What is Diesel Exhaust Fluid? Scott Petroleum uses an API-certified, Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) of technically pure urea mixed with demineralized water that is designed to meet the specifications of DIN 70070:2005 and ISO 22241-1:2005 for NOx abatement technologies. TerraCair is used in Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems to change the Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx) emissions in diesel exhaust to nitrogen and water vapor. Nitrogen makes up about 78% of the air we breathe every day. Is DEF usage required by law? YES, in those diesel engine vehicles equipped with SCR products after January1, 2010, DEF is required for emissions after treatment. What are the benefits of using DEF? Diesel engine vehicles equipped with SCR will have a separate tank to hold the DEF. Those vehicles using our DEF not only meet the 2010 tailpipe standard, they also deliver significant fuel economy. It’s good to know you’re cleaning the air while increasing your Miles Per Gallon. Why choose Scott’s DEF over other brands? TET manages the complete process from the gas fields to the vehicle tank. TET is the only manufacturer who controls and oversees the entire distribution chain to ensure that the product quality delivered to the customers tank complies with ISO 22241.
