INTRODUCTION:

Broadly, the administration of NCT can be classified in to categories like Civic, Transport, Revenue etc. NCT was not give a complete state hood but it was union territory with the legislative assembly and its own administrative set up. The city was drastically extended to the surrounding states as it also includes some parts of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana. The city hold the position of Metropolitan as it was recognized as 2rd largest city in terms of population recently. It was known for its diversity as it houses the people from through the country as they are provided work in many sectors like IT, Defense, Construction, Industry, Central Administration. Being the administrative capital of India it has the institutions like Supreme Court, Central Secretariat, Rastrapati Bhavan and many.

Law making body:Delhi has the Legislative Assembly popularly known as

Vidhan Sabha. There are 70 seats in the Vidhan Sabha who were directly elected by the people by the first past the post system. This body is the main law making body in the territory. This has the right to make laws on the state and concurrent subjects mentioned in the Part VII of the constitution. Except 3 subjects they are 1) PUBLIC ORDER

2) POLICE 3) LAND

EXECUTIVE: The Lt. GOVERNOR is the head of the Executive. He was appointed by the president. Though he do not holds the constitution body like Governor he possess almost equal powers with him in fact, over him i.e. Governor of state is bound by the decisions of Council but Lt. Governor of Delhi is not. The Government of NCT id created by the act of Parliament namely THE GOVERNMENT OF NATIOANL CAPITAL TERRITORY DELHI 1991. There are Council Of Ministers to look after the Executive functions of Delhi.

JUDICIARY: The High Court of Delhi is the highest Judicial body in

the territory. It was established on 31st March 1966. There are many subordinate courts in Delhi like Special courts, Sessions Court etc. to deal with the disputes.

New Delhi Municipal Council

NDMC has its origins in the Imperial Delhi Committee which was constituted on 25 March 1913 to overlook the construction of the new capital of India. Thereafter in February 1916 the Chief Commissioner, Delhi, created the Raisina Municipal Committee, which was upgraded to a 2nd class Municipality under the Punjab Municipal Act on 7 April 1925. Then on 22 February 1927, the Committee passed a resolution adopting the name "New Delhi" giving it the name, "New Delhi Municipal Committee", approved by Chief Commissioner on 16 March 1927. In May 1994, the NDMC Act 1994, replaced the Punjab Municipal Act 1911, and the Committee was renamed as the New Delhi Municipal Council.

Delhi Cantonment

The Cantonment is governed by the Cantonments Act, 2006 while various policy letters and instructions from the Ministry of Defence pertaining to the area are issued from time to time. Although the board functions as a local municipal body, it remains under the administrative control of the Directorate General Defence Estates, New Delhi and Principal Director, Defence Estates, Western Command, Chandigarh.

Currently, the Delhi Cantonment houses the Indian Army Headquarters, Delhi Area; the Army Golf Course; the Defence Services Officers Institute; military housing; Army and Air Force Public Schools; and various other defence-related installations. The cantonment also houses the Army Research and Referral Hospital, a tertiary care medical center of the armed forces of India.
