November 10, 2021 We honor our veterans, worthy men and women who gave their best when they were called upon to serve and protect their country. We pray that you will bless them for their unselfish service in the continual struggle to preserve our freedoms, our safety, and our country’s heritage, for all of us. Bless them abundantly for the hardships they faced, for the sacrifices they made for their many different contributions to America’s victories over tyranny and oppression. We respect them, we thank them, we honor them, we are proud of them. We pray that you will watch over these special people and bless them with peace and happiness. Progress ReportsToday marks the halfway point of the 2nd quarter. Please log into Jupiter and review your child’s grades. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher. Interactive Panel BoardsWe are so excited to have our new Interactive Panel Boards in all of our classrooms. We were able to purchase the boards with EANS funding and replace the outdated Smartboards. Teachers and students love using the new boards.

Veteran’s DayIn honor of Veteran’s Day, we collected items for the 1163rd MCAS Kentucky Army National Guard. This group is currently helping with border crossing efforts. I want to give a shout out to our SAS community for being so generous and supporting this great cause. Our students will also make cards to send to our Veterans to thank them for their service.

Secret SantaIt is hard to believe the Christmas Season is quickly approaching. Once again this year we will be hosting our Secret Santa Shop. Inclement WeatherWinter months are quickly approaching and this brings the possibility of inclement weather. Inclement weather could cause a delayed opening or cancellation of school. Please review the information below regarding inclement weather procedures.

● Delay or cancellation of school will be posted or broadcast in the following ways: WDRB TV, WDRB Snow Fox Alerts, St. Anthony School Facebook Page and Website, and a message from Jupiter. ● A delayed schedule (2 hour delay) will result in the building opening at 8:00 and school beginning at 9:50

Again his year, we would like to have virtual learning days if we must cancel school for any reason. This would mean that students in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade will be required to access Google Classroom during the day. Assignments will be posted by the teacher. Depending on the grade level, learning could be synchronous and/or asynchronous. We will send home more guidelines pertaining to virtual learning due to inclement weather in the coming weeks. We will not have any more than three consecutive Virtual Learning Days. If we have more than 3 days of Virtual Learning, then January 17th, February 21st and May 6th are set aside as make up days.

Christmas ProgramThe Christmas Program is scheduled for Thursday, December 9 at 7:00. The program will be held in the Church. Our K-4 students will participate in the Program.

Drop InHello 7th and 8th-grade parents the link is for volunteer slots for the next Drop-In on December 10.. Just a reminder that if there are not 2 volunteers the event will have to be canceled.

This Friday is Stewardship Friday!· Kindergarten – After the lesson, the students will understand that: 1) our homes are a blessing from God; 2) not everyone has a home; and 3) it is difficult to be homeless.· 1st Grade – After the lesson the students will understand how they can help someone in need and will be prepared to serve the pre-school children at Community Action of Southern Indiana Head Start. Please look for information coming home Friday about a special stewardship project for our new “little buddies”.· 2nd Grade – After the lesson the students will understand the concepts of 1) helping the hungry through a food collection, 2) sharing out of gratitude and 3) making donations more personal by writing a special note to the recipient.· 3rd Grade –Students will begin to learn about the importance of memories and will make a special gift for their elderly pen pals. · 4th Grade – After reading the articles, answering the questions, and role-playing as doctors, the students will understand different disabilities and will experience answering patient’s questions as a doctor.· 5th Grade – After hearing from speakers, students will understand the role that faith and attitude play in the healing and well-being of those who are living with a serious illness.· 6th Grade – After hearing a case study and discussion, students will understand the effects of “healthy ingredients” in the development of children growing to adulthood.· 7th Grade will learn after reading articles, answering questions, and mock TV interviews, some of the many issues related to homelessness.· 8th Grade – After the session students will know how to create and to begin planning for their Signature Service Project.

Your child will again bring home a Family Stewardship discussion paper. This document will let you know what they learned and it provides you with a 5-minute parent/student discussion format to re-enforce the Stewardship Friday lesson. You are asked to sign this paper and return it to your child’s teacher. Reminder: Your student will bring home a G.I.F.T.S for God envelope. Involvement in G.I.F.T.S. for GOD is between the student and God. Giving is NOT being monitored.
