Dear Church Family,
As I sit in my office and I begin to ponder what I should write for our monthly
newsletter, I have come to the conclusion that we may need a little humor to lighten the load of the heat and the scarcity of rain. I came across this little story a while back and would like to share it with you. A minister of small rural church was preoccupied with thoughts of how he was going to ask the congregation to come up with more money than they were expecting for repairs to the church building. When it was brought to his attention that the regular organist was sick and a substitute had been brought in at the last minute. This just added more stress to the problem. Now, the substitute wanted to know what to play. "Here's a copy of the service," he said impatiently. "But, you'll have to think of something to play after I make the announcement about the finances." During the service, the minister paused and said, "Brothers and Sisters, we are in great difficulty; the roof repairs cost twice as much as we expected and we need $4,000 more. Any of you who can pledge $100 or more, please stand up." At that moment, the substitute organist played "The Star Spangled Banner." And that is how the substitute became the regular organist! I would ask that you please continue to pray for rain. While we may have gotten plenty in the late winter and early spring months, what was once in abundance has now grown barren. I was reminded during food distribution in June that we need to pray specifically for our needs. Therefore, when praying for rain, pray that rain comes to your specific address and all the address you can remember, pray that rain comes to houses, farms and gardens of specific people, and pray as specific as you possibly can that God will send much needed showers to our dry lands. Also, don’t forget to check the calendar and your bulletin for our events in the month of July; Freedom Celebration, Marvelous Mondays, ice cream social, family night supper, and family movie night are all coming up rather quickly. This will be a great time to invite a family member, a neighbor, or a friend to come to church and get to meet our church family. Joshua 24:15, Rob Brazell

Declaration of interdependence
Let it be declared, announced and hereby celebrated … • That all people everywhere are dependent upon one another. • That everyone needs everyone else for freedom, life, love and happiness. • That all things in the natural order are dependent upon everything else. • That our little planet and all the planets and stars in the solar systems are in a state of mutual dependence upon one another. • That this universally shared dependence comes from God and is of God. • And that each individual part of this relationship has its own part to play — its own destiny to fulfill in God’s plan.

I have found that this life is short enough and long enough to laugh at honest clowns and to weep at requiem; to break bread with a beggar and to accept a gift from a king, to walk with a child at her pace and to stretch to the step of the wise.
This life with all its graces is a table spread for feasting. A Host who asks our presence has meat and bread and brimming cup we can never taste Until we take them into ourselves with costly pledge. Some look through the window and walk by, while life is at the table -William Hogg
