DESCRIPTION
Juan de Dios is originally from Mexico, but has been living in Denmark for several years now. It is here, he has developed his own unique style as a photo artist. In-a-Rush! is what he has named this style. Quick snapshots of the world we haste by. But unlike yours or my snapshots, his pictures are taken with prolonged shutter time – making them into dream-like, almost pastel-like works of art. Juan de Dios stammer oprindeligt fra Mexico, men har gennem mange år boet i Danmark. Det er her, han som fotografisk kunstner har udviklet sin helt egen stil.
In-a-Rush! kalder han selv stilen. Hurtige snapshots af en verden,vi hastigt iler forbi. Men i modsætning til dine og mine snapshots er hans billeder taget med lang lukkertid – og bliver til drømme-ag-tige, næsten pastelagtige kunstværker.

All any of us want, is more time. Be where we are and not somewhere else. Chaos reigns in our lives with chores to do, goals to achieve, bills to pay, things to fix,
tic-toc, tic-toc, tic-toc…
Yet, sometimes, something catches our attention. It stays for just a second or even less than that. But it is in that mo-ment when everything makes sense, when peace showers our souls and we are able to see, we are able to understand…some-times its like if things, objects were alive.
And suddenly the flag outside a school or a windmill in the middle of the road; the Viking who took this same road to rest or to build a place to share his faith, all collide. And suddenly it doesn’t matter the time when it happens… it is the moment that we share. It is as if we saw the same tree to set ourselves to rest and reflect.
And suddenly time is not important be-cause more than a thousand years ago, this very same thing; this sentiment, this very moment caught someone’s attention. And breaking the gap of time we coincide.
Tic-toc, tic-toc, tic-toc…click.
DeDios intention is to capture that for-gotten second, that moment that seems invisible to those eyes that live in a rush. It is his intention that with this set of im-ages, the heart of the spectator opens up and is sensible enough to seek those in-timate moments where peace annuls any rush, where peace makes us able to find the beauty of art.

Det er sjældent, man møder større ny-tænkning i dansk landskabs-fotografi.
Danskere har en nogenlunde fælles forståelse af, hvordan Danmark skal ses – guldaldermalerne har ikke levet forgæves!
Måske derfor skal der en udlænding med friske øjne til at vise os landskabet, som det også kan ses, og det er præcis hvad der lykkes for Juan de Dios i sine billeder, der både er optaget i store og små byer og rundt omkring i de danske landskaber. Hvilke mageløse iagttagelser! Nye linier og former og farver dukker op for vores undrende øje: er det virkelig Danmark?
Det er det, og det danske landskab vil efter dette aldrig blive helt det samme.

It is rare to encounter a major innovator in the Danish photography landscape.
Danes have a fairly common understanding of how Denmark should be seen – the Gold-en age of painters have not lived in vain!
Perhaps then, only a foreigner with fresh eyes, could show us the landscape, in a new way to be seen, and that is exactly what Juan de Dios achieves with his pic-tures. Captured in both large and small cities, and around the Danish countryside. What wonderful observations! New lines, shapes and colors show up for our won-dering eyes: is it really Denmark?
Yes, it is... and the Danish landscapes will never be quite the same after this...
