Independence Day Eve Dance An evening of music and dance on the eve of Independence Day was held in the DSOI Sky Lounge on 14 Aug 2014. Members/dependents enjoyed the evening to their fullest. Plenty of food, snacks and drinks added to the charm and made the evening a memorable one for all members. Come September Dance ‘Come September Dancewas organised on 20 Sep 2014 from 1930 hrs onwards at the swimming pool area. The response from the members and the dependents was overwhelming and the participants thoroughly enjoyed the drinks, snax and dance on the scintillating music beats set up by the DJ.

Heartiest Welcome to Brig MC Chauhan (Retd) on taking over as Secretary, DSOI

The Managing Committee members of the Institute and staff of DSOI extend a warm

and heartiest welcome to Brig MC Chauhan(Retd) who took over as the new

Secretary with effect from 01 Sep 14. We assure Brig MC Chauhan of our best of

success in his every challenging assignment as Secretary, DSOI.

Independence Day Eve Dance

An evening of music and dance on the eve of Independence Day was held in the DSOI

Sky Lounge on 14 Aug 2014. Members/dependents enjoyed the evening to their

fullest. Plenty of food, snacks and drinks added to the charm and made the evening a

memorable one for all members.

Come September Dance

‘Come September Dance’ was organised on 20 Sep 2014 from 1930 hrs onwards at

the swimming pool area. The response from the members and the dependents was

overwhelming and the participants thoroughly enjoyed the drinks, snax and dance on

the scintillating music beats set up by the DJ.

Diwali Function

Diwali Dance was organized on 19 Oct 2014 which was attended by a large number of

members and dependents. The function was followed by a bumber Tambola.

X-Mas celeberations

Christmas party was organized for the dependents of the members on 20 Dec 2014 in

the afternoon. Theme decoration with balloons and steamers was done and lobby

was decorated elaboratly . Santa Clause arrived in Chariot and distributed Toffees

and candies to children. Christmas cake was cut by Santa Clouse. Children enjoyed

Magic Show, Elephant/Camel Ride, Bouncy & Joola. Entertainment artist and Tattoo

Artist. In the evening children danced to the tunes of leading DJs.

New Year Eve 2015

New Year Eve 2015 was celebrated at DSOI on the evening of 31 Dec 2014. A

massive amount of effort was carried out at various levels to make the occasion

successful and incident/accident free.

Sufficient number of counters (approx 60 Nos.) with variety of food was spread across

entire area of the party. Five Bars stuffed with various alcoholic and non alcoholic

drinks operated till 00:30 hrs of 1 Jan 2015. Events near swimming pool and Banquet

hall witnessed a large gathering enjoying the evening. No untoward incidence was

reported. Entire staff and executives of DSOI worked meticulously to make the event

a marvelous and memorable one. Appreciation and accolades were received from

members present for the precision planning and execution of the event.

IMPROVEMENTS

Following improvement /projects have been completed during the period:-

Construction of Boundary Wall.

Wall and Pillar Panneling of Upper Banquet Hall done.

Laying of paver stone at Banquet Hall Lawn completed.

Three Squash Courts have been renovated.

Drainage near Banquet Hall repaired.

Two Portable Toilets near CSD Canteen and one near the Health Club installed.

New furniture for Card Room Purchased.

Venetian Blinds Fixed at CSD Canteen.

Seven RO Plants & Coolers Installed in the DSOI complex.

Three Cassette ACs in CSD Canteen fixed.

Plantation – Appx 300 plants (survival 98%)

Revival of front lawn

Swachhta Abhiyaan (cleanliness) being celebrated.

Staff quarters – cleaning of gen area, revival of park, setting up of badminton

court, revival of volley ball court & constr of stage, ship shapeness of

surroundings.

Garbage lifting of staff qtrs, not lifted for 10 months appx. (Free of cost)

Permanent lighting of the DSOI Main Building and at Main & Rear gates.

Renovation of Gate No.2

War Footing removal of undergrowth, cleaning, leveling and land scaping from

family suits to Janakpuri road (Nursary area)

Land filling of Banquet Hall Lawn

5. Update on Infrastructural and other Projects. Following infrastructure

developmental projects are in progress:

Synthetic Tennis Courts –

Road from Staff Quarters to DSOI Through Tennis Courts.

Renovation of Sky Lounge, Rxn & Lobby Complex.

Renovation of Residential Suites.

MEMBERSHIP ISSUES

Permission to bring Guests by Members on weekends.

It has been decided that maximum 04 guests on weekends and maximum 06 guests

on other days be permitted.

Intimation regarding any change in Rules/Bye-Laws to the concerned members

It has been decided that any change in Rule/Bye-Laws will be displayed on Notice

Board for a period of one month.

Reciprocal Membership with other Clubs/Institutes

Defence Services Officers’ Institute, Dhaula Kuan, New Delhi-110010 has mutually

entered into an agreement to extend all the facilities of this Institute to the bona-fide

Services members on reciprocal basis with the following Institutes/Clubs. For contact

(h) Affiliation with the following Club/Institutes discontinued at their end as conveyed by them:-

Reciprocal members may avail advance booking of various facilities by downloading

necessary application forms from DSOI website i.e. www.dsoidelhi.org . Duly filled in

application alongwith cheques be forwarded for the same. It may please be noted that

for availing the facilities at DSOI production of membership card is mandatory

Charging of Penalty on Loss of Token for vehicle . A large number of Car Token

by members/civilians are not deposited at the gate while exiting DSOI. It has been

decided that Rs 50/- will be charged from members and Rs 100/- from the civilians

towards fine for loss of car token.

Charging of Security Charges & Procurement of X,Y & Z Series Cards . It has

been decided that Rs 500/- will be charged uniformly as Security deposit for all types

of smart cards of X,Y & Z series being used at DSOI.

Conversion of Membership

Members when posted out or who shift their residence out of the National Capital

Region, do not convert their Membership from Active to Outstation. This results in

members continuously paying/being charged subscription at active rates. Members

converting their membership from active to outstation are required to pay their

subscription in advance as per DSOI Bye-Laws. The present billing cycle for outstation

members is from 01 Apr 14 to 31 Mar 15. It may be noted that conversion of

membership from active to outstation is not done from retrospective effect. It is thus in

the member’s interest to convert their membership status, when applicable, at the

earliest, by writing an application to the Secretary and attaching a copy of the posting

order/proof of change of residence from NCR. Similarly these outstation members

when returning to NCR region may also inform DSOI in writing for conversion of their

Outstation membership to Active membership.

Car Stickers

Members desirous of obtaining Car Stickers are advised to remit ` 10/- at the cash

counter and be in possession of a copy of Registration Certificate (RC) and the same

can be collected from Billing Section. This facility is extended only for the Active

members on production of proof (valid membership card). One member is entitled for

only one car sticker.

Wrong parking of Cars

Members are requested to park their cars as per the designated areas. Certain areas

are reserved for certain categories like ‘Own Driven Cars” or “Physically Challenged”

etc. Vehicle parked wrongly or obstructing the flow of traffic will be wheel locked and a

penalty of Rs. 500/- will be levied.

Penal Interest on Late Payment of Subscription Charges. Charging of Penal

interest for late payment of Subscription by members at uniform interest rate of 2% pm

for each month delay is charged from the members, from the month of July 15

onwards.

Updating of Members E-Mail Address and Mobile Numbers

Keeping pace with the present trend in all walks of life, we have switched over to the

e-mail mode of communication with our esteemed members. We would request our

members to keep us updated with their e-mail address as well as mobile numbers to

ensure prompt communication. Details be posted at [email protected] or at

ECONOMY MEASURES & SAVINGS

ENHANCING SUSTAINABILITY

Economy measures undertaken by DSOI received appreciation of members and has

enhanced the economic viability of DSOI. Following economy measures were

undertaken thus adding to savings.

(i) ED Pay Ex Jul 1.17, Aug 1.35, Sep .05 Lac - Rs. 6,00,000

(ii) Meat Cutting under own arrangement - Rs. 10,000

(iii) Recovery of Bricks - Rs. 1,20,000

(iv) Decorative lights - Rs. 40,000

(v) Garbage lifting free of cost - Rs. 30,000

(vi) Using of DD Veh for shifting of soil/plants - Rs. 10,000

(vii) JCB Tractors and land filling - Rs. 1,00,000

(viii) Cut Glasses in Bars 900 NOs - Rs. 50,000

(ix) Standard monthly saving i.e. ED Pay, Meat Cutting etc-Rs.1,90,000

GENERAL POINTS

Hosting of Foreign Nationals

Members can host foreign nationals at DSOI subject to security clearance from

respective Services HQ. It has been observed that some members submit their

request for security clearance at very short notice when it becomes practically difficult

to obtain the clearance from the Services HQ, which causes embarrassment both to

the member and their foreign guests. Members are requested to apply, at least a

fortnight in advance to the Institute, in prescribed form available at the Establishment

Section for the security clearance for entertaining their foreign guests in DSOI.

Dress Code

Members are requested to ensure that proper decorum with regard to the wearing of

dress at the Insitute is maintained. Members and dependents are not permitted to

enter the main building of the Institute in Dhoti, Kurta-Pajama, and T-shirts without

collars or with slogans printed on them, Jeans, Sports kit, wearing sports shoes and

chapals. Male members are not allowed to come in Sandals. Members bringing their

guests to the Institute are requested to ensure that their guests also follow the DSOI

Dress Code (Bye-Laws Rule-47). Similar/appropriate dress code may also be followed

at the other outlets of DSOI viz Canteen, Banquet Hall and Sports Complexes. Ladies

are requested to be appropriately dressed in a comparable degree of formality as that

has been prescribed above for gentlemen and be attired as per norms, customs and

traditions of our society and culture and will not be allowed in sports shoes.

Facilitates for Members/Dependents

Usage of Health Club is against the valid Health Club Card which is made at Health

club. Members/Dependents have to fill a prescribed undertaking form and make

payment of Rs 200/- for a month through member’s Smart Card. Other sports facilities

are provided only after registration at respective sports venue. In addition to sports

facilities, the following facilities available in DSOI complex are very popular with the

members:-

change in dates of the functions and other important information will be placed on
