The Defence Equipment Sales Authority (DESA) is the sole authority within the UK Ministry of Defence that is responsible for managing the sale and transfer of surplus Armed Forces military equipment.

Halmatic Pacific 22 Mk II is a fast rescue rigid hull inflatable boat, constructed in accordance with SOLAS requirements for life saving appliances and approved for eight persons. It is capable of approximately 32 knots at full load, under optimum sea conditions. At 20 knots and at full load, endurance is 4 hours 30 minutes (90nm). The Pacific 22 Mk II is powered by an in-board diesel engine powering a water jet. Until recently it was operated by the Royal Navy as a general sea boat for ship to ship operations (launched from frigates and destroyers) as well as for maritime counter-terrorism operations, ship boarding, counter-piracy and counter-narcotics operations. DESA is working with its specialist contractor to refurbish some Pacific 22s. They are offered for further use and can be viewed and demonstrated in the UK.

RFA ARGUS As the Royal Navy’s Primary Casualty Receiving Ship, Argus has supported UK forces across the world during the Ebola crisis as well as Bosnia and the Gulf War. She currently holds a 100-bed medical complex onboard and acts as a floating medical facility, including intensive care facilities with CT scan services, during times of war. Regularly supporting humanitarian and disaster relief operations, her flight facilities allowing her to carry Merlin, Chinook, Apache and Wildcat, provide flexible and capable facilities. With an aircraft lift and hangars, her secondary role in support of aviation training is most valuable. OSD is 2024.

HMS Scimitar and Sabre are Scimitar-class fast patrol boats of the British Royal Navy. The Scimitar-class vessels were originally built for use on inlandwaterways in Northern Ireland and were first brought into service in 1993, manned by the Royal Marines based in Lough Neagh, Northern Ireland. HMSScimitar and Sabre were acquired by the Royal Navy in 2002 and commissioned into the Gibraltar Squadron on 31 January 2003 where they have provided force protection and security to Gibraltar’s maritimeenvironment. They are used for police, customs and rescue purposes as part of the Royal Navy Coastal Squadron.

Rigid Raider Craft manufactured by RTK Marine (Halmatic) is a versatile fast assault craft that can reach a speed of 33 knots. With durable GRP hulls and operational in arctic seas to equatorial rivers, Rigid Raiders can transport eight personnel with kit and have been employed for rapid incursions and extractions around the world. They can also be air-dropped out to sea.

Type 23 Duke Class Frigate are a versatile, general purpose workhorse of the Royal Navy – a proven platform that has carried out virtually every mission imaginable across the four corners of the globe. Originally designed for anti-submarine warfare, the addition of the MBDA Sea Ceptor vertical-launched point missile defence system and the Boeing Harpoon surface-to-surface missile expanded its role to include anti-surface warfare. Fitted with the latest BAE 997 ARTISAN 3D medium range radar, the Ultra 2150 bow mounted sonar and the BAE 4.5” Mark 8 Naval gun. The frigate is powered by a diesel-electric and gas system, consisting of two Rolls Royce Spey gas turbines, two Alstom electric motors and four Alstom auxiliary diesels. Carries 2 x seagoing RIBs and a Lynx or Merlin HM2 helicopter.

Currently provide initial maritime training in boat handling and seamanship to Royal Navy Officer Cadets at Britannia Royal Naval College on the River Dart. At 13.7m long with 2 shafts, displacing 11 tonnes , the 8 boats have accommodation for 9 and capacity for 10 students and can operate in inland waterways and Sea States of up to 3. Made of glass reinforced plastic, maintained to Lloyd’s standards and based on the extremely popular Nelson 45 commercial cruiser, these boats have continually and reliably served the college for a number of years.

Sandown Class Mine Counter Measure Vessels (MCMVs) are Glass Reinforced Plastic minehunters designed to resist high shock levels. Extremelymanoeuvrable combiningconventional propellers withbow thrusters, the vessels arefitted with the latest ThalesM-Cube Combat ManagementSystem, which can control minedetection, classification, remotedisposal and ship manoeuvring.The sonar system is the ThalesS2093 variable depth, highresolution and depth, sonarsystem, which is deployedfrom a well in the hull. Griffon Hoverwork Landing CraftGriffon Hoverwork Landing Craft Air Cushion (Light) is a highly capable, amphibious hovercraft that can navigate safely over all depths of water, beaches and ice, with greater performance and obstacle clearance than all competitors in class. Operated by the Royal Marines until this year they are interoperable with Landing Ship (Dock), air transportable by C-17 and road transportable by low loader. Designed for a crew of 2 + 16 persons or a payload of 2,400kg. Built with a marine grade aluminium hull, fitted with a navigational suite and can be fitted with GPMG for force protection. A choice of cabin superstructure allows the craft to fulfil a wide variety of roles making it ideal for military operations, rescue and commercial applications. Available fully refurbished by Griffon Hoverwork.

HMS SCOTT At 13,500 tonnes, the fifth largest vessel in the Royal Navy, HMS SCOTT has delivered deep ocean survey capability since 1997. Ice strengthened to Lloyds Class 1A, she can operate in ice up to 80cm thick and has oil heating fitted to fuel, water tanks alongside trace heating to upper deck equipment to prevent freezing. She is capable of collecting, processing and recording time correlated bathymetric, gravity, magnetic and other oceanographic data. The ship can conduct highly accurate bathymetric surveys with an average speed of 12kt in ocean depths of 50 to 2,500 fathoms in various types of terrain. SCOTT can be equipped with most current commercial of the shelf deep ocean survey equipment, under a programme that can be delivered by DESA. Designed to commercial standards and equipped with two Krupp nine-cylinder diesel engines, which drive a controllable pitch propeller through a single shaft. In addition, a retractable bow thruster is also provided for slow-speed manoeuvring or station-keeping requirements. Would also be capable of acting as a ‘mother ship’.

BAE 146 is a quiet but rugged aircraft, with a high level of built-in redundancy. It can carry many of its own spares, allowing it to operate for long periods away from base, with little or no external support. The aircraft has excellent short-field performance and its ability to operate from high or unprepared airfields in missile threat areas means that the aircraft is extremely versatile.

Britten-Norman(BN2T-4S)RMk2 DefenderThe Defender is a versatile military asset. With an airframe designed to be easily modifiable, the Defender can be used for a variety of roles including: counter terrorism, border patrol, maritime surveillance, policing and urban surveillance, search and rescue, air ambulance and transportation. The Defender can also act as a targeting system for long range weapons and land based vehicles. A sliding door, ten parachutists and a jump master can easily be accommodated if the aircraft is required for training military personnel, and has unbeatable through life costs.

The design allows for exceptional low-speed handling and manoeuvring capabilities, permitting the aircraft to almost hang in the air. Its 70-90 knot speed enables continuous tight turns during low level observation, inspection and photography. It is fitted with durable and fuel efficient Rolls Royce Allison engines, 250-B17F flat-rated at 400hp with 200amp generators. Its basic transit speed is 160 knots.

Puma HC.Mk 2The Puma HC.Mk 2 is a medium support helicopter. The aircraft is used in a variety of combat roles, including the tactical movement of troops, weapons, ammunition and stores on the battlefield, as well as the extraction of casu-alties. It is also employed during non-combatant evacuations, and humanitarian and disaster relief operations. The aircraft is capable of carrying 16 passengers, 12 fully equipped troops or up to 2 tonnes of freight, the latter moved as internal cargo or underslung, or a mix of the two. It can also be fitted with up to six stretchers for operations in the casual-ty evacuation or medical emergency re-sponse team role.

Aérospatiale Gazelle

Aérospatiale Gazelle was first produced in 1968 under an Anglo-French agreementbetween Westlands and Aérospatiale . It was designed by Sud Aviation, laterAérospatiale, and manufactured in France and the UK. Although it only has one engine, its lightweight chassis gives advantages in its small agile nature and its unparalleled visibility from the cockpit. Commonly used for light transport, scouting and light attack duties. It is powered by a Turbomeca Astazou turbine engine and it was the firsthelicopter to feature a fenestron tail instead of a conventional tail rotor. Since being introduced to service in 1973, the Gazelle has been procured and operated by the British Army, the French Army and several export customers.

E-3D Airborne early warning, command and control aircraft (AEW&C) derived from the Boeing 707 and fitted with efficient CFM56-2 engines. AEW Sentry has a long flight endurance of up to 18 hours, designed to cruise at 29,000 feet whilst detecting air and surface contacts with its AN/APY-2 radar. Capable of performing surveillance, identification, weapons control, battle management and communications functions. Maintained to Original Equipment Manufacturer and UK Military Aviation Authority (MAA) standards. E-3D inventory immediately available, further whole aircraft available to follow on.

C-130J has four Allison AE turboprop engines with Dowty Aerospace six-bladed composite propellers. Coupled with a new Full Authority Digital Engine-Control (FADEC) system, this gives the C-130J increased take-off thrust and better fuel efficiency. The aircraft also has a revised flight deck with modern glass cockpit and head-up displays, allowing a two pilot flight deck operation. The cockpit of the aircraft is fully night-vision compatible with the use of night-vision goggles. The aircraft has been cleared for wider use in the tactical role.

Yamaha Grizzly is an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) commonly referred to as a Quad-bike. The Grizzly is well utilised by the British Armed Forces in both operational and non-operational environments. It is designed for single operator use and can function effectively in a wide variety of terrains, including urban and off-road environments. The Grizzly can tow a trailer increasing user versatility; key features also include dual throttle fit to offer greater manoeuvrability and a max speed of 75 km/h.

Vixen Plus is a visually similar but uprated Snatch 2 that is based on the Land Rover 110 chassis and features an upgraded 2.8Ltr 300 TDI engine with an automatic gear box. The 2 crew and 4 passengers benefit from an internal air conditioning system, heavy duty axles, upgraded braking and modified suspension. The Vixen is intended to operate in a variety of conditions, in both peacetime and operational roles and is designed to be used within an urban environment, for which the handling characteristics and manoeuvrability are suited. Typical roles may include command, reconnaissance, liaison, logistic and administrative.

The Husky 4x4 Tactical Support Vehicle (TSV)The Husky 4x4 Tactical Support Vehicle (TSV) is an Armoured Vehicle (Wheeled) platform, providing Protected Mobility for Combat, Combat Support, Combat Service Support and specialist users of the British Army. Husky is a Medium TSV that carries a crew of two (driver and commander), with the capacity to carry a further two passengers, including a gunner or top cover sentry, plus cargo and/or specialist equipment on its rear flat bed. Husky has a Protected Weapon Station, which affords Force Protection and improves survivability for the crew and passengers in contact with the enemy. In some roles it provides Direct Fire support to Dismounted Close Combat.

Land Rover Revised Weapons Mounted Installation Kit (Uprated) or RWMIK+ are lightly armoured, high mobility weapons platforms based on the Land Rover chassis. A range of fire support weapons can be fitted to the rear mounted 360° tactical support module and to the front of the commander’s seat. The RWMIK+ manoeuvrability, firepower and relatively low profile make it suitable for a range of roles including reconnaissance, convoy protection and fire support. Manufactured by Ricardo Vehicle Engineering, the RWMIK+ has a top speed of 80 km/h and with a crew of 3, has the capacity to support itself and crew over 800km. It is air transportable and can be moved by transport aircraft or by heavy lift helicopter. It is the same basic concept used by the famous SAS and Long Range Desert Group since the Second World War.

CVR(T) MK2 CVR(T) MK2 is a tracked Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle that has been in operational service with the British Army since the 1970s. The MK2 Version was produced in 2010 for the British Army’s role in Afghanistan and has an uprated hull with greater ballistic protection. It also includes mine blast plates and bar armour. The MK2 has an uprated powerpack, which gives better performance and is also capable of running an air-conditioning system.

MAN Support Vehicle 6T is part of a fleet of support vehicles built on the HX60 chassis by MAN Truck and Bus UK Limited and entered service in 2008. The Fleet is the Army’s workhorse delivering logistic capability for all Army Units. The support vehicle fleet provides far greater mobility than previous generation cargo vehicles and can be upgraded with armour, communications, electronic counter measures and a turret mounted machine gun for protection. The MAN Support Vehicle 6T is available in Cargo or Flat Platform configuration with multiple variants that include:

Land Rover TUM (Truck Utility Medium) and TUL (Truck Utility Light) are 4-wheel drive vehicles, capable of operating on even road surfaces and un-made grounds. These all-terrain versatile vehicles are still in wide use with the UK defence forces. The Land Rover TUM & TUL can be deployed on a range of duties, including patrol, command liaison and transportation of equipment and personnel. The Land Rover TUM is based on the Land Rover 110 chassis and the TUL is based on the Land Rover 90 chassis, both capable of operating while towing and fully laden. The added weight to the TUM increases handling and contributes to an improved towing platform, whilst the TUL gains all the benefits of lighter weight but with the same engine.

MINIMI 5.56mm L110A2The L110A2 is a fully automatic, belt or magazine fed, gas operated, air cooled weapon capable of sustaining a high volume of fire in short bursts. The L110A2 is used as a section suppression weapon. Equipped with a folding bipod mounted and stowed under the handguard.

SIG SAUER 9mm L105A2The L105A2 (P226) is a magazine fed pistol, mechanically locked, short recoil operated weapon, featuring an automatic firing pin safety lock, single and double-action trigger, de-cocking lever and external slide catch lever. The automatic firing pin lock provides optimal safety with the hammer in either the cocked or de-cocked position. The weapon can only be fired by pulling the trigger (double-action) or by cocking the hammer and pulling the trigger (single-action).

Leafield provide a service to many navies helping them to maintain operational capability through their extensive stock of ex MOD naval spares. In addition, Leafield has a global network of suppliers enabling them to source spare parts using their powerful proprietary database of products and suppliers for genuine parts at competitive prices, backed by a 12-month warranty.

Agility Project Logistics Ltd is the UK MOD contractor for the delivery of military spares sales for tri-service aviation platforms and for the delivery of overseas disposal tasks for all operational and non-operational areas. Agility brings expertise and innovation to supply chain management, logistics and procurement in support of defence and peacekeeping missions, government programs, humanitarian and relief efforts.

Eckert & Ziegler Environmental Services Ltd has been providing safe and cost-effective solutions for the disposal and recycling of redundant radioactive materials for over 20 years, trading initially as Safeguard International Ltd and latterly as part of the EnergySolutions business.

Grundon Waste management Ltd provide a total waste management service for the collection, treatment, recycling, recovery and disposal of all non-hazardous waste streams, including general waste, mixed recycling, paper cups, confidential waste and food waste. They also deal with all aspects of hazardous waste, including contaminated waste, WEEE, clinical waste, as well as providing specialist industrial cleaning services.

The Active Collection Bureau Ltd have over 20 years’ experience of removing harmful material from the environment through recycling or safe disposal at approved storage facilities. Their dedicated team guide customers through the process and manage the disposal of materials in a timely and most cost-effective manner.

E-Cycle provide a complete cradle to grave solution for the disposal of ICT assets, guaranteeing a 100% data erasure service that conforms to Impact Level 5 by default, in accordance with CESG standards. E-Cycle are an environmentally conscious business and are committed to reducing landfill waste through refurbishment, redeployment, remarketing and recycling of assets. E-Cycle is an ethical company with a national reputation for being a valued employer and training provider for people with disabilities.

Slicker Recycling offers environmental and waste management solutions from one-off waste oil collections to fully integrated management solutions working in partnership to find the best solution for its customers. The waste oil collected is processed to create a reusable product called Processed Fuel Oil (PFO); an environmentally compliant alternative to virgin fuel.

ECOBAT Logistics have more than 30 years’ experience in the industry. ECOBAT Logistics have an established reputation for the safe removal of any type of battery or battery powered appliance in accordance with all current UK and EU legislation. Handling batteries used in applications ranging from major stand-by batteries to the smallest button cells, the ECOBAT service is split into four distinctive areas: Bank, Collect, Sort and Recycle.

Veolia offers environmental solutions providing a comprehensive range of waste, water and energy management services designed to build the circular economy and preserve scarce raw materials. Veolia is committed to focusing on carbon reduction by preventing pollution, preserving natural resources, protecting biodiversity, combating climate change and raising environmental awareness.

EMR is a global leader in metal recycling dating back to the 1940s. EMR’s business is the recycling of scrap metal from a range of sources such as end-of-life vehicles/consumer products, industry, construction and demolition, ranging from industrial clearance, total waste management, ship breaking, servicing local government service providers, solder production, cable, copper and aluminium granulation facilities, environmental consultancy and non-hazardous WEEE.

Field Textiles operate a compliant ISO accredited disposal solution selling to Government, trade and end-user customers worldwide.

Harrow Green Ltd is the official contractor for the disposal, destruction, recycling and sale of surplus UK MOD and Other Government Department owned office and domestic furniture. Specializing in logistics and project management, ensuring the disposal and destruction of furniture within mainland Great Britain and Northern Ireland is processed in a quick and seamless manner no matter how big the task.

Brightwells is a long-established and diverse global company with extensive re-marketing specialisms for vehicles, plant and machinery. Ramco is one of the UK’s largest outlets for miscellaneous and government surplus equipment. Ramco collect, store, market and sell a huge and diverse range of products, offering customers the chance to purchase quality government surplus and a range of well presented, “as seen” or refurbished equipment.

Fire Protection Recycling provide fire extinguisher disposal through the safe and guaranteed recycling of fire extinguishers and fire protection equipment. Almost 100% of the fire extinguisher is recycled.

Post Sales Support (PSS) can access MOD inventory in the Land, Maritime and Air environments. For spare part requirements please email [email protected] and PSS will search the MOD inventory for materiel in excess of current requirements. We may be able to sell to you under repayment terms and the spares will come with a certificate of conformance and provenance (where available).

Ammunition is available for Government to Government sale where it can be spared from the UK’s operational requirement. All natures from small calibre to heavy artillery high explosives (HE) rounds and charges can be available as circumstances permit at a negotiated or a fixed price from small calibre blank. Please note that not all types and quantities are available at all times, and that availability may change at short notice dueto UK operational needs.

Weapons are available for Government to Government sale and include tactical shotguns, rifles, automatic pistols, light machine guns as well as other weapons such as riot guns and baton guns. In addition, some complex weapons could be available for Government to Government sale on a case by case basis.
