightly used Packer or Harley tee shirts you are no longer using? Would you be so kind to donate your shirts to our projects? We can come up with the funds to purchase the other materials for the projects, but need help from our community to secure enough shirts to make the project successful. Each person donating a tee shirt can feel they have personally participated in helping to better the life of domestic violence victims.
Large Print Bulletins are available from the ushers.
