  • DEDICATION

As well as everything that we do, we would be honor to dedicate this

Final Portfolio to our parents. The two persons that gave the tools and values

necessary to be where we are standing today. Our parents support us on every

step we make, and decision we take; but is necessary to understand that they

let us take our decisions alone in order for us to learn from our personal mistake.

We will never finish to thank our father and mother for all the opportunities that

they have offer and gave us, for all the teachings that they have told us and for

every advise that come out of their mouth. We are so graceful with them for

trusting us that we would do a Good job in the university, and letting us come to

    achieve a higher education.

So thats why we dedicate this Portfolio to our parents, whom expect our

effort on everything that we do, and we think that this Final Portfolio is the

perfect image and reflection of our effort and hard work on our last semester on

    the university.

Mom & Dad: we hope that we can make you proud, the same way that

we are proud of having both of you as our parents and as the compass of our

    life!

    DEDICATION

  • ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The success of this portfolio required the help of various individuals. The

contributions of many different people, in their different ways, have made this

possible. We would like to extend our appreciation especially to the following.

First, We would like to express our gratitude to our Lord, Jesus Christ, for the

wisdom and perseverance that he has been bestowed upon us. Without Him we

would not exist and would not able to have this company research profile and

    all the opportunities.

We would like to express our grateful appreciation to Prof. Sharima

Morales whos giving us new ideas and words of wisdom that helped us making

this portfolio and to all the things we learned from her class.

Our sincere thanks also goes to our critic teachers Sir Estremera and

Tadeo, Maam Gonzales, Casuyon, Esguerra, Endaya, and Mercader First, for

giving their time to be our cooperating teacher and foremost for their patience,

motivation, enthusiasm, and immense knowledge. These knowledge and

experiences we garnered will truly inspired us for our future career as our first

    glance in teaching.

We would like to express especially our profound gratitude to Lagro

Highschool for making our training, the student teaching practicum possible.

We pray and lift for a long run of your school, for a good health to all the

teachers staff and principal, for a good condition, constant strength and

    betterment of your school.

Especially, we deeply indebted and we would really like to thank our

parents,. They supported us in so many ways. Their love enabled us to

accomplish things and this portfolio. For supporting us financially, morally and

    spiritually throughout our life.

    ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

  • This portfolio serves as my compilation on my practice teaching

experiences. It includes those pictures and some documentaries event done

with my field. This portfolio shows and demonstrate how I approach my students

with my teaching strategies of course this portfolio includes those guides for my

teaching career that I can be used someday soon as I am entering the real life

of teaching .I include artifacts, self assessments and other evidence of my

    growth as a teacher.

I start my portfolio with my Teaching Philosophy because this is my

overall statement on effective instruction --- my beliefs on teaching and how I

implement them. The portfolio continues with evidence of teaching and

learning, "Teaching Experience" and "Professional Development" respectively.

These two sections include a summary table for quick reference. The portfolio

ends with a reflection on what I have learned and what goals I am working

    towards.

This Teaching Portfolio shows both my capabilities as an instructor as

well as the areas where I can improve. I am currently finishing a research

focused PhD where I have had to actively seek out teaching experiences. I

have been able to find nurturing mentors, meaningful teaching opportunities,

and enlightening professional development experiences. I understand,

however, that I will always be able to improve and adapt my teaching methods

and that I will need to continue to document and reflect on my pedagogical

    development.

    STUDENT

    TEACHERS PRAYER

  • MY CREED 1. I believe that teaching is not a profession but a vocation, demanding

dedication and a deep sense of commitment.

    2. I believe that I am a co-worker with God, in the divine task of molding and

forming the young and growing minds and hearts entrusted to my care.

    3. I believe that just as a lamp diffuses light, dispelling the surrounding darkness,

so I too, as a teacher, have to diffuse understanding, knowledge and love to my

students dispelling the darkness of ignorance and doubt.

    4. I believe that as a teacher molding children for the 21st century, I must dare

to be different in my methodology and approach, challenging their intelligence,

stimulating their curiosity, exciting their imagination, and inculcating in them

    sound values.

    5. I believe that every child is special and must be treated as such.

    6. I believe that I must honor and respect the implicit pleas of every child to me,

his teacher, to become what he can be.

    7. I believe that I must not differentiate between my students, and that I must

not show any personal preferences or dislikes.

    8. I believe that I must not let my own problems, frustrations and anxieties color

and affect my work and my attitude towards my students.

    9. I believe that I am the decisive element in the classroom. It is my personal

approach that creates the climate. It is my daily mood that makes the weather.

    10. I believe that as a teacher I possess a tremendous power to make a childs life miserable or joyful. I can humiliate,\ humor, hurt or heal,

    11. I believe that and in all situations, it is my response that decides whether a

crisis will be escalated, and a child humanized or dehumanized.

    12. I believe that I must be courteous, humane and kind in all my dealings with

    my colleagues and my students.

    13. I believe that I must cooperate with the management and the authorities,

respecting their decisions and rules, yet never hesitating to express my own point

    of view.

    14. I believe that I may agree to disagree with the management, but always

doing so with frankness and sincerity instead of indulging in backbiting and

    destructive criticism.

    15. I believe that although teaching may not hold out the promise of increasing

monetary gain to the same extent as other profession, its greatest reward is in

the appreciation and affection of my students and the good I do to them

    TEACHERS CREED

  • 16. I believe that having willingly chosen to be a teacher, I must also be willing to

respond sincerely with the effort, dedication and zeal, that teaching demands

    and deserves.

  • First I believe that education is a privilege that everyone should have this

is not a right just for people who can afford to go to school. This is a very

lucrative thing that a person should have as we know education could possibly

help us to grow, improve, and give direct path for our future career. Education

offers facilities and teachers for the students. Facilities must suit the needs of the

students as but what makes the classroom very effective is on how the teacher

nurture and inspire their students I know that the teacher goal is to produce

students that could help to our country, a teacher equips children with the tolls

    necessary for success in life.

Academic learning must begin with motivation and inspiration. Students

deserve an educator's passion for both the subject at hand and learning as a

whole. Teaching and learning become a simultaneous journey for both the

teacher and students when students' energy is aroused by a teacher's genuine

intensity for learning, because everyone is ready and willing to participate in

active learning. To achieve active learning, a teacher must demonstrate

enthusiasm and express confidence in the students' abilities to learn and be

successful. Employing constructivist methods of teaching in one's classroom

forces students to take an active role in their education by making choices and

assuming responsibility for intelligent inquiry and discovery. For instance,

discussions, projects, and experiments ensure student achievement and allow

students and the teacher to discover individual student's preferences and

strengths. This approach facilitates differentiated activities for each student's

distinctive ambitions, making the subject more relevant to every student's life.

Personal growth is accomplished when a teacher adopts a mentoring role.

Displaying warmth and compassion shows students that teachers love them and

are empathic, feeling human beings. One-on-one mentoring involves personal

conversations about goals, and taking time to share ideas and experiences. To

be a mentor to every student, a teacher must project positivity, exhibit flexibility

and confidence, set high expectations for oneself, and demonstrate fairness

    PERSONAL EDUCATION

    PHILOSOPHY

  • and consistency. In doing so, students can see appropriate adult behaviors first-

hand and begin to emulate them as they mature.

I believe that all children have the ability to learn and the right to a quality

education. All youths, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, and capabilities

should have the opportunity to learn from professional, well-informed teachers

who are sophisticated and knowledgeable, both in their area of expertise and

life. Certainly, every child has different learning styles and aptitudes; however,

by having a personal relationship with every student, a teacher can give each

an equal chance of success. By recognizing every student's potential and

having separate, individual goals for each, a teacher can accommodate

personal needs and abilities and encourage the pursuit of academic

    aspirations.

In choosing to become a teacher, I have made the commitment to myself

and my future students to be the best academic, personal, and ethical role

model I can be. It is my goal to have a mutually enriching teaching career by

keeping an open mind and continually communicating with my peers and

students. I am prepared to rise to the challenges of teaching in the 21st century,

and I promise to try to provide an honest, well-rounded education to every

    student I encounter.

  • I reviewed all the subject outline, it seems that everything were not just

familiar, honestly carpentry is not my fond elective I dont know where to start

and what supposed to be my adjustments for this area of specialization in TLE. I

observed all the sections this week I observed those aura and attitude in every

class, I know this could really help me to catch up easily with the vibes of my

soon students. This week my critic teacher introduce to me those new set of

grading as we entered the k-12 as well and the managerial procedure inside

the class he also gave some points to remember what I need to mark on my

    mind when Im teaching.

A week after what I accomplished were to take down notes all the

strategies and what should I do inside the classroom based on what I have

observed from my critic teacher this time I had some bonding with my students I

got time to ask them some, same thing with mine I know that everything starts of

getting information, this time my critic teacher gave me the authority to grade

my students job because these were the times that they were making their

projects, this week my critic teacher assigned me to check the class

attendance he taught me how to do this as well, In my spare time I used to walk

around the Lagro Highschool I want to feel and see also the environment of the

school. This time my students showed some interests that they wanted to see me

standing in front and nurturing their mind that made me feel excited too. This

week my Critic teacher taught me how to make a lesson plan and visual aid

    properly.

Next week I had the opportunity to stand in front and to tell something

about myself to my class in every section, actually my critic teacher usually

teach me how to be a good carpenter by teaching me how to use the

hammer, saw, and other common tools in carpentry since this week was their

project making period and I need to learn this so when my students ask me

about this I have something to share with in return to their questions. I had my

    IV. PERSONAL INSIGHTS ON

    THE PRE-SERVICE

  • opportunity to teach, guide and to have some bonding with them. Actually this

week I totally learned a lot about my elective. This week my critic teacher

assigned me to have my lesson plan everyday and give comments to what Im

doing usually. I had a very productive week actually. Then as the day goes by I

feel comfortable standing and speaking in front of the class we have an

interactive class everyday this week I prefer to observe and be particular with

the classroom management somehow I know that this week my students at

least known me. I still have my lesson everyday for my class my critic feels

    comfortable with me.

following a specific strategy, your steps in the plan will match the steps in the

    strategy.

    Sample steps could be:

Step 1: Show and discuss visual aid.

Step 2: Complete a sample problem.

    2. Content and Key Questions

Under each step indent and list the KEY questions, directions, or content you

need to present. Write the actual question when possible but remember you are

    not writing a script.

    Step 4: Elicit application

What else could someone do who was in the same position as Susan?

DO NOT WRITE: Ask the students what they would have done.

Give examples, model processes, demonstrate steps, and ask questions at

varied levels to help you monitor students growth and to adjust for problems

    during the lesson.

Provide opportunities for guided and independent practice

    C. Closure:

Closure is an opportunity to insure students have learned the main idea of the

lesson. The closure should be drawn from them. Ask them questions, ask them to

summarize steps, to do another example, to apply information in a new situation

  • or draw conclusions. You might make a link to the next lesson as well.

    D. Follow-up activity: Independent Practice, Enrichment or Reinforcement:

You may give students a chance to do something independently which will give

you a chance to do formative evaluation or to enable them to carry the activity

further and apply learning in a personal way. This step makes learning more

permanent. It could be an in- class activity which is completed later, a learning

center, seat work, or home work.

  • SCHOOL SITE (LAGRO HIGHSCHOOL)

HISTORY OF LAGRO HIGH SCHOOL In the early seventies, the growing number of people in the GSIS La Mesa

Homeowners Association (GLAMEHA) triggered the need for a high school in

Lagro Subdivision. The officers of GLAMEHA requested fervently for an

establishment of a high school next to Lagro Elementary School. With the aid of

the city government and the education bureau, Novaliches High School with

Mr.Florencio Dumlao as principal started accepting students. This high school

annex started on June 13, 1974 with 87 students and a facility, which were

humbly twohousing units in Block 59 and chairs the students provided

    themselves.

On August 26 of the same year, Lagro Annex was transferred to the Lagro

Elementary School compound and occupied the sawali-walled makeshift

building. The high school was then headed by Mr. Crispulo A. Pilar with Mr.

Narciso M. Caingat, Mrs. Nilfa C. Caingat and Mrs. Greta Manlapig as pioneer

    teachers.

Two years after, the enrolment rose to 249 from the former 87 with three sections

in first year, two in second year, and one in third year. They were all managed to

stay in just four classrooms guided by nine teachers of Lagro. .

The first graduation from this high school happened two years after with an

increased enrolment of 461 with Mrs. Josefa Q. Maglipon, head of the Home

Economics Department in Novaliches High School, who replaced Mr. Pilar(who

    left for the United States).

The School Year 1977-1978 reached 774 with 15 sections occupying seven

classrooms. With this problem on accommodation, Mr. Florencio Dumlao

appealed to the national government for a Lagro Annex Building. Through the

unrelenting efforts of the department head-in-charge and with the PTA lobbying

behind, the 1.3 hectare present school site, and building became a reality.

At the opening of classes on June 11, 1978, 923 students flocked the newly

constructed building which was a two-story 18-room structure standing proudly

    ADDITIONAL

    ENTRIES

  • with Mrs. Maglipon as head of the school. She was replaced with Mr. Silverio

Reinoso. Mr. Reinoso had to continue with the challenge to manage 19 sections

of students with just 32 teachers. It is really a challenge but he overcome with it.

It was the significant day of September 1, 1978 that Lagro High School was

inaugurated by Mrs. Commemoracion M. Concepcion, the former schools

division superintendent. Thus, it has become its foundation day.

Hand in hand with the influx of residents in Lagro Subdivision is the continuous

increase of student population. And to accommodate this increasing

population,a six-room building on the southern site of the campus was

constructed. Theschool then also improved with the completion of concrete

fences surroundingthe campus, construction of the stage and the new steel

flagpole, all to house and educate the community for them to have a better

    education.

Mr. Reinoso was replaced by Mrs. Virginia H. Cerrudo on September of 1981.

Mrs. Cerrudo was replaced with Ms. Felicidad C. Gutierrez in 1987 bringing

another building funded by the city government. The same year created the

Lagro High School-Payatas Annex with 257 students. This annex was assigned

to Mrs. Sheridan Evangelista, who was then the Social Studies Department Head

    of the main school.

Promoted as Principal IV, Ms. Gutierres was transferred to E. Rodriguez Jr. High

School. Mr. William S. Barcena took her place as the principal of Lagro High

    School on June 1991.

Three years after, Mr. Barcena was replaced by Mrs. Cristina C. Monis, the

General Education Supervisor I-English, as Officer-In-Charge on January 8,

1993.Mr. Gil T. Magbanua replaced Mrs. Monis on June 13, 1993

To accommodate the continuous increasing enrollees, the three-story building

funded by the Quezon City Government was constructed. The third Annex in

Fairview was finally opened with Mrs. Justina A. Farolan as the Teacher-In-

Charge.Dr. Consolacion C. Montano replaced Dr. Gil Magbanua later on with

moreimprovements.Mrs. Sheridan Evangelista made her comeback as the

principal of Lagro High School in 1998 with improved facilities and technology

    advancements for the

school. The dawn of more improvements was realized when Dr. Fernando C.

Javier became the principal in April 2003. The construction of the new building

previously applied by Mrs. Sheridan Evangelista was built and inaugurated by

the successor, Dr. Javier. The SB Building and the full renovation of the formerly

called Social Hall was transformed into a multi-purpose conference room

conveniently equipped with multimedia projectors and modern sound

technology now being utilized for events, seminars, workshops by the whole

division. Theconstruction of the new gate, renovations of all facilities and the

    covered court;

Lagro High School now boasts of not only its talents but its conducive learning

ambience sure to provide every learner more motivation to pursue his dreams.

Lagro High School reaped achievements in the district, division, regional and

  • national competition under Dr. Javier. The Bureau of Alternative Learning System

was established and soon after the Open High School. The Special Education

Program was established accepting deaf and blind students. The Guidance

Program was also enhanced and improved with the administration of Dr. Javier.

International competitions, speech and debate contests sponsored by the

government and private companies, Palarong Pambansa, National Schools

Press Conference and the creation of the Special Program in the Arts which

annually showcases talents in its culminating activities.

Today, as we speak, Lagro High School does not only have a growing number of

enrollees but also consistently develops as a community that consists of highly

competitive and productive members under the supervision of the new

    principal Dr. Maria Noemi Moncad
